Went to auction because I heard there was a fine Lassy in attendance and she might be had on the cheap.

Got distracted by a few other things though:

Parts washer. Happy to have this old Handi-Kleen, it's in good shape. I took the legs off to transport it home.

There were two 1-ton hoists, I wanted to walk away with one of them. I truly loved the look of the older Robbins & Myers but the Vital came up first. I bid on it in case the Robbins&Myers went higher than I wanted to spend, and got the Vital for a very nice price:

Quite a while later the R&M Model M came up. For my experience and what I've seen, there was a fairly low level of activity around this auction so I walked away with this one too. Very heavy in weight compared to the Vital:

I was the only bidder on this collection of small files. There are about 20 small diamond files in the left boxes, the middle box has several syringes of diamond compound. The two boxes on the right have bout 60 small files. I have a use for those but the diamond files and syringes of compound are outside of my current wheelhouse. Maybe I could use the diamond files on some carbide cutters with tricky profiles? But probably not:

I think this is serendipidous? About a month ago I bought a set of circlip pliers. A set of four that has larger tips for larger clips. I had considered getting a more comprehensive set that has finer needles for smaller circlips. This came up and again I was the only bidder. So I won this lot; five pliers with smaller tips, and a mixed selection of clips.

Ah. This! Any other auction house that I've dealt with would probably split this single lot of stamps into 4 or 5 smaller lots. They run from 1/32nd to 3/8ths, there are letter, number and symbol stamps. I don;t have a use for the smallest, but as I've discovered, once I do have something I often find a use, or create a use, for it:

These next two items were freebies. No bid or no pay items that they gave me as 'parting gifts' when I picked up my winnings. A Walworth wrench and a set of t-handle hex keys.

Oh, and that lovely Lassy? Here she is, a 12F in all her glory. I've been wanting a hand tapper for some time and this low-activity auction turned out to be the place to finally get one. It came with the two fences for the table and a set of 16 collets that I need to take a closer look at. Seven of the collets had taps installed in them, so a minor bonus. It appears to be in quite good shape. Clean. Well lubricated. The only thing missing is the adjustable weight arm lever for 'automatically raising' the wheel and tap away from the work after the tap is unthreaded from the work. While the top arm on the frame has a machined mounting point for the lever, the mounting area looks clean. No witness or shadow marks, so I don't think one was ever installed on this tapper.

Due to some ‘influencers’ on this site, I have some ceramic utility blades and workpro folding knives. Also shown is one of the ceramic blades in a Gerber folding utility knife I keep in the car. Also found a set of Wera screwdrivers for >40% off the Amazon price!!

Oh, and I also swung by Lowe’s and bought 3 more of the $10 Dremel kits that I posted above. I’ll take one to the lake house and leave the other two for the son and SIL.

Those look great! I feel like everything is so well thought out and then the logo is a last minute addition. Maybe move it to the brace just below the direction switch?
Thanks man. Not to hijack the thread, but that's not a bad idea! The logo placement was a bit of an afterthought - figured it was best to place it on the head like typical manufacturers.

What is "Amazon arbitrage" ?
I'm overseas right now, so it's the name I've given to the practice of comparing the price available on the local Amazon site against other places like Amazon US and Zoro. If it's a good/great deal, I grab it.

It'd be like shopping on Amazon Japan while in Japan to eliminate shipping. Because, that seems to be where the pricing advantage disappears...

Found a small Milwaukee M12 charger to pack in my tool bag. Pick shows it compared when separate and with battery installed. It can also can be used as a power pack to recharge phones etc.
It’s pretty slow, but changed a 2 amp hour battery in about 2 hours. It uses a charging brick with usb c to power it. I always have several chargers with me so seems it will work out well.

Is that a Milwaukee product, or aftermarket?

$16 and change on Amazon US right now, but I picked it up for the equivalent of $5.15; couldn't let it go at that price. Damn algorithms pushed the local price to $40 now...

Aftermarket, I normally stay with the brand of the tool, but couldn’t find anything from Milwaukee except their charger for the heated jacket that was ridiculously expensive and got terrible reviews. This can be used with the jacket, but got decent reviews.
I found it on Amazon and is the Calicut brand.

That's what my first oil filter wrench looks like. I still have it, but don't use it as it's too big for the filters I have now.

My first car, the filter was below the exhaust manifold and stuck out sideways. I couldn't actually see it from above. I didn't lift the car to change the oil. I used that style wrench with a ratchet and an extension to loosen it. I think they had the socket type oil filter removers at the time, but I wasn't sure of the size so I got this one at it would fit a range. This was over 30 years ago and the local auto parts store had it. I just looked at it. Doesn't say the brand, but it says made in USA. It worked fine for as long as I had the car. The way I took the filter off, only this kind or the socket cap would work. The strap kind with the built in handle wouldn't work as there was no way to rotate it easily from above unless I was Gumby. If you went at it from underneath the car, there were likely numerous options that would work.

I have that strap kind now with the integrated handle and it worked on my previous car and my current truck just fine. I bought that one long ago too at the auto parts store. I haven't needed another one since.

I agree that type is versatile, but despite being tool guys, buying oil filter wrenches for "just in case" isn't likely to happen with me. I don't know if I'll ever use that one again, but can't get rid of it now can I?

I'm really loving VIM Tools even though they are made in Taiwan. A small company (25 employees), always something new and fresh, quality tools, and decent prices. Great customer service too.
I grabbed this double swivel impact adapter set. Nice for odd areas.

Stopped by HD to see if any Klien tools were on sale. Been stopping by occasionally ever since I read here about the great sales I missed. Just got a small multi-bit screwdriver set for a couple of dollars off. But can’t seem to walk out without spending too much money.

Astro 1/4” Nano Ratchet Long 91410

The head is awesomely compact and comically small compared to my mid-90s Craftsman raised panel 1/4” ratchet.

Back drag seems a tad high, I’m sensing it needs a drop of lube and breaking in a bit.

Love the length.

I’ve been tossing around several options for a small, portable, self-contained japanese style pull saw.
I found a couple folding options I liked, but finally settled on this OLFA.
The rubber grip is not obviously noticeable in the product images; it was a nice surprise and offers a solid hold.
The included blade is very sharp and well machined. Both blade and handle are made in Japan.
I like that it works with standard 25mm snap blades too, of which I have plenty.
