Wow, very nice work!

This really soothes my OCD majorly!
Yeah, I wonder how they installed things at the factory sometimes, and always try to install things so the next mechanic (me) can get at them with my particular set of tools, or, best case scenario, some other mechanic out there can get at them with the crudest of tools.

I'm not sure how all of the other car companies do it, but I've learned from a friend that Mazda sells their hose clamps like this, preloaded:

1703691373737.png

Which makes me suspect that on the assembly lines, they're merely pulling that tab and the hose clamp snaps shut. Hose clamp in that pic looks double-layered, not sure if that is relevant.
Most major auto manufacturers sell replacement hoses with this style of clamp retainer. Chrysler clamps have a twist type that you grab and twist and they are released.

Part 2 of today's Utility Knives... That top WorkPro has a Ceramic Blade installed
That handle came with a stack of 10 steel blades
The three small folding knives fit clipped in my shirt pocket 24/7... I decided they are sooo cool... I got a pack of 3
Next is a folding surgical knife... no idea what I will do with it...
The tin is holding 10 replacement surgical blades and a small keyring (that doesn't FIT the knife... Go figure)

Everything WAS FREE... so don't judge me.

You’re an ‘influencer’ …
Just ordered some of the stainless Workpro knives and the ceramic blades! As a ceramic engineer, I remember when Kyocera first introduced ceramic kitchen knives to the market. Everyone laughed at them until they started using them. Super sharp and very, very tough … not your father’s ceramic!!

Can you direct me to the link for the Williams wrenches for $17?!? Seems like a steal, but I understand shipping costs could temper that. Does Williams make the Icon version at HF? Look identical. Thanks.

It was indeed a steal, and unfortunately looks like there are no more available locally. Best price is now equivalent to $143 including duty and shipping from the US. To be honest, if there were any other sets available, I would have bought all of them for that price.

It looks like the local Amazon is having clearance sales on select items. Some are very random, and include a 6' Ridgid retractable toilet snake. Retails in the US for $80+ and is on local Amazon for less than $15. I don't need it but how do you let something go with that type of price disparity, especially as it *MIGHT* be needed in the future?

I've got some additional items in route and will share the eclectic purchases as they arrive...

I've been looking for a box to keep my utility knife blades in. That would be perfect.
Inside that box are individually wrapped and folded slots for the FRUCKing sharp ceramic blades.

This is not my first adventure with ceramic utility blades. These are great... most sold on Amazon are **** ... be careful what u buy.

Some fun stuff came in yesterday.

IMG_8912.jpeg

On the left is an order from Epstein’s. 8” long 1/4” drive lp90, Bonney flare/open ends and a short dbe, two Norseman stubby drills, and an Osborne thimble for some upholstery I’ve been doing. Lp90 seems great and shipped lubed which I know wasn’t always the case in the past.

IMG_8913.jpeg

Have to include my box art. I requested a mythical sea monster:

IMG_8911.jpeg

Then on the right is a set of wacky Indestro wrenches I bough on eBay. These look like the sides were ground down kind of haphazardly to make them thinner, but they are chromed over with no grind marks! So either these are factory made or maybe a custom project from someone who worked at a chrome shop. I’m going to ask on the Indestro thread to see if anybody knows more.

I picked up an ABN 16 pc 6 to 32mm wrench set for less than $35 including shipping off ebay
I have taken close up pics of the box ends of the Size 11 box ends, all unused and new.
Ampro seems to machined nicely
The Pittsburgh looks like it never made it to quality control. Granted , the 11mm was the worst but the rest , although finished nicely enough as far as the Chrome finish goes seem to be made the worst and have people in the reviews section complaining they let go , round bolts and damage knuckles while the rest don't seem to have many reviews , reviews on the ABN on amazon don't seem awful at all.
HUSKY - Came with 290pc set made in India
AMPRO - 10-32mm wrech set bought off ebay made in Taiwan
PITTSBURGH - 7-17MM 9 PC Wrench set made in India
ABN- 6 TO 32MM 16 PC Wrench set off ebay, I'm assuming it's made in China as there seems to he no info on where it's made.

