This just arrived in the mail Snap-On SP744

Should make assembling my ratchets easier, well, my older Craftsman USA made ratchets anyway. Those are the only ones I have needed to take apart. All my other ratchets are young enough there has been no need.

snapon_01.jpg

Should work better than the two tools that I made to do this. I mean the tools I made do work, but the detent / hole should hold things in place better. The version I built I considered adding a similar feature but it is a it narrow for it. I made mine from Stainless Steel Cotter Pins.

Thanks. No, They are 3D printed.
I considered buying a 3D printer just to make things such as this. I used to own one but it was too slow to be reasonable (years ago, one of the first early prototypes so i gave it to my nephew). New ones are much faster, but then, if I cannot just find pre-built models I need to learn to make my own.

Very nice, I like what you have.

Got to love Snap-on Thursday. Got these double box end wrenches which are awesome I use my coworkers all the time. He had to order these they took 3 weeks to come. The he put a new Allen bit in my 2.5 socket that I got from four.cycle. My only complaint regarding the wrenches is that it has two 15mm like come on I’m not a Ford or GM tech or Mopar tech lol. It gives you 14-15 and then 15-16. I’d prefer if they left off one of those 15s and gave me a 21 but it is what it is lol.

Decided to hit a shop up today that seems to get a good amount of quality tools every so often and found a snap on 212SFSMY set for $90. They have a layaway promotion doing 15% off when you put 15% down so I put it on layaway and it came out to $76. I’ll probably go pick it up Saturday after work. It’s missing the 8mm which I already have and the 9mm was replaced with an extra 11mm, but for $76 I couldn’t pass it up. Stock photo for now until I pick it up.

A few new additions.

Klein flip socket screwdriver (came in super handy when taking our dryer apart). The magnetic inserts inside the sockets is a nice touch. I like this more than I thought I would.

Klein voltage tester. My brother had two and gave me one.

A little stainless pry bar I found on Amazon that is made in the USA. Nice machining. I should have put something next to it for scale, it's about 3in long.

Every time I’m in Lowe’s I find myself looking at Klein stuff, but I’m scared that if I start buying it I’ll try and fix our next electrical issue and end up in one of those funny compilation videos of people zapping themselves. At the very least I do need to get a good volt meter for automotive stuff.

Where'd you get them? I got some gaps too.
Bought them from the Snappy dealer that runs our route. I'm surprised he got a 10mm as quick as he did, website showed back ordered at the time. Lol. Price per socket was actually less than the individuals at the parts store, and if I screw them up somehow... I'm at work 5 days a week anyway. 🤣 If you don't have the truck as an option, you can find them on Snap-on's website.

Some Amigo drivers. Super cheap. Gonna load up different bits for different tasks. Thanks @four.cycle for the info.
Had trouble picking a color? :p Do you notice that the gray plastic feels a little more slick than the translucent? I kind of prefer it for spinning on the cap.
I bought a stubby and a standard. Not terrible. Magnet is pretty strong and the hex fits tightly. I think the cap is a little too short, as the groove rubs against my palm while spinning. Fits in a pocket, but it's too bulky to leave it there. Pretty cheap, fills a need I had. I'll give it a shot.1f937-2642.png
He charged me shipping for the stubby and standard separately, then shipped them in the same envelope. (n)

I think I was charged 6 dollars for my order. It was 22.00 total.

My use is just for different controls that have tamperproof fasteners. I'm gonna custom make/load drivers for different controls.

***** they charged you for two separate orders. Reach out a send a message. Maybe they will make it right? GL

No the iFixit sets are different. They sell some of the best consumer precision electronics tools. The iFixit bits are very high quality. I haven't used the Quinn set linked but I've used other (at least two different) precision screwdriver/bit sets from HF and they've all been junk.

Your right, this guy did an overview of some of these kits and it appears the iFixit has better quality:

I’ve been on the fence about getting a powered screwdriver, and finally decided on the new Vessel 220USB-P5U. Three speeds, USB-C rechargeable, and uses standard 1/4” bits.

IMG_2458.jpeg

The speed and torque settings seem to be reasonable. We’ll see how much I actually use it.

Mayhew Heavy Duty Mini Prybar set. (New version just released last month.)
Nylon 6 high tensile handle. 3/16 round black oxide alloy steel blade.
Micro bevel on tips comes to a point instead of just blunt. Not obvious from stock photos. An extra manufacturing step that shows attention to detail and should prove beneficial.
5” OAL. USA.
Set #31093GN (Available individually: Straight 31144GN, Curved 31145GN)

I haven’t seen any mention of these anywhere on the internet yet. YT influencers be slacking.

I’ve been using the Lisle w/ striking cap but sometimes the square blade is annoying when trying to pry and roll at the same time.
First impressions: well thought out, quick test shows minimal flex in blades, and I love the easy-to-see green color.

Apparently there were some issues trying to get the items listed on ebay the way he wanted to list them, so some of the first orders got goofed up.
Just send him a note. He's pretty easy to deal with.
He just put up a FREE TOOLS promo on his website (in which those Amigo drivers are one of the freebies.)

Nice. I like the green. They are for sure "beefier" than their other set with the red handles.

I just bought this exact same set. First thing I did after initial admiration is question that whole 15mm thing….

They're really nice wrenches if you need them. I've had them in the past.

They do come in lots of different size configurations beyond what's in the set, but you'd have to buy them individually or get your dealer to exchange/swap them.

EDIT: I was wrong. That is the P5U model. They make a HIGH SPEED version now too. It has a grey body instead of a black body. Amazon has the High Speed for $40.

Amazon also sells the P5U Model as the 25U Model... in other words... you get the NICE screwdriver shown by LeeG... with a larger set of bits all neatly stored in a hard case. For $79. I will post a link next Friday or Saturday when I get the screwdriver in the mail.

Long story short... there are 4 models... with 3 different Screwdrivers.

I had and returned the high speed model. They have three models.
  • 220USB-1U which is High Torque, micro USB
  • 220USB-S1U which is High Speed, micro USB
  • 220USB-P5U which is multi-speed, USB-C
The 3rd one is more expensive than the other 2 and not available on Amazon yet (or at least wasn't last week when I ordered)

Cornwell haul and some new Snap-on items: 100 tooth ratchet and combination flush cut pliers.

Edit: it is not clear exactly where the Cornwell 120-tooth ratchet is made. It is not stamped or marked USA, the flyer didn’t say USA, but the chrome versions in the catalog say USA.

IMG_4455.jpeg

Also the FLF100 is slightly longer than the FLF80 for anyone wondering.

I will have to look into this one, I've been on the fence as well.
Your design or can I find it on Thingaverse (or similar)?

I’d love to snag some of these. Perfectly minimalist and practical.
I think they were on Printables. They are actually a wrench organizer, but it fits screwdrivers just as well.

What cleaning solution will you use?
Follow-up:

Worked like a champ. Filled the tub with hot water from the tap. Put the parts in a 6x8 ziplock bag, 1:5 ratio of 120ml of cleaner and 600ml of water was enough to cover all the bits and pieces. Used a single 30-minute cleaning cycle.
UltrasonicCarb.jpg

Cleaned everything up pretty well.
UltrasonicCarb2.jpg

Reassembled and reinstalled the carburetor and the generator started right up. Ran for an hour with no issues, then ran it for another half hour the next day.

Tool arrivals for today. First is a pre-owned set of Match ADV 1/2" sockets. They may be made by Sunex (not sure) in Taiwan.... The set looks as though the first owner only used the 21mm deep socket....perhaps for wheel lugs.

IMG_7529.jpg

Second is a set of USAG 285X wrenches from Europe via Mister Worker. These are equivalent to the Mac RBRT. It took about two weeks for the USAG 285X wrenches to arrive from Italy.

IMG_7531.jpg

Here the USAG 285X wrenches are in their Ernst Wrench Pro Organizer:

IMG_7533.jpg

And lastly home in the drawer where they belong:

IMG_7534.jpg

The USAG 285X wrenches are about 30% longer than typical wrenches and come with a storage bag. The 10mm worked like a charm today on a rear brake damper for a F150 where the Tekton 10mm was slipping.
