What advantage do these zeal short sockets have? I understand they're a space saver but what can they do that a pass through socket or ratcheting wrench can't do?
It all depends on what you're working on. Sometimes the width of the ratcheting wrench won't fit. the super short zeal sockets provide enough stand off to work. Same possibility for a pass thru socket/ratchet combo, space limitations. I also think the fitment of a zeal socket on a fastener is much better than that of a ratcheting wrench or pass thru socket. Lastly, in 1/4 drive I don't think you can get a lower profile set up than a gearwrench 60/84/90 tooth ratchet with a zeal socket.

I was real tired of reaching for the adjustable wrench every time I needed something bigger than 19mm / 7/8", but them large wrenches can get pricey fast. For the same price as an Icon 20-24mm set, I was able to get all this mostly USA made stuff shipped to my door from Cripe Distributing.

20230629_114415.jpg

The vice grips I thought were 4" across the jaws but were in fact 4" long total, lol. They even threw in a cheap little multitool because I spent over $50. I used CRIPE23 to save 10%. The KD and Kobalt are a raised panel away from being identical to Craftsman USA in fit and finish, Armstrong satin and full polish finishes seem to be a little nicer than the other brands. They cost a little more than the others so that checks out. Had to get a Gearwrench in 21mm but it was cheap and has nifty anti-slip. Some of the wrenches have a little shelf wear but I'll take functionally new USA wrenches at below Taiwan prices all day long.

Bought the best windshield cleaning tool from the company that makes the worst glass cleaner  Unfortunately I couldnt find the cleaning tool alone and had to buy the "Bonus" kit that came with the aerosol cleaner. I made the mistake (again) of trying the Stoner cleaner.. Streak City, even using their own microfibre cleaning tool. God that stuff is ****. Invisible Glass my ***.

Now I got to redo the windows with my usual foaming cleaner. Maybe one day Ill learn

And, I thought it was just my lousy glass cleaning skills that gave me bad results with that stuff....

Good to be vindicated.

I used to do okay with Invisible Glass. I'm now a Sprayway fan just because of price and Wal-Mart availability. Works very well and it's the cheapest? The search is over!

However, here's my glass cleaning protocol, which I learned from me mum: do it twice. Clean the glass (she used Windex) with paper towels, do the best you can, then do it all over again. (And for inside windshield film, I've learned that two, three, many passes might be required, also, park it pointed at the sunset.)

Normally on a dirty windshield, I do the first pass with Windex or the Wal-Mart version of blue Windexy cleaner, second pass, Sprayway cleaner, starting with regular paper towel, final buff with Scott paper towel for glass & chrome.

But back when I was on the road every spring and summer, in my friend's van towing his race car, I don't know if I used the Stoner Invisbile Glass twice. I'm sure I made it cleaner than it had been since the last gas stop, of course.

Let me know how that wand works out! Just got a new used Ford Transit and might need one.

I really like the Kleen Flo Glass Kleen. It goes on with a rich thick foam. Wipes clean. Bon Ami foam is good too but I think the KF is a little stronger and thicker.

I also have some concentrate that I mix with water. Its mostly alcohol I think. Not as good as the foamy stuff.

Your method sounds pretty close to my method. I use the concentrate alcohol based glass cleaner first if its real dirty like exterior then follow with the Kleen Flo foam. If its not that dirty, I just go Kleen Flo.

Another vote for the Scott Glass towels. They work great. They really are lint free.

The wand itself worked great. Got into all the corners.

I used to only use Glass Wax to clean any window; apply it, wait for it to dry to a haze, and buff the window clean. The formula must have been changed (it worked too well) and I drifted away from that and tried a number of cleaners. I've settled on Cinch by **** and Span; it's available grocery stores and works well for me. I use old newspapers to spread/scrub and to dry it. I've found that newspaper has a mild abrasive action that helps clean the glass (wear gloves unless you enjoy getting newsprint ink on your hands.

It takes several applications to clean the film (out gases from the interior plastic that condense on the glass) on the inside.

Sprawaway is what I use for my shower glass because the glass company says it has to be ammonia free to maintain the applied water shed sealer. Works great.

I assume since this is ammonia free that it’s safe for window tint?

Can anyone confirm if the recommendations of glass cleaners above are safe for tint? I too struggle with Stoners. It’s pretty bad but I still use it because I know it doesn’t mess with the tint.

Good morning to me. Mighty Seven M7 Air Hammer, (since I got my hands on a compressor, (2 months ago) a whole new world of tools has opened up for me).

An air hammer is a wonderful thing! Even a regular little affordable one. I have only entered the world of compressors and air hammer in the past decade or so, and I'm so glad I did.

Now you need a hammer bit to beat on (well, buzz on) things, like rusted-on brake drums, rotors. MAIM! KILL! DESTROY!

This window tint shop approves of Sprayway:

Talked me into it. Ordered a 3 pack for $10.47 from Amazon. Anything has to work better than Windex.

I'm a big fan of Windex, except when it's cold outside (doesn't seem to want to evaporate).

I'm also cheap, and wouldn't a spatula from a dollar store do the same job as that wand???

Would be cool to buy cheap microfiber cloths from HF, sew them to fit the head of a spatula…

I would love to know myself.
I dug into it a bit because Amsol doesnt sell the cleaner in Canada. The can looks like Sprayway, right down to the 19oz capacity. SDS is the same for both. Pretty sure its a sprayway product.

Very fair price from Amazon for this product! What's amazing is how cheap it is at Wal-Mart in the house cleaning chemicals aisle, esp. considering that it works well.

I've spent money on various spray brands - Griot's, Wurth, all sorts of stuff -- and they're all decent, but cost much more than this.

Promise to take some pics of new tools this weekend for this thread.

Loading up on German tools. The Heyco combination wrenches are going to work (my Kennedy is becoming the German tool box and I’m loving it). They are COO of Ireland which jives with Heyco having a factory there. I bought 3/8”-3/4”. I don’t use wrenches as much as I used to so those sizes should cover the most basic needs. I have adjustable wrenches for smaller or larger. The Heyco wrenches are thin, have a really nice and grippy satin finish on the beam, and actually fit on fasteners better than most of my Craftsman ones.

The Wera Tool Check is metric and for the house. That thing is compact! I miss the lock that the older cases had as this one flops open all the time but I love having all those bits and sockets right there.

All the Stahwille wrenches are for home. I’m eliminating a lot of my combination wrenches at the house and moving to DOE and DBE sets. I get way more versatility that way. I now have deep offset DBE sets, the Corona shallow offset DBE set, and these 0 degree offset DBEs. These are shorter than I thought. I’ll probably still end up grabbing a long combo set for the hard to reach spots and I have my Proto 6pt combo set too for all the rusty stuff.

The streaks are off-gassing from the plastics. You have to use a degreaser like dawn dish soap diluted in hot water first. No glass cleaner will get rid of off-gas streaks by itself. You wouldn't clean bacon splatter with rubbing alcohol.

I personally use super clean 3:1.

There was no streaks using KleenFlo or BonAmi from off gassing. These streaks belong to Stoners. Exact same streaks/blotches as happened the last time I used the product several years ago. Only reason I even bothered was that this was a brand new can of Stoners that had a different design to the cans I previously had and I thought this product was "fresher" or maybe new and improved formula. It wasnt:cool:
