IMG_8058.jpegGot the second part of my order from Advance Auto today. 1/4 drive flex head ratchet. I love the smoothness of these ratchets and the fact there is no back drag. I’ve had very good luck with all my DieHard tools so far. I recommend them. Also for those who are wondering these are made in Taiwan.

Based on the looks and Taiwan, I've got those same things from HF Pittsburgh Pro, regular and flex head, and I love them. Tickled pink. Hard to ask for more.

(I can go either way on a quick release button when the detent ball isn't fighting you to the death in the first place, which they aren't on these, and as always, I'd be happier if HF would copy... merely cop-y... the soft grippiness of SO's ratchet handles.)

For the price, though, I'm tickled pink!

SK pliers wrench 10"
Guess the Knipex patent expired.
This does not have a button to adjust, just open full lock.and slide to position.

I believe a French company was making those "pliers wrenches" about a century ago, and Knipex just brought it back and added, you know, precision and modern metallurgy etc etc. Alas, in the time I have for googling right now, I couldn't find it. I've seen the vintage catalog illustration, though.

Maybe an unusual “tool”, but I picked up this three pack of head beanies on Amazon

IMG_4712.jpeg

Quite a deal! I wear something like that but in very thin wool, and just earlier this week bought two from REI... at $25/ea.

Wicking is our friend!

My problem with them is they're so thin and bunch up so small they're easy to lose track of. I also use them a night cap, when the head is buzzed very short in cooler months.

The only problem I’ve got with the Pittsburgh Pro ones is the selector switch is opposite direction which drives me nuts.

IMG_8107.jpegIMG_8108.jpegIMG_8109.jpegNew to me ratchet. Duralast model number 72-126. That number is now discontinued when they switched to Apex Tool Group but they still make the ratchet. This ratchet is made in Taiwan. I’d say circa 2003-04. The Duralast line was introduced in 2003 and based on the font of other Duralast tools I have from that time I’d say it’s from that time.

That's one of those things I've never thought about, maybe because I grew up on unlabelled CMan ratchets. I put a socket on, test, and adjust if necessary.

Now I have labelled (HF PPro, SO) so sometimes I glance at the words.

Same here, the Tekton ratchet in the socket set I keep in my truck is like that, luckily I rarely ever use it but i may still replace it if I find something that fits in the case. Also the reason why I will never buy a Koken ratchet. I've been wanting to try one for a while too but that's a deal breaker for me.

I bought a 3 pack after seeing them here, 6 month later my SO dealer was hawking them, no thanks, I’m good, love them.
Yea, I think it will be very useful, when the time arises.

This forum, causes me to spend money on tools, I didn't know I needed.

Like @Squankum, I grew up on, and still primarily use, old Craftsman ratchets. I don't do ANYTHING with them before spinning them in my hand to test the direction.

Same goes for power drills / drivers. Don't know why, I just never trust myself...

Same here, drives me nuts when switching between ratchets. I won’t buy a koken or any ratchet with a “backwards” selector because of it. I wish I wasn’t wired this way because I really want one of those new TRO ratchets made by a member on here but can’t get past the selector.

Oh I had now idea those TRO ratchets are backwards too, I definitely can't own one now. Well mainly I had no interest cause it's an "exotic" tool IMO & if I owned one I wouldn't use it which is just a waste. Probably too rich for my wallet anyway.

I have 2 Nepros ratchets & for that similar reason I haven't convined my self to use them yet. They are too pretty to scratch. Plus I have plenty of ratchets that I'm happy with to use.

I have the other 2 piece set of mini lisle pry bars, but someone posted up in this thread about this guy as well: so I had to compete the trifecta. Got a new inspection mirror too. Smashed my old one sadly.

IMG_6141.jpeg
You can blame me for posting about the Lisle, but I think it’s a robust little pry bar. The clip is substandard IMO.
