Some miscellaneous and NOS items from a local estate sale. The spark plugs were mixed in with the snips lot, the router is old enough to have be USA made, never opened. I was most excited about the full boxes of USA Lenox files!

Had some vine and tree branch trimming to do, so I ordered these from Superior Fruit Equipment last week

Went to an estate sale today and then to AutoZone and then to Napa. At the estate sale I got an old Irwin flat head screwdriver. Didn’t need it just I like old screwdrivers and you always need a big flat head for prying or I mean collecting lol.

AutoZone I got a 19mm ratcheting wrench because long ago someone got sticky fingers with mine and I never had it returned and well I could of really used one at work the last few weeks so I needed another one. And I love Duralast Tools. Also got a magnetic spark plug socket with the built in extension on it too for trying out. And a spray bottle because the ones at work **** and I do a lot of flat repairs.

Then at Napa got a set of pliers and a long 6mm hex for the Toyota transmission pans. They were both just wants but I’ll show you why I decided to go ahead and get them.

It looks like Napa has changed suppliers for their hand tools. Still called Carlyle but look much cheaper now especially things like pliers. I’m not a fan of the feel or look of the new tools at all. Guess I won’t be buying any Carlyle anymore after all these old ones are gone. IMG_1776.jpeg

Dang, Blake. If I could have foreseen that wrenching for a living would have allowed me to afford a chauffeur, I might have stuck with the trade. Looks as though I bailed out of that career path too early.

Haha. I like being taken places. Not a fan of driving. I only drive when I’m trying to go meet ladies or to work lol. And I save on gas too.

VERY cool, great find on the router!

The tool creeper is an interesting idea. I typically use a Rubbermaid (or similar) low-profile bin, which slides around just fine without wheels. One step up from a cardboard beer tray, LOL.

Pittsburgh 25-in 1/2 drive comfort grip beaker bar. Actually bought it about two weeks ago for $15, but hadn't put it to use. Got a pretty much rusted stuck garden cart wheel off with minimal effort. The existing tires are kind of dry-rotted, and I ripped the stem off one last year (this is why large-handle Schrader valve tools are for HVAC stuff, and why tire-specific tools usually have tiny handles on Schrader wrenches) using a Schrader bit (which I put in place of the Robertson bit) in a Klein 10-in-1.

I noticed that aside from pretty short (like 12-inch) bars, my Granddad never had breaker bars. Probably explains the probably ten broken (quite often, just shards of the pawl remaining) ratchets I found after his passing that I've either warrantied or bought repair kits for.

On another note, it seems every 13-inch tire I've found is too narrow. Looks like the second tire I've bought's going back. Seems most of the 13x5.00x6 tires+wheels I find are intended as lawnmower fronts, and are pricey. Just checked Harbor Freight, and if these tires are tube-type as it seems, I can get a new tube for $6.

However, I've never changed yard/garden tubes or tires before. Usually, I just buy the whole wheel.

Klein Tools 86700 retractable "marker holder". Admittedly, a Lowe's impulse buy today at $6.

Seemed to have plenty of tension compared to most (which seem about on par with an ID badge holder), and it both weighs near nothing, and is around half the size of a purpose-built tool tether.

For most small tools, Swiss Army Knives (thin 5 layers and under), and pocketknives--it's perfect. Clips to my belt or shorts waistband to keep me from having a knife slide out of my pants--resulting in lost tools that I have to go back and buy--pain in the rear if it's discontinued. It's currently attached to a discontinued Victorinox (ex-Wenger) Delemont Collection Junior 09, which typically serves as a fixed blade+dedicated pliers & pocket screwdriver companion.

Thinking the marker clips it came with should fit on a Maglite Solitaire.

It can be a PITA to get the tire on and off just working with a round shaft or pipe stuck in a vise and using big screwdrivers, which is how we used to do it at the mower shop I worked at. Having a second person definitely helps.

I went to foam-filled tires on my wheelbarrow and utility carts. They're around $10-15 each at Grainger (when you find that Grainger has something for a third what you paid locally, you know you've royally been reamed). It's been three years and never a flat since.

That looks like a perfect place to use a receiver-hitch mount for the vise--no need to go boring holes in that nice plate (unless you intend to make it a fixture table).

Called the snap on rep to see where he was to meet up and he was on his way out of town. I told him I needed to meet with him for something so he stopped his truck and waited for me to get there. I needed an e5 Torx socket and luckily he had one blue point left so I grabbed it. Decided to grab a t72 since he stopped his route for me. Didn’t realize I would need e-torx stuff for older gm stuff. Gonna change out the starter on the ranch truck soon.

This is why I need a breathalyzer interlock on my debit card--especially when watching tool videos:

I have dozens of flashlights--many of them headlamps. I have two Fenix headlamps.

The 18650 battery is what made the inebriated decision for me--my other two Fenix use rechargeable CR123, which are unicorns. I have bags of salvaged 18650s.

I really don't "need" another flashlight--but it was my birthday.

Do tell, my guy might have them tomorrow? It would be the first thing "New" that has interested me in a while.

Thanks!
Yea, I'm not sure it was too popular, there are a number of them on eBay NIB lol. I think it's 90s era if I had to guess. My creeper has little tool tray pockets on the sides that work just fine, but for a couple $$ I figured I'd test it out.
