Somebody at AutoZone HQ in Memphis keeps staring at the spreadsheets trying to figure out why Roanoke leads the nation in socket sales!
Same thing in Bentonville, why does Roanoke sell so many DVD's?

And, in related news, the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce just announced that three new Chinese Buffet Restaurants are slated to open in 2025.

picked up some NOS from this place today: https://ornamentalproductsinc.com/
They have TONS of stuff and it’s definitely not organized lol

Funny thing, if I go into Wal-Mart and the inventory is a jumble or constantly sold out, I get peeved, trying to figure out what they have, what the price really is, squinting at labels, etc etc.

But put me in a used bookstore or record store or a store like that and I get excited, and buckle down and look at virtually everything, knowing there must be hidden gems in this pile.

I’m mad as heck lol. They eliminated the $5 movie bin at the ones here. They have the $7.50 bin only now and all the full priced movies lol. But at least they still carry movies. My mom is actually a very very distant relative of Sam Walton and we have tons of family roots in the entire state of Arkansas maybe they will hear my voice if I complain lol 😂.

We have had a wee bit of inflation the last few years. 50 percent on your cheap movies. Oddly it was only $12 a ticket at the theater last night, but two drinks and two popcorns and one candy was $50.

I don't actually go off enough to know if that's super inflated, but it seems inflated...

But I'm old.

Bought a few things from harbor freight today that seemed very reasonably priced. They have these outlets with magnets to stick to your toolbox and they come in colors that match. I bought one of those along with one of their magnetic paper towel rolls and these are not super cheap. But wow I liked them so much. I went back and bought another.. of each and then one of those magnetic paper power things to put on the refrigerator that my wife will see when she gets home. Living life on the edge.

I paid $14 at movie theater here a few weeks ago and it was a daytime movie too which is cheaper.

Poked my head in at Tractor Supply. Nabbed some SAE because about all I've got in SAE are combo wrenches. I gave my stepson almost all my SAE, because he picked up an older American pickup a while ago. He's since moved, but couldn't take the truck because it developed a wicked leak at the rear main. So eventually I'm gonna have to pull the gearbox and bell housing, and do the job. Also nabbed an extractor set, because my last extractor and bit set busted up real quick (one item I don't recommend HF for). All this for a whopping $20. I know it's not the best brand, but for as little as I need SAE, this should suffice. Can't beat the clearance pricing.

I would strongly recommend a Knipex pliers wrench for AN fittings. I haven't found anything that works better for a non-marring tool that still transmits the needed force.

I actually have that tool, I am going to try these out for the anodized fittings on my hot rods. The aluminum blueprint adjustable wrench isn’t bad.

Whenever I stop by Advance Auto to recycle some used oil, I try to buy something, because Lord knows I don't buy anyauto parts there anymore! Usually when I stroll down the tool aisle all I see is things I just don't want, or things I already have. Today I saw something new that I liked!

$10.99 before tax.

Mini buckets. No idea what I'm gonna use them for yet but yes I did need them & yes I did need that many!

Speaking of mini, well nano actually. These came out a while back & usually cost $35 for the pair or $22-$25ea. For that much I didn't care for them (I have the regular size Titan rotos already). But a few weeks ago they dropped down to $13ea so I had to have em. They're OOS now but can still currently buy them at $13. The spare 1/4" square drive I took to work.

Nice mini ratchets! I have had the offset ratcheting screwdriver from Titan for ages, and love it. So, these are definitely getting added.

Those mini buckets sure are tempting, but look slightly too big to display with any of the stuff I collect--even 1:6 figures. I wish Tractor Supply still sold the mini watering trough and toolbox gift card holders (both steel). The toolbox was just right for placing in the beds of old Tonka pickups (as well as some 1:18s), and the watering trough worked great with most Breyer (and Schleich) horses in various sizes.

I'm guessing those mini buckets will be pretty inexpensive, right?

Next project is on my 1986 MR2. The second and third syncros in the gearbox are pretty weak, and the clutch is the original with about 150k on it. I picked up a supposedly good used transaxle some time back, and went ahead and picked up a new clutch and Fidanza aluminum flywheel. I have zero desire to do this laying on my back, and I have a two post lift. So I picked up a transmission jack on Amazon. Looks to be pretty well made for under $200. But, like all of them it will likely not go quite high enough - I'm 6'4" and my lift goes up high enough I can walk under the car. So I have plans drawn for an extension - I will decide how long it needs to be and machine it from steel once I get the car up the air.

Yes they are pretty cheap but can be hard to find. Most stores (around here anyway) don't display them. I assumed they would be next to the mini tool boxes but you gotta ask the paint dept. They usually keep em there behind the counter. That's how I got my first 3, all they had left even though they showed 54 in stock.

My suggestion is if any of your stores show stock online, place the order online for pickup. Better chance that way but here the inventory numbers weren't that accurate (no surprise of course). That's how I got my last 7, showed 151 in stock though.

Yes pretty inexpensive, 98 cents.

Hi Mike! LOL - believe it or not, I fit. Just. But only the hardtop - with T-tops or a sunroof, the roof is thicker and I don't fit.

Toyota did test the feasibility of a convertible MR2 - Toyota had Modern Motors in LA turn about 15 '86 and '87 hardtops into convertibles and sold them. I ran across one at a car show in LA some years back. A strange sight!

@darkzero Damn You... I collect tiny tools... got both ... one of each. Wanted some buckets but I have a collection of metal paint buckets that I have not used yet. Some that size... this place is the most expensive free forum EVER !!!
Do you have any tiny tools to work on squirrels? Didn't you used to work with animals? I know where you can get a set, only used once.
