Welp, a few more things showed up like magic!

I finally went up north for another reason and I managed to finally get these Ernst Wrench Rails. 7 Seets for $30

Got my Nepros tiny 3/8" drive ratchet. Man that thing is small and like jewelry. I should put it on a chain around my neckNepros Box.jpgNeprosWrench.jpgNeprosInsideBox.jpg

Got a bunch of misc organizers to help with my out of control tool storage issues.

Stahlwille 1/2” metric sockets from Mister Worker. Im replacing all of my Tekton socket sets (just metric for now) with higher end options, going German made in this drive size.

The only flaw I see is that the 30mm and 32mm sockets have seemingly been used. I’ll email them but I also recognize that I may be over reacting.

New addition to the M12 drawer in the shop.
I was contemplating going with a pneumatic but so glad I got this instead.

I don't do enough riveting to justify buying one of those, although when I do need to rivet stuff, it almost always needs 3/16, 1-inch long stainless rivets, often with sleeves.

Pop rivet guns don't have enough draw to pull them through in one squeeze, so that usually turns into a situation where 4 hands are needed...

A fellow member here hooked me up with a Snap-on dealer and I’m super thankful for it. First time on a Snap-on truck and it was super chill. The dealer was totally cool and the guys getting stuff warrantied were hilarious. One dude had a long flex ratchet that looked like someone ran it over with a dump truck and it was bent in like four directions. That got a good laugh out of all the mechanics. A great first experience. I went in looking for some pink handled pliers but left with my first Snap-on ratchet (a 1/2” SH80A) and some red handled talon grip long nose pliers. Got to say that the comfort grip is sweet. Little nervous about how destroyed it may get being exposed to cutting fluids and metal chips but the dealer said he’d swap it out if it got bad. Also I really liked the hard handles more than I thought while the chrome was kinda small feeling, if that makes sense. I even got a free t shirt. Definitely going to purchase more stuff over time. I now understand the Snap-on hype.

That marking is strange. Does it wipe off with some mild metal polish? Either way, I wouldn't worry about it as it's not from use; any mark from actual use would be near the corners; so they are new.

Years ago I bought a set of SK sockets and there was one that had a score all around the OD that went thru the chrome. It was somehow done after plating, when all of the production processes are done. I had no idea how this could have possibly have happened as it made no sense. But I called them and they sent a replacement. My point is that sometimes weird **** happens.

Mwuhaha! Welcome to Dual 80 land! Here's a tip: if you prefer a release button to wrassiln' with a socket every time you time you want to take it off, they do make those, they just don't seem to be very common. (My Snap On dealer is "used stuff on ebay.")

And yeah, I'm a comfort grip fan myself, and the chrome, handleless types seem very thin to my hand. I like how their comfort grip handles are very grippy, kinda soft. And on those pliers, the handles somehow feel sticky, like the least likely tool to slip out of your hand ever.

That the markings are dead center in the flats instead of near the corners makes me think, not used on a nut, but maybe held by some kind of expanding jig while spun and polished or some other finishing step.

Stahlwille sockets come with a layer of soft protective paint inside, I assume for storage.

It will rub off with the first few uses, leaving hard steel underneath.

The dealer had one quick release 1/2” ratchet and I was super tempted especially because of how slick everything gets when I’m working on the mills. I’ll see how the standard ratchet works and go from there but I’d definitely be into a quick release 1/4” just due to the size of the sockets.

Nice Nepros ratchet. So nice that I just had to order one! It will be my first Nepros tool. I ordered it at Amazon-US for a grand total of $67.77. It will ship from Amazon-Japan.

Proto 3/8” flex torque wrench. I have been spending most of my wrenching outside of work on lawn equipment lately and this should cover all my needs. COO of Italy and it’s the same head as my favorite Proto palm control ratchets. Hopefully she’ll be good to me for many years.

That's a great looking torque wrench. It doesn't look like the Proto torque wrenches I'm used to seeing. I wonder if it's a Facom rebadged as Proto? I'm sure it will serve you well

I’m tempted to say that it is definitely a rebranded Facom. I know MAC is also selling a similar/clone to the Proto. Both have the round head heart spring just like all the Facom ratchets. I have to say, for a round head ratchet, the Facom-clones are great. Small head, good tooth count, and smooth ratcheting action. The only downside is that I absolutely hate trying to get the reassembly correct when I lube them back up. The stupid 1/4 turn is always not a 1/4 turn and then I have to fiddle with it for some time to get it just right.

Hit the local pawn shop today and got a good deal on a set of gearwrench 120xp ratchets and a blue point 12 ounce ball peen. The 1/4” ratchet was locked up tight and the 1/2” was missing, but I’ve been wanting a stubby flex head 3/8” and I was able to get the 1/4” working, but I need to grab a set of snap ring pliers and open it up to clean it. They’re not the snap ons I’ve been hunting for, but they’re better than the kobalt and Chinese craftsman stuff I was using before. IMG_7440.jpeg

I’ve had the 6” and 8” widemouth adjustable for about 15 years, so I thought I’d finish the set. Got the 10”.
Next time I’ll get the 12”.
The 19mm semi deep completes an impact set. IMG_0070.jpeg
I can always use an extra light.

I love that light. I've held flashlights in my.mouth for years, and that one is perfect.

Nice. How many teeth does it have? I've never seen a Proto torque wrench that looks like that, so I assume it's a relatively new release? And yeah, it definitely looks like a Facom.

What's the Proto PN, and where did you purchase it?