Close ups are ABN , Pittsburgh , Ampro and husky in that order

Totally missed the Falcon in the initial pics. Too focused on the garage floor :p
That is sweet! I've been talking for the last 5 years about doing something similar, but with a 347 stroker.

I finally invested in a high quality wire stripper. So far I am very impressed as the few sample cuts I made with the tool were effortless and looked great.

Weicon Wire Stripper No. 5
Sorry to rain on your parade, but I had the exact same strippers and they self destructed after about 20 strips.
The springs and knives ejected themselves from the body.

Picked up a KTM spring tool. When changing the oil on my Skandic (900 ACE) I've found it's a lot easier to access the filter and avoid spills if I pull the muffler out.

However my old spring tool didn't work too well for this task. It's just something I made years ago in a moment of need from an old screwdriver.

Does anyone know where KTM tools are made? If it's Austria, it should get along well with my Rotax engine. :)

If you end up not liking the KTM one, Snap On makes a really good one in a couple of sizes.

A few years ago, I bought 2 CLIPPER LACERs for flat belts. They were shipped USPS from Florida to Point Roberts, WA.. From the time I found the lacer on eBay, bought it and had it shipped to arrival here was 36 hours.
13 days ago, I bought two 6X plaid shirts from a Big and Tall shop, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The last time I delt with this company, it took 8 days. There was a terrible snow storm that year, that had most of the highway travel and shipping shut down.
If I make another order, I might not live long enough to see it arrive. Of course, my wife could alter the shirts to make drapes for my son's room.
Picture from the retailer's site.

green roll-up bags another member mentioned in the "Amazon" thread. I stuffed a mess of what was at hand for the photo. pockets are too short for the long-ish 13/16" x 7/8" dbe. certainly better than what I'm using now.
and some fancy Vessel ball grips.

Nice! I've got the 117 and really like it. I really like the compact size of these meters... especially compared to my 289s and soon to arrive 867b.

In the last 8 yeard Ive become a bit of a Fluke nerd / hoarder!
I’ve used dozens and dozens of Flukes. Great quality and our rep was great. My buddy even developed an ad campaign for him. The tag line … ‘If it works, it’s a Fluke!’ For some reason, the rep didn’t bite!! 😜🤪

Needed a 10mm offset wrench. This 8x10 offset wrench from Beta was about $6 on amz so I figured I'd see how their wrenches from China are.

Initial impressions.. finish is a little rough in places but I wouldn't guess it was made in China. Assuming the ring fits where I need it I'm happy with it. I don't know if I'd buy other sizes only because a comparable 8 piece Stahlwille set is $115 vs $100 for Beta. I'd be crazy to not spend $15 more. But a cheap 1/2 price single Beta wrench? I'll do that.

So far I've got a Fluke Pro3000 toner set, Fluke 5VYE2 analog test set, Fluke 117, Fluke 177, Fluke 376, Fluke 87III, Fluke 87V, two Fluke 289s, Fluke 96 Series II scope meter, Fluke 1507 insulation resistance tester, Fluke 9040 phase rotation meter, Fluke 1621 ground resistance meter and just added a Fluke 867b graphical process meter.

I have never been disappointed with the quality of Fluke equipment. Even the old stuff is going strong and never had any of them fall out of accuracy.

I haven't actually used any yet but that crud in the Pittsburgh box makes it tge worst for me and based on what I've read I don't have high hopes.
The Husky has had the most effort put into it looking nice and based on a couple of YouTube videos where they test wrenches til breaking point it looks OK for the price point.
The ABN got decent reviews in Amazon with only people complaining about its finish and the pouch it came in.
The Ampro , having had an Ampro 3/8 set and used the ratchet as a breaker on brakes and oil changes , and based on a visual inspection it seems the one where the most effort has been put into actually machining the tool.

I'll ofcourse only know when I use /test them but I have the highest expectation from the Ampro , the same Expectation from the ABN and Husky and I'll make sure the coast is clear for the sake of my knuckles when trying out the Pittsburgh. I can't really make a call based on just looking at them or reviews so I've replied with my expectation of each wrench.

My Gedores have served me well over the years but are in another country and when I receive those I'll Mayne keep the ampro set and single wrenches from the other sets to cover any missed sizes I may have.
