Two micro bit sets. The IFIXIT set is substantially higher quality than the Snap-on: better selection of bits, cleaner cuts in the foam, two tone foam, more legible markings, anodized aluminum handles (with a bearing in the end cap!) vs. poorly fitting plastic swivel caps. I’m a Snap-on fanboy but they missed on this one! Maybe the bits are tougher, but I doubt it matters on #000 phillips screws.

Now that is a great box! While I feel the same as you about it for personal usage, I could imagine it as the perfect box for quite a few of my friends who just need very few assorted tools and a drill/driver for the most basic home and mom/dad use (kid’s bike, toys, furniture, garden …). Very neat solution to sit on a shelf in a garage or basement with absolutely no clutter or being ‘overkill’, and when no designated ‘work space’ exists because it isn’t needed.

Thanks for showing this, I didn’t even know it existed. Now I know what I will recommend when asked by one of them for a couple of tools and a box for the most basic home needs.

Really, really cool!

Kind regards,
Olli
I agree, it would be a great box for a person with limited tools and space! They run really good sales on them pretty frequently, I think one of their facebook posts offered a buy one get one free deal.

For some reason, I just find this little box cool.

So I did a little searching and found it is a Montezuma box. If anyone is interested, here's a link to the website.

Yes, it was a Montezuma facebook group where I won it. They are pushing these Dewalt branded boxes really heavily online and in store (Atwood’s). I’m a big Montezuma fan, my main box is a 30x19 triangle!

Since there was just a discussion on photography tools. Does anyone have recommendations for a long JIS screwdriver set (includes +000) I can put some torque on? I have a lens mount with tiny screws that won't budge at all. It's a lens from the 70s. I'm afraid of damaging the glass and/or aperture mechanism, so haven't gone to extremes yet. The screw heads are already starting to deform a bit.

Perhaps take a look at Wera? I posted (#60,863) in this thread the following, on 12-8-22:

Got a set of Wera Phillips and flat-blade screwdrivers from Amazon, at $5.50 each.
Wera states the 000 and 00 Phillips sizes are "optimized for Asian screws".
Wera states the 0 size is "modified according to Japanese Camera Industrial Standard" ( JCIS 0 )

iFixIt

Just pick a set of tools or individuals. They have JIS.

Are they any better (longer) than these? This is the set I currently have.

I did come across these last night but they don't have +000. I may just buy some bits.

Wiha makes a full range of precision drivers and Wera probably has an equal selection.

Edit- here's the Pico version, which I prefer

I recently got a 000 Wiha (upper style, Poland COO) to complete my little precision driver set
and I am somewhat convinced the 00 fits the screws better...The 000 almost seems "blunter"
and doesn't want to set as deep into the fasteners on our old Canon DSLR 🤷‍♂️

Some various sizes of made-in-USA Mayhew chisels, in 3 tip shapes: cape, half-round, and diamond-point. Bought them at Zoro and Amazon, with an average price of $10 each. Had to return 2 of them (half-round and cape) to Zoro for a manufacturing defect: a twisted nose. A third one also had a twisted nose, but very slight, and I did not bother to return it to Amazon. Some reviewers at Amazon also reported the same manufacturing defects. Mayhew has some mediocre QC at their factory.

I'm on the lookout for that right angle die grinder. Twice in the last couple months, Home Depot had them for $154.00 with a free battery. Missed the boat both times, you had to be on top of it because the sale was over almost as soon as it started. Were you lucky enough to get in on that deal?
Norton, you're up to bat. They're back on sale today.

Not new or for me, scored a nice tool box / cart set for a good friend.

I gave him some tools last year, this takes care of the storage.
Hardly a scratch on it, no dents either.

Drawers already have liners too.

New XFRRM810 from my Snap-on dealer.
And used OEXM290B to add to my collection.
IMG_5654.jpg

Mac tools bolt grip puller set. It might be missing one or two items.
IMG_5663.jpg

Another one of these pliers holders from my snap-on dealer. I still need one or two more.
IMG_5664.jpg

Used Snap-on compression tester kit. All hoses are in good condition so I grabbed it.
IMG_5665.jpg

Incomplete set Snap-on slide hammer kit. Missing some legs. I bought it for the slide hammer itself.

Nothing to exciting but my replacement T30 Security bit showed up yesterday. Capri was great with the warranty, I shouldn't have used the security on an impact, it snapped right away. Then moved to a regular T30 w/out issues. This was to take out a screw on GMC 1500 rotor.

Have to shout out Capri for the fast and easy warranty!

I always tap it in once on the bolt, rotor screws tend to seize up over time.

If you are still working on it, put a dab of anti sieze on that screw for future work.

New Teflon liner for my old Millermatic 120. I tried running stainless ER 308 wire in it and it didn't work out well with the steel liner, so hoping this solves the problem. I need to repair the jacket of an insulated SS tank and I think I'll be better off using MIG than trying to TIG it, as there's a fair gap where the jacket was cut with a cut-off wheel. Whatever, it won't be purty.

Broke this two or so weeks ago (first replacement shipped to an old address). The issue was using the security vs a solid one. Just too weak with the hollow center for an impact. That was my fault. We sure id add some anti seize, just glad nothing stripped.
