Did somebody say something about Vessel screwdrivers?

Got my first today!
The big box of Phillips (JIS Phillips) from HJE, $56.95 before shipping.
The wee three, from Amazon, $11.96. (Ph 0, 00, and one wee slotted.)

IMG_0054.jpg

My GJ research in the past week has taught me "JIS doesn't really exist, it was replaced by DIN # which was later replaced by DIN # but anyway the Vessel tips work best anyways." (Kind of a summary of many threads I looked into, there.)

The box arrives, shouts JIS!

My initial impression, haven't used them yet: you know how there's that one guy who's always running around moaning about "two part composite" screwdriver handles, why make it part slippery plastic and part grippy? Yeah, well, same here. I'm spoiled by Wiha. I want grippy all around. Even Klein has meh for ergonomic shape but has the super grippitude which is grippiest by far. Contour of the handles feels just right, and people at their CAD/CAM screens in Japan never imagined mitts this monstrous using their tools.

Wright 32426, 1/4" ratchet

The handle looks funky but is actually really comfortable and easy to orientate with the square profile. It has some mass to it, so the balance point is about in the middle of the ratchet's overall length. The head is very small at ~21.5mm across and the handle is also on the shorter side at ~120mm overall or ~110mm from the center of the anvil. Finish and production is very good with no visible grinding marks despite this being the satin oxide version.
I just got the chrome version of that ratchet. I'm not really a fan of round head ratchets, I like to be able to see and feel which way it's set, but this is a very handy, very small ratchet, which makes up for some of that.

Got my hands on one of the new Harbor Freight Icon Work lights. Very similar to the $180 Snap on. Trying to attach photos....icon1.jpgPXL_20241030_125346316.jpg
You’re a poor influence! I work right down the site from a larger HF. Went on lunch and made a quick stop. I’ve never handled the snappy one but so far I’m pretty impressed with this light just in terms of quality and fit and finish!IMG_1602.jpeg

Three Taiwan-made 3-arm pullers (3, 4, and 6 inch) and a set of 8 inch arms. China (PRC) made harmonic balance puller. (+ one junk two-arm puller) from a Craigslist deal. More cheap paint removal attachments for drill motor from Harbor Freight. A few brass brushes from McLendon's. Some S-K pieces and some Indestro from @d42jeep that I need to complete a set. Oregano from co-op. Thanks Don!

Here's a couple from Amazon that showed up yesterday.

I haven't needed a timing light in years. Then when I needed it, I couldn't find my old Craftsman. Hopefully this one will be as reliable. The tach feature is nice. It's already confirmed my suspicion that the tach in my car is reading high.

I also picked up a tool to hold the crank pulley so that I can properly torque the bolt.

I was trying to see if I could buy the M12 3/8 ratchet, charger and battery separately to save money. I opted to buy this new open box set for $130. I see now since my purchase, they are selling them $10 dollars cheaper on Ebay. Oh well.

I'm Sorry! lol when they release something that so closely matches the overly expensive tool truck option I just have to say something. May do a full comparison on the youtube channel.

I don’t have the snappy one. I’m just a casual user so I can’t justify the snappy one. Im sure the snappy one is even better than the hf one.

Snap-on got me today lol. New rolling seat with drawer. Two new 1/4 drive ratchets and a set of pink shears for the cause. The ratchets are model numbers TKF72 stubby with a 2023 date code and then the mid length one is TL72 and it’s a 2024 date code. I’ve been looking for these two lengths for a bit and he just happened to have them today. I know everyone will say I paid too much for the stool but honestly I am tired of breaking the cheap ones after a few months so decided to get a nice one this time. It even has a drawer on it too which is what I wanted.IMG_0834.jpegIMG_0837.jpegIMG_0835.jpegIMG_0836.jpeg

You people just don't get it. The Snap-On one shoots a higher quality of American photons at things, that bounce back to the eyeball in a much more uniform way.:)

You sir, know where to spend your money for bang for bang for the buck!

(Full disclosure, I am sneaking into Dual 80 land now but am perfectly content with my old Cman chrome sockets.)

Now I have one, too.

I have a car with a mystery failure point. I contacted Lisle to make sure this was fine with a car that uses non-resistor plugs and has an ignition resistor ballast. (I didn't see why not.) They didn't see why not.

Ha ha, yup… I’m content with the light for my level of skill and use. If I was a full time user I would get the snappy one but I can’t justify the cost. I like you am venturing into the dual 80 land and still use craftsman or sk sockets. Gotta spend the money where it is maximized! I have purchased both the ratchets on discount by being slightly used👍

I'm willing to pay for more for USA photons. 😉
You realize at the quantum level a photon is a photon and cannot be tagged as domestic or international?

Water molecules from dirty Chinese piss are the same as water molecules from a clean Colorado mountain spring.

That being said, I prefer domestic sources.

But of course, even though my physics classes were a few decades ago, I know how hard they are to measure especially country of origin. 😁

Not to be a stickler or continue this off-topic side conversation, but you know Snap On doesn't sell any lights that are actually made in the USA? To the best of my knowledge and what I've seen on their website, they too are made in China.

Correction: You can measure either its COO or its energy, but never both. See Heisenberg.

I'm actually a crank about that ICON light. The Braun is now cheaper than it used to be, and if the battery goes bad, you can just unscrew the cap and swap it out. Also, you can get a charger and more batteries and swap freshies in quickly. So I'm happy here in Braun land. Also, the $8 2-AAA LED penlight. Those are awesome, too.

550 XP Mark III 18 inch bar
I have a bit smaller Husqvarna chainsaw. I struggle to keep the oiler working and it is hard to prevent it from leaking oil (sends oil where it should not go). Due to that I would be hesitant to ever buy this brand again. It is a struggle to keep the chain lubed and I am cleaning out and rebuilding the oiler far too much.

I hope that you have better luck on this issue than I have. The saw starts easy and runs well enough though. So it is a shame the oiler is so bad.

Same here with my Dual 80's.
I want to print up T shirts that read SNAP ON: Never Pay Retail.

Good one. Mixed unit economic uncertainty if you substitute "energy" for "cost."

But in these interpretations you are also assuming that you are a classical, but non-interacting, observer that can collapse the wavefunction.

I have the 562XP and it's unbelievable how trouble free it is. OP will love the autotune.

Arigato @neophyte , as it was your posting in another thread that made me realize I needed this (wanted is more accurate).

Straight in from Japan......... IPS SBB-165.....Slip Joint, spring loaded, curved long nose pliers. It was the slip-joint aspect that intrigued me and seemed like it could come in handy.

Grip material feels like a thinner version of what SnapOn has done. I have the slip joint long nose pliers (all 3) by SO.

So yeah, I may have a pliers problem.

I had a similar issue in my older Stihl MS441 and could never figure it out. Hopefully this doesn’t happen to this one.
