My "new to me" seemingly or mostly unused 1/4 6pc and 3/8 5pc SK wobble extension sets
with mostly complete 1/4 6-point shallow and deep SK MM socket sets.

I am calling out this seller for being an enabler.
I will be retaliating by giving him a positive rating, and by sending him a link to this thread.

Harsh, I know.

I decided I wanted to see what all the fuss was about for these nano sockets and a long ratcheting handle.

For those of you that want an easy search

And I now have these ordered

Astro 78313 13-piece 1/4" & 3/8" Drive External Torx Nano Impact Socket Set

Astro 78215 Metric 1/2" Drive Low Profile Nano Impact Sockets 15pc

Astro 78211 SAE 1/2" Drive Low Profile Nano Impact Sockets 11 pc

And I am now getting the ____ back out of this thread.

Cheers.

Those are all money makers, at a low price. Don't feel bad for buying something cheaply priced, but valuable. I was torquing some transmission bellhousing bolts with a 3/8 drive 9/16 swivel. Could I have used a chrome swivel? Sure. But the astro impact swivel has enough flex, without any annoying droop.

Better to have and not need....... like a sweater really.

Yesterday was a great day! Earlier this week I had begun to look for an old USA made bench grinder to add to my garage... and low and behold, this beauty was listed within 5 minutes of me looking on FB Marketplace at lunch! It was an hour away, but luckily I was the first to message the seller and they agreed to hold it until I got off of work @ 4. So the wife and I hoped in the truck and headed west for Daleville. It was listed for $150 and I couldn't pay them quick enough!

If my research is right, the serial number on these is what dictates the month/year built, so may of '74

Additional info:
- The seller said the guy he bought it from had rewired it
- The base looks to be from a drill press? With a wooden block at the top
- Looks like it was repainted at some point, but i'm not 100% certain
- It runs nice and quiet and is as smooth at silk!

That base has the same shape as my big Baldor, looks stock to me.

ChannelLock week continues …. Picked up this 8” Wilde-made pry bar. Meadville is about an hour away from my lake house and I have a real affinity for the ‘ChannelLock Blue!’ 🤪😜

IMG_4012.jpeg
I like the bright blue. Might have to get one. My dark red Wilde bar gets all grimy and turns almost black and becomes hard to find under the hood or in a pile of tools. I really wish they sold the 8" bar in the orange Lang rebrand

If you don’t like the grime, check out the Hyper Tough Wilde-made bars. They have a black handle and should hide the dirt. They’re also only $23 for a set of three.

Some more Ampro stuff arrived.
Bought a 2nd wrench set because it's nice to have duplicates and I haven't seen anything at this quality level on ebay or anywhere else for twice the money as far as the wrenches go, $49.50 incl shipping.
Then there is the socket set , $75 incl shipping which is basically what I sold one of my slightly better equipped Gedore socket sets for when I left SA but the US is a different market and had I known what I know now , I'd have brought my other sets over isntewd of selling them. Next on my list is a 3/4 and 1 inch socket set in 6 and 12 pt , there after I have some gaps to fill.
If I didn't lose my 1/4 Ampro set in SA during a move I'd have a 1/4 , 3/8 and now a 1/2 6 pt set.
I have to say , like the 1/4, 3/8 , the blow mold of the socket sets ***** though. The blow mold is collapsing on this as it did in my 3/8 and 1/4 set , I'm sure I'll have a couple of holes and smaller sizes disappearing soon underneath it.

I believe those are new old stock. I dont know who in Taiwan made those for Ampro, but they are very well made. I have the DBE deep offset set and combination offset box set from that same generation. Nice find.
I was searching for King Tony or KT pro as i was curious to see if they were avaialble here as theyre quite popular in SA amoungst some of the pro technicions , especially thier torque wrenches and saw a king Tony wrench that looks identical barring the brand stamp , so perhaps its King Tony who made them? This is speculation ofcourse and I may be way off. Regardless, I just bought a 2nd set as at that price these are hard to ignore.

King Tony isnt very popular in the US. Unfortunate, as they offer some nice tooling; the few things I have are well made.
I dont know who is making Ampro wrenches but I have wondered if Rotar is finishing them. The water satin finish is impeccable. I’ve had my 75° offset double box end set for years.

Where did you pick those up ? I'd love a set and where does one actually find Ampro in the US ? The website isn't very helpful and seems to not have been updated since 2019.
I have SA forged gedore offset combination wrenches in metric and German forged double offset box ends in SAE that are still in SA that I need to still fetch but those go up to 1 inch I think and the combinations up to 22 or 24mm. Right now my compromise is a 3/8 12 inch breaker bar and a shallow socket when I need an offset which is , at best , a compromise.

I'm surprised KT and Ampro aren't more popular here and that HD sell so many Husky tools as those with the exception of a few items , I find to be below par and not always priced accordingly.

I’ve had thin DOE metric wrenches on my want list for a long time, but havent been fond of the cheap options and couldnt stomach the expensive ones.
I came across a sweet deal on some Facom 31’s and finally pulled the trigger.

set of unior torx sockets of ebay for £10, was a little rust from standing, but i dont think they have ever been used, i cleaned them with a mini wire wheel on a multi tool and they look unused, i also won a set of 4 HEX sockets for something like £3 or 4 plus postage , german made VBW brand which seem decent from a quick google

I don't know that people buying tools at HD would necessarily shop around for better tools, including me when I really need something right now.

Well, since I picked up a Ridgid Drill/Driver combo for $10 at a Garage Sale (see 2024 Garage Sale thread), I am embracing yet another cordless platform!! The $10 set came without batteries, so while walking around at HD this morning, I looked to see if any were on clearance. Nope, but I did pick this up. Here I go down another rabbit hole … 🤪😜
