Are those common sizes on Japanese cars?

I have two 1st gen Tacomas. 8, 10 and 12mm are very common (10 and 12 moreso). Anything larger than that I’m using a socket+ratchet or equivalent.

Vessel doesn’t make a 12mm but driver for Toyota. At least that I could find.

Evans Rule catalog 01 11523.jpg
1958 Evans Rule Co. catalog with price lists

You probably never heard of Evans Rule.
They're the outfit who invented the little retractable key holder that all the mailmen carried on their belt.

Evans / Evans Rule Co., 400-416 Trumbull St., Elizabeth, NJ (later 7768 Frelinghuysen Ave, Newark, NJ 07114) / rules, tape measures, retractable key holder / est. ? / patent D203672 Feb 8 1966 John J. Evans /

I'll try to get that out to Mark as soon as I can so he can get it uploaded to ITCL.

Also got this cute little Indestro 2800 1/4" drive SAE socket set - all there except the cross-bar -

Indestro 10 pc 1.4 dr SAE socket set D-I 111523 01.jpg

- this one was one of those "grab bag" deals - seller had no clue what they had - crappy photos that didn't give a clear picture of what the contents were - blurry photos - you get the idea -

GJ member @Etchase just grabbed some New Britain from me. A few weeks ago he had expressed interest in another New Britain set that I had listed on Ebay, but because of the way I had listed it, he wasn't able to bid on it, his being in Hawaii.

I sent him a P/M and told him I was anticipating delivery of the Inestro set, and that I thought it looked like it had some New Britain in it - Don had helped me ID it - and asked him if he'd be willing to wait a couple extra days on the package of stuff he bought and I'd toss in what ever oddball New Britain I got in the set I had coming into the stuff I was going to ship to him.

Well, it looks like @Etchase's patience paid off - here's the "oddball" New Britain that was in that Indestro set:

New Britain Machine Co. 1/4" drive SAE "Chrome" socket set

When I realized what was there, I went looking for a box, but didn't have any luck. (That's in a different thread.)

Stubby 3/8 drive ratchet. You can put 3/8 extension on the handle or a joint and extension for versatility.
I got a good deal using an O'Reilly Auto reward so I figured to post here as a thanks.

The selector has a middle position that locks the ratchet. Guess that could come in handy if you needed to rock the fastener back and forth.

Nice little Stubby. Looks like yours is missing the rubber cap/grip that covers the anvil on the handle. Mine had one. Figured I’d mention it in case you want to swap it out.

My new contender for modern 1/4” drive ratchet with the smallest head width: Performance Tool W36101. 72 tooth, made in China, quick release. Bought at a local tool store for $20. This one measures .765” side to side. My best before this was a Carlyle R14TD at .795”. If anyone has one smaller I’d love to hear about it!

Nice, the locking feature seems useful.

Have to admit, I laughed a little when I read your description of adding extensions or joints to make it more useful. Sort of figured anyone buying a ratchet (especially anyone on GJ) would know that (and if buying a specialty ratchet like that would already own a few), LOL...

The more I've worked on vehicles over the years, the more I've learned that you can't have too many extensions or u-joints.

I mentioned it more to be thorough. I take lousy pictures with my cell phone. I wasn't sure if that feature would show up very well.

I don't own one, but am aware of Pro-Auto's MHR-2, which is listed as having a head width of 15.5mm (0.610").

The 8mm is perfect for the distributor cap on the M88
I was strugging with that mf'er recently - one of the reasons I've been on a shallowness kick recently. Unfortunately for me I have a custom all-aluminum rad that is thicker than stock and made it even worse. The solution at the time was the long-flex ratcheting wrench, but will have to see what else would have worked with these new sockets...

I was cleaning up in the shop last weekend and found a non-descript cardboard box.

Oh yeah! That arrived when I was on vacation a few months ago!

(Yes, this all implies my shop is a heap this year.)

I like how the bails hold the paper on each side, instead of having clamps front and rear. At least, I think I do, haven't used it yet.

UPDATE: They included a piece of sandpaper (with pre-punched vacuum holes) and I installed that today. The bails operate clamps to the front and rear, which is neat.

Made in Malaysia, $41.99 in August from Amazon.

SCORE!
and it has a round dust port that just might fit a vac hose with no $25 adapter.

Vacuum port was indeed my goal, but i checked it against the hose of the new Bosch monsterdustvac* and nope, I'm going to need an adapter, dangit.

I’m interested in this thing that can be adjusted for strength of indexing. Looks like you can loosen it up to no indexing at all. For those that can’t decide I guess. Have never seen one before.

Well, that looks like a nice, sturdy ratchet I could live with.

Being a ratchet fiend, I already have one of the ratchets in that video (a Snap On). I do have a 1/2" extendy-ratchet (cheap HF, but it's really not bad) and that FACOM 3/8" extendy looks neat.

I stand by my usual beef: ATTENTION MODERN TOOL MANUFACTURERS! Stop trying to be clever with your "dual component" handles, with half of it smooth plastic! Just make the whole thing out of the grippy stuff, like Snap On does.

As I recall, the small Makita palm sander that someone left here was a real PITA to change paper on.
I do hope your Bosch unit is more efficient at containing the sanding dust than the Makita - I put it on the curb last summer and somebody picked it up.

Renault 4 tl overflow tank, and a piece of hose,i got tired of using a funnel on my bike for carb synching, finally made this thing so i can hang it and run a bike with tank removed.

Is that one of the Coolant tanks that was held to the body with a rubber strap?
