I haven’t gotten to go on any tool trucks the last 3 weeks cause my boss doesn’t let us go if we are busy. He will call and get us off the truck if we get busy while we are there. I told him I’m buying tools to do my job so I don’t see a problem he is like well we can’t get busy. Another guy backed me up too. The files will be handy. I can think of a lot of places I can use little files on. And I always break magnets so I buy them with a lifetime warranty plus this is a sweet color.

God forbid you subsidize his business out of your own W2 wages while at work.

I'm all about the colored magnets now. Very little extra cost, easy to find.

Unfortunately, the SO sockets that have arrived aren't great. Aside from being filthy (which I've already dealt with), the 13mm and 11mm have some kind of defect or damage in the chamber. Hard to get a pic of. There's also some plier marks on the 13mm, which is just cosmetic, but all together just not something I want in my kit.

13mm:
The "bottom" of the socket well is actually raised here, not scored inward or chamfered.

The 10mm. The ridge or whatever is worse than the 13mm - it's actually more-raised and sharp - but harder to get a pic of):
The sharp ridge is in the top-left side of the interior.

cropping did this pic no favors...

*sigh*

I went ahead and bought a new/un-opened set while I get this resolved. :(

[EDIT - the seller didn't offer returns, but apparently didn't want the hassle of a dispute. I didn't either, so he offered a refund of half. I guess I'll see if my shop will warranty out the 10mm and 13mm with their Snap On guy. Will have to think about what to do if that's not an option.]

Italy according to their website. I didn’t see any markings on them anywhere.
Nice score! That file set looks sweet. I may add that to my list of goodies to get. Wish they were diamond files though as I work a lot more with hardened and heat treated tool steals over the soft stuff the other mill guys get to play with.

To my mind, this is the best plier wrench. The ratcheting adjustment when you close the jaws pushes it over the top for me. My previous choice was Klein, with the offset push button. I found those with the push button right at the pivot to be awkward to access. I’ve tried the USAG and they seem identical to Craftsman, and I assume FACOM. Craftsman v-series was the easiest for me to get at my local Lowes.IMG_6371.jpeg

Any thoughts about what might have caused this? A factory defect or a drill bit through the socket is all I can figure, but in that case it would have had to come from the ratchet side (which doesn't make a lot of sense).

Could be a drill bit. I’ve had to drill out quite a few socket to fit the Hanson trays. Doesn’t favor any one manufacturer either. I’ve had to do Snap On before.

That's an interesting thought. I don't think this was a case of drilling for trays - all of these are open to the drive area. On my Hansen (or Hansen-style) trays, the posts get skinnier for the smaller sockets. I can't come up with a better theory...

Those look like someone drilled the inside for pass through or something

I had a ZORO 20% off coupon code, so I used it on three Stahlwille wrenches: 17x19mm, 12x13mm, and 14x15mm. I would have preferred a 12x14mm wrench, but Stahlwille does not make it. The box ends have "AS-Drive". They were drop shipped from the Stahlwille-USA warehouse in WI.

Yeah - the more I think about it the more I think that's it. It was definitely coming from the back (ratchet) side. I've noticed the 12mm has some of it too (so 10mm, 12mm and 13mm)

I'm going to move on from them. I guess I'll get a Dremel carbide bit and remove the burr (and of course will disclose it - they'll work fine). poe6hb.gif

They offered an extra year warranty if I bought 6 bottles of their ultra hp mix oil for $21. I mix my own anyway so I bought them. Trufuel comes out to like $20 a gallon or something crazy. Mixing with Amsoil is less than $10.

I wonder if they updated it again? Mine didn't slide off once.
Well then you need to start some lat and trap training then! The transition from my neck to my shoulders is not quiet a 45* angle, but it's close, and I have broad shoulders...meaning the straps are always sliding down and off my shoulders.

Another poster did indicate a sternum strap would help, and I do agree. Even then you can tell the shoulder straps is where they saved a bunch of pennies on the BR450.

