Every couple years since I've owned this house I've had to call a plumber out to snake my drains, and had what I thought was 'a guy' that was both good and affordable but we had a bad freeze a month or so ago that apparently swamped him and every one else I called with more work than they can handle and resulted in their more than doubling their asking prices for doing so. >$300 min charge just to come out seemed way too much for something I have had done for $100 before just a year or two ago.

So, I dropped $400+tax on tools at HF last week. They both worked great. I hope to never have to use them ever again, but if/when I do I won't be needing a plumber.

Now I got to come up with adding wheels somehow to the 50' auger because that MF'er is waaaay too heavy to be lugging around. I'm leaning towards making a small tray for it that lets me move it around with a dolly.

I would mount that on one of those convertible hand truck platforms. You can either wheel it in on two wheels, or as a four wheel cart once extended.

Having done some plumbing when I worked commercial maintenance I keep toilet auger and a drill powered snake unit on hand.

Of course I invested in specific hand tools thanks to seeing what works and what doesn't.
For a larger clog I can always rent a bigger unit at Home Depot.

Be cautious snaking pipes, have seen people do some serious damage to their plumbing.

Saw an ad on FBMP for this Wright 3/4” bull bar and extension for $30, so I went and picked it up.

IMG_2731.jpeg

While talking with the guy who sold it, I found they had some other tools. I ended up paying more than I wanted for something I didn’t really need, but couldn’t pass on it.

IMG_2728.jpeg

A made in USA 24” adjustable wrench, a bunch of Snap-On flare crows foot (1” - 3”), and some MAC standard crows foot. Also a few 1”+ combination wrenches, USA & Taiwan. $500. It was more than I wanted to pay, but less than they really wanted to get, so I think it was fair.

When I got back home from Sequim Tuesday, this gem was laying on my front porch:

buck saw 032725.jpg
buck saw donated by a fellow hiker who is awaiting the "after" photos

@Theronswanson was asking about lawnmowers, so I check out the local CL listings and scored this 20016 Toro for $40 bucks. I'll order a new carb for it from ebay and get it running properly.
The tires are bald, so I'll probably do the Hillbilly Tire Retread on them. Should be an easy flip in about a month when the weather warms up.

After checking my kit after reading the most recent "first aid kit" thread I picked up a couple pairs of tweezers, but didn't take a photo of them.

Haven't seen that trick before, that's pretty cool. I don't think I'd want to use screws, they'd inevitably fall out and find their way into one of my tractor or vehicle tires.

The main issue is my home is well over 100 years old. 20 or so years ago there was a 1/2 floor addition and a couple more bathrooms added and as I understand it that's when all the cast iron sewer was replaced with PVC and the new pipes followed the same route as the old, which I'm told isn't ideal BUT anything different will cost $$$$ (well past the point of unaffordium). The entire system has been camera'd and no real issues found that need repaired. Nothing broken, no bad fittings.couplings, no roots, etc. It's a little bit just how the house plumbing is laid out, and even more so it's a futile effort to get the wife and kids to not use the **** out of the garbage disposal. That's where it clogs at every time and requires snaking it from two directions to get at the 2" kitchen and the 4" it runs into.

I really like the handles on those. I have the same quick-release 1/4" ratchet shown in the picture. The design defies the generally bad results that come from scaling handles down to 1/4" size. The Wright contour grip is another example that scaled well.

In my opinion, Proto went backwards with their handle design for the precision 90 line, granted you would only ever really notice on the smaller sizes. It's kind of insane that the precision 90 line came out in 2017... and there still isn't a quick-release version. Innovation is slow.

It looks like you could add wheels to the attached frame by drilling some holes in the back and removing the front pads.

Gotcha. Might be better to just remove the garbage disposal?

I haven't had to have our pipes cleared, but I'm thinking about it. The toilets clog WAY too easily, especially in recent years.

Garbage disposals are indeed annoying. We've shifted to composting. Dump vegetable matter and bread bits on the garden. Ravens like the bread, compost it out, and I till it under. Deer / vegetables same.

New mower, my old one gave out on me last fall. It was 10 years old so I got my money’s worth out of it. Bought this one a couple of weeks ago at work when we had Team Member Appreciation Days. It’s the cheapest push mower we sell, but I don’t need much as we live on a corner lot and it takes me about a half hour to mow (actually a bout 45 mins if you include moving everything like the picnic table). Haven’t got to use it yet because of the rain.

I wish I could have a garden. I work too way many hours most of the time to keep up with one, often >90hrs week, and have too many other projects I need to tackle whenever the hours do let up a bit. Besides that, getting any sunlight in my backyard would require taking out >80 year old trees which I'm not want to do. They are my garden, and don't need any composting.

Speaking of projects, tore out some walls last weekend for a bit of a remodel. Hanging the drywall this time should go a bit faster.
Dewalt DCF630 Drywall screw gun, DCF6202 collated attachment, DCB208 8ah battery, and an extra 5 pack of bits for the collated attachment

Also just picked up a Dewalt DCC020I 20v Tire inflator and a Milton S-934 gauge

What doesn’t feel right about the 1/4” Precision 90? I’m looking at dumping my current 1/4” stuff and I MAC doesn’t make a long 1/4” with chrome handle so I’d have to go Proto.

I don't usually pre-order, but did use the Acme 10% off the other day....new angle die grinder. One wrench change is NICE, the trigger is nice, and the lowest speed is slower. Head is about the same size but longer.

Had a Tekton Gift left over from my birthday so, I picked up a few Tekton Goodies. Locking pliers with swivel feet/jaws. A compact but beefy wide jaw adjustable wrench, and a pair of snap ring pliers.
I also got probably the smallest bit ratchet I've ever seen from 711 tools from Amazon with a lollipop bit driver. The bit ratchet has a hex shaped handle so, you can insert it in a longer bit holder. The lollipop driver has a knurled aluminum shaft for excellent finger spinning with a strong magnet for bit retention. The red free spinning cap pulls out, and you can rotate it downward in a groove making a 90 degree handle for more torque.

5 pack of Milton 1750 safety exhaust couplers came in. Luv how these things work, and work with different couplings. Ordered a couple weeks ago and had just about forgotten about them.

And a little over a week ago I snagged up this assortment of tools off GJ Classifieds (thanks mopar66!). It's an odd mix of tools, everything in good condition, and more than a few are things I really wanted.

Stupid tools for a stupid wood project. Why they stupid?, cause had I thought this out on Thursday before I left my shop that’s 120 miles away the only thing I would have needed to buy is a fresh 12” blade.

IMG_1456.jpeg
Btw, those ryobi counter sink bits **** balls, don’t buy them. I tried both the #8 & 10 and the set screw won’t hold the bit and yes I’m on the flats.

Handles are a bit small, but that assures you get a good blood blister when the handles pinch your index finger. I thought Crapsman held the patent for this design in the 90's.

Never again to search for the right size to press something,IMG_3166.jpeg

I joined the cheap import bushing driver bandwagon 😂 This set is from Vevor and seems decent overall. The case looks more robust than some of the other options and they were just as cheap.
