Picked up one of these 36" pipe wrenches at Harbor Freight for $25. Can't beat the price, even if the quality is so-so. If I ever need something bigger than that we have some 48" aluminum Snap Ons at work I can borrow.

Finally purchased a Handy Motorcycle lift, used them back in the 70's and 80's when I was a Honda motorcycle tech.
No more kneeling down on the ground.
Nice, looks like they have totally redesigned the air lifts, is it a jerky as the older lifts? I have a couple of K&L's at work that have a 48" lift, that are a God send but any lift is a good lift.
Nice scoot.
Another thing the newer clamps unless they changed only have a set of holes on the cross bar that holds it horizontal, I drilled it so I could face it down, never in the way but always there.

SK shears, surprisingly robust and heavy duty.

Thanks! - based on your post I ordered a pair from Mr. Bezos. They arrived yesterday and although they are from China, they are finished very nicely. They easily cut thin sheet metal, but will also cut paper (at least initially). I liked them so much, I ordered a second pair.

I had a mixup with an eBay item and the seller graciously sent me a different item (by request) than the item listed. It’s a Gedore deep offset double box end wrench, 21/23mm, to round out my Stahlwille set. The beam is nicely oval shaped, more comfortable than the Stahlwille, but also more slippery. Machining appears less detailed and the box end is a little thicker. Interestingly enough, it looks like they polished the tip of the box ends, presumably to bring the thickness down a bit. I’m satisfied but the Stahlwille appears to be the better-made wrench.

It’s not a perfect match but still rounds the set out nicely 😎

Couple things that arrived yesterday. NOS Champion plug master ratchet and Buzzetti flywheel puller.

IMG_9178.jpeg

Ratchet is Indestro made. An eBay seller has these at a price that isn’t a screaming deal but decent enough and it’s always fun to try an interesting old ratchet in new condition.

Flywheel puller will help finish up my moped rebuild. COO Italy which fits the bike!

Wish that it was a 12 pt...

Why? The only time I use a 12-point, it's for a square fastener, which immediately rounds off with the 12-point.

And, WOW, that cigarette pack shows you exactly how you'll be dying that slow, painful death? And people complain about the black bands here in the US??? No warnings would have stopped my grandfather, died of lung (and other / metastasized cancers) in his 50s after smoking two packs of unfiltered Camels since he was a teen...

That IS a nice looking mini-set, though!

I bought this set for tight spaces so if i have to deal with tight space id go with 12 pt. Cig pack is for the size comparison. Smoking since the age of 15,now 34 so almost 20 yrs of smoking 2 and a half pack a day and have zero issues,i do annual med check and my health is great. Wish i never started tho...tried to quit and gave up after a day,no plans to quit till i die.

No judgement here. Quitting is really hard. I smoked a little in college, and craved second hand smoke for the next thirty years. We do what we can. Glad you're on GJ and love that socket set.

Gotcha. That pic on the cigarettes just startled me.

Another $12 find. 2 ratcheting screw drivers.
My views on this one are mixed , the small ones ratcheting mechanism is awful sometimes slipping , however , the normal sized one is actually not bad and seems to handle a fair amount of torque, I was about to buy a Bosch one but let's see how this holds up , I'll use Mt Bosch bits with it as I don't have high hopes for the bits in these cheaper sets as they always wear quickly from basic use.

After a few months wait the Gedore pliers arrived. Got both for about the price of one. They arrived perfect - no break in required.

Picked up one of the new low profile craftsman 1/4" ratchets as a warranty replacement for a normal one. Last ratchet had insane backdrag that made it unusable. New one is better but meh. It is indeed smaller so it might come in handy.

Nothing to brag about & I normally don't post cheap tool purchases like this but I'm pretty happy. I wanted a new set of long pattern combo wrenches to replace the HF Pittsburghs I have at work that have skipped sizes. 3 times now that caused me to go borrow a coworker's wrench.

8-22mm no skips. Generic brand IronCube that I never heard of/seen before & there were 0 reviews on this set on Amazon. Took a chance mainly cause these were fully engraved or stamped rather than laser etched markings (I'm not a fan of laser etched markings on wrenches, sockets, etc). Not bad for $32.... well hopefully they're not made of pot metal! Lol

Not as long as my old Matco USA wrenches (they stay at home now) but perfectly fine for me for a cheap set to use at work. These look waaaay nicer than the short/standard length wrenches I'm using now. Don't need the tool roll they came with at work but it might come in handy outside of work (I've never had one, will keep it at home).

How do you afford almost $20 per day? Not judging either but I quit about 40 years ago and could buy a carton and a half of Camels for what you pay for a pack

@darkzero What do you do for work where you need a no skip set but cheap wrenches are sufficient?
Sorry. I don't want to say specifically but I work in automotive. Not repairs but outfitting new vehicles both domestics & Japanese with domestic equipment so I work with a mixture of metric & imperial/SAE.

I don't need to use wrenches that often so cheap ones are fine but I do need them. And it's not so much that I need every size but certain sizes that the set I have skips the sizes I do need which I wasn't aware of when I started. Really I should have both metric & imperial but that's a waste of money. That set is cheaper than buying the sizes I actually need individually.

Here's my Minor Theory of Wrench Quality:

If you're assembling new things, and/or disassembling fairly new things, you can get by with average or even crummy tools. The urge to have Snap On Flank Drive type open-end (and Flank Drive type box ends) goes up with living in the salt belt, working on older things, working on exhaust/turbos, etc etc.

Not judging either.

But what a way to live a life.

Please try and quit. Not passing judgement, but the future health risks and the fact that you are allocating so much capital to something that is detrimental to your life rather than improving your life demands immediate reassessment.

I say this kindly and as a means of hoping you reconsider your life choices.

Even a reduction of a quarter or half, just to start, would be better in many ways.

I was blown away by the price of cigarettes here in NY, a carton in SA can be had for a packet of 20s here.

I left South Africa as a pack to 2 pack a day smoker and got onto a 24 hour flight. My layover was in Istanbul after roughly 13 hours , I had half a cigarette in Istanbul and felt light headed. My flight to JFK was delayed by another 2 hours. Landed in NY and had a cigarette after waiting 2 hours to clear boarder control at JFK. A pack now lasts me between 2and 5 days and have recently m9ved onto American spirit tabaco with a small pipe and that's lasted me a week with barely a dent in tge tabaco. When I 1st got here , I spent $120 on nicotine gum so trying to quit with gum is as expensive as smoking. The hasle of packing a pipe sees me smoke a lot less and the small pipe itself smokes the same as half a cigarette. But at $17 for tge pack of tabaco I'm not spending $12 every few days on smoking anymore.

Good for you for finding an alternative to reduce your intake.