I’ve been so impressed the the new V-series line of tools.I got the socket sets and was blown away with the quality of them.I bought and sold numerous sets just wanting to see what was out there because im so indecisive.I was about to go with Williams’s and wanted to give the V’s a try. I’m glad i did. I bought the ratcheting screwdriver too and it’s awesome as well. Back Drag isn’t as good as Willams/Snap on but over all it pairs perfect with the Kline flip sockets. Now seeing this post im gonna get a pair of these next trip and try them out. I have a small set of Knipex like these. Should be a great comparison.

I've got broad shoulders as well. I thought that's why the thing stayed in place, but I also have a large chest, so there's only an inch or two of adjustment in the strap pull down. It's pretty tight on me as is.

I used it for another hour yesterday and found I don't need to adjust the straps at all. Maybe some of y'all need some push-ups 😂

Boxo 3/8 flex. A mate has started selling Boxo after he fell out with the local snap on guy, so at less than $30 with a lifetime warranty I thought I’d give one a try. So far seems like pretty generic Taiwan, with a nice ball detent on the flex. Don’t think it’ll tempt me away from my FR80 anytime soon, but I’m also certain I won’t be able to break it.

Finally got some double box ratcheting XL wrenches, and finally using the drawer on my cart. Metric 8-19mm

Thought about getting the HF Icon for less $$ but decided the Mac expert would be an easier warranty off the truck and came with better holder. Was wary of the GW, looks like they're selling new stock without the hard plastic holder now, just loose in plastic bags in a cardboard box. And GW quality has gone down

More Sloppy seconds, AWD on the cheap
Genius Tools 3/8in dr MM deep Impacts 7to22mm no skips. None missing and New, backer card on blister pack is MIA.
Came in the large box, inside the Larger box on bottom. Bottom box is 40x12x12in for perspective. Delivered USPS. I am sure I would have been charged by Dimensional Weight on that one.

Who knows?
Just wanted to reach back out and say thanks again. We have Milwaukee batteries and wouldn’t you know it the same seller has an adapter for those.

My wife is over the moon about this. She bought her Dyson used for $20 only to find out it had a battery that would last 30 seconds. She hated to buy another battery for it as they’re known for being pretty crappy. Now she can use all of my Milwaukee batteries and it only cost $20! Thanks again!

I gave my buddy a set of those about 10 years ago. When he opened them he looked puzzled and said "What am I supposed to do with these?"
Then he went out and bought a 3/8" gun to put them on and he's been beating the snot out of them since.
I bought their SAE shallow impact in 3/8dr. Has a few 32nd sizes not normally offered.
Includes:
393010 5/16'' Impact SocketÂ
393011 11/32'' Impact SocketÂ
393012 3/8'' Impact SocketÂ
393014 7/16'' Impact SocketÂ
393016 1/2'' Impact SocketÂ
393018 9/16'' Impact SocketÂ
393019 19/32'' Impact SocketÂ
393020 5/8'' Impact SocketÂ
393022 11/16'' Impact SocketÂ
393024 3/4'' Impact SocketÂ
393025 25/32'' Impact SocketÂ
393026 13/16'' Impact SocketÂ
393028 7/8'' Impact Socket

Again cheap enough that I could not fill empty spaces on a rack as singles.
Might have other bit sockets by the Genius tool brand. RIBE come to mind as a maybe.

Is “New tools Wednesday” a thing? Haul of Mac stuff - some heavy hammers, big and little flex ratchets, IR thermometer, ratcheting bit wrench, disconnect set and some new Milton V style connectors… it’s a good day! 😄

That a 18” 1/2” axis ratchet? I’ve been wanting one but haven’t had a chance to catch the local Mac guy lately.

It is - the non-locking flex head. I have the fixed head twin but I didn’t have a 1/2” flexy ratchet. Now I’m thinking I should maybe have gotten the locking version but we’ll see how I like it after a while.
