Got over to Lowe's about 11:30 and grabbed the last 6 of their little "Kobalt" miniature tool boxes. The lid is magnetic.
Since I was in the neighborhood, hit the Russian deli and got some goodies.

Nice! The website says they're on sale, but only available locally, and won't tell me what stores have them in stock...

@Rkcubed - please post that in the "show us your fencing tools/windmill tools thread in the vintage forum!

@mikeinri - I saw those in a post here a couple days ago and thought they might make great gifts. I got there a little after 11:30, walked in the door, caught up with two employees, told them "I'm looking for a small, blue, Kobalt tool box," and they said "Oh, I think we sold out," then led me over to a young man who was moving boxes around and they asked him and he said "These are the only ones left," so I grabbed them.

Girl at the register told me she'd give me some super-duper discount, but it turned out you only got the discount if you filled out a credit application for a credit card - instant deal killer.
Their "Black Friday" deal was $13 bucks a pop.... not bad.
I think the flat shallow space in the top is rather screwy, though... what do I put in there? Pencils?

Handy little parts tray when you're working on something? Maybe put a magnetic mat on it.

Happy Birthday to myself, lol

Woot had a great deal on it. Now I just need to compliment it with the 3/8s DCF923

This has a great feel/weight/balance in the hand. Haven’t used it yet. Pretty excited to.

Been wanting one of these type of kits for what seems forever:

81yZJPXwHJL.jpg

engine/transmission pressure tester.

I've always gotten by with something like a cheapo direct reading "dash mounted" style oil pressure gauge. Always a hassle, never seemed to get around to buying anything better.

Noticed one on sale on amazon while searching for something else, so I grabbed it.

Of course, now that I have one I'll probably never need to use it again......

IMG_20231125_133707832.jpgBought two packs of these magbars for $8 each plus tax at Lidl. So when I bolt these together, I have 3 socket rails, with pretty strong magnets for $16. I've found that these are a space saver in the top of my cart, and there's no pegs to fuss with or break of any kind. I don't see cheap magbars sold locally, DC market, that are in the "medium and small" size. I'm tempted to get some more.
My Pittsburgh pro 1/2" universal 17mm impact retension spring gave up the ghost recently, after living way long past it's expected life in an auto shop environment, at least 13 years. So I got this GW x-core in a pinch, the labeling is off. And it's a little chunkier in all respects than it's predecessor. I like having as much accessibility with these tools, I need something else, but, I have to have one of these by Monday. And a lifetime warranty that I can deal with locally through 2 distributors I know, rather than the abyss.IMG_20231125_135751159.jpg

Decided the Sunex wrenches are being returned on Monday. These are the worst quality wrenches I've ever seen.. which is odd, as their sockets are excellent quality.
Not that odd, their impact sockets and some of their shop equipment is what made Sunex a widely known brand. However, their other hand tools need to judged on a case by case basis because the fit, finish, and feel isn't always good.

I tried this experiment with the magnet rails before but I found that everything in the drawer stuck to them and I abandoned the idea. Hope you have better results than I did.

I have a 10A NOCO charger/maintainer that I love, but I grabbed this 1A to complement it during Black Friday. Mostly for the lawnmower battery during the winter.

That one amp unit does a good job of bringing car batteries back from the dead also. I had a 7 year old battery in my truck that sat over the winter for three months in my front yard that was pronounced dead by my battery tester. 3 days on that NOCO brought it back! There's also several reviews on Amazon that say the same thing.

Thanks for posting this; I picked one up today at the BF price. 1A is plenty for what I need it for.

Definitely! As I understand it, all of their chargers have the same capabilities, the lower amp units just take longer.

Awesome! Glad it helped.

I have the Noco 1,2,5 and 10. They all work great, but you are best off matching the charger capacity to what you are charging. No use using the 1A on a car battery or a 10A on a motorcycle battery, but opinions vary.
The charger is "smart" like all charger nowadays. Put a 1A on a car it may take days to charge, put the 10A on a motorcycle, after 1 minute the "smart" cuts the charging to 250ma and takes forever to charge the small battery. Match the charger to the capacity of the battery they work nicely.

You'll like those, they're really nice.
Yeah - I have a Sunex set, but noticed the 22mm sleeve is already cracked (wife's Ody) and the set seems very reasonable, especially since the offset this design offers will work better for several of the family cars.

Eventually the plastic will crack, or the bit that goes over the edge of the socket will wear off, allowing the sleeve to move/fall off. I just throw a little electrical tape on there, good to go.
