Its for crowfoot wrenches and to confuse others digging through your box
Ah, ok. I would think a regular short extension and breaker bar with an angled joint could work as well to break something loose with a crowfoot around an obstruction. But I guess it could work out more convenient in some cases. It definitely gives me a chuckle reaction! If really needed you could make something to fit with a cheap extension and an acetylene torch.

That ruler has all the presidents on the back, ends with Clinton.

I used it many time when marking out painted surfaces, non scratch and flexible, I could use a replacement.

Not sure if I still have this floating around in a box in the basement (50% chance or less), but I had one of those, ended at Reagan!

Stahlwille 13210001: when you’re really stretching to keep the new tool train rolling 🤦

That’s what I got this one for…

I'd buy both, because like Mrs. Potato Head said, "You never know!" LOL...

What's the make / model (and intended / best uses) for the second one?

That one is a fake AI image. I was just wondering how useless an extension could theoretically be and asked it to draw that based on the photo of the S shaped one I have

B-day gift. Says it cuts everything. I guess I will be cutting stuff up tomorrow.IMG_2918.jpg

I was at Lowe's last night, and of course had to buy a pair of these!

No, I haven’t tried to open the packaging yet. But, those of you who predict that it'll survive all but a bomb blast are probably right...

I mistakenly left my sunroof open last night, and it rained heavily this morning, but you'd never know that these were sitting (face-down) on the front seat the whole time...

Well, you (or AI) got me thinking! And I'm sure something's been designed in such a way as to need a tool like that...

Just picked this up Sunday on Facebook market place and I doubt it has ever been used.

I had the need to measure a 1000 amp load the other day so the shop bought a meter but I wanted one to keep on my truck.

For $100 I’ll buy this one and will attempt to expense it. This one is good to 2500 amps and also has logging capability.

I should probably post this one in @signcrafter thread for odd ball tools.

IMG_5390.jpeg

Wouldn't call it an oddball with as much fiber construction is going on right now. I have a Ripley/Miller version, use it mostly for ring cuts. I can't complain about any of the Jonard tools I do have. That one should serve you well.

Stopped by Harbor Freight today to take early advantage of their parking lot sale. When I saw those mini toolboxes for $13 I just couldn't keep walking by, they finally got me lol.
- Mini Toolbox
- 18" magnetic holder
- High voltage plier set
- Magnetic parts dish
- Telescoping Magnet
- Icon slip joint pliers
- Doyle water pump pliers
- Pair of cheap trigger clamps, because you can never have too many clamps lol
- BLO (Home Depot)

I got a CIVIVI knife around a year ago. It has been a solid knife, my only complaint is it doesn't stay as sharp as I would like. I probably need a proper sharping setup though.
If you want stupid simple but slow... And good to maintain if the angle is right. Spyderco sharpmaker.

Simple and fast, worksharp ken onion knife sharpener.

Or learn to free hand, might be able to get by with one diamond plate from Sharpal.

Or if you wander into the middle of Ohio, I own lots of sharpening things.

Today I retired the internal snap ring pliers on the right, displaced by the 2 pairs of Knipex. The old one has been used on an estimated 2500-3000 of a particular snap ring used in a product assembly. New revisions to the part this season made it tricky to get the snap ring installed without scratching the part with the extra material outside the prongs. These lower profile ones sneak by with room to spare. The way the prongs are bent inward also makes the snap ring feel more secured from blasting out.

Screenshot 2025-08-26 210330.png These are the budget line from Sidchrome, Australia -Made in Japan.

Bought em cause why not and curious on the quality/similarity to Sidchrome versions, got them for less than 20% of what they would sell for now and well, they are new 1982 -ish tools.

( Full disclosure - only posting this so I can find this thread again) :)

Another day and another parcel (or two) later

BF634, BF604, BF629 and B630. BF604 was on my list of useful body hammers to own.
IMG_0900.jpg

Two missing SOEX wrenches from the set I got previously. And 4 XDHF series wrenches, missing the largest size. I'll get if I come across it cheaply. Now I only need some flare nut wrenches.
IMG_0899.jpg

Two new to me ratchets. TL72 and FKF80. They were cheap.
IMG_0898.jpg

3/8" SAE shallow chrome set.
IMG_0897.jpg

And some cheap Vise grips; 5 really good condition 6Rs, 10 crusty 11Rs and 1 crusty 18R.

How much do Snap On socks cost? Are they cotton or do they have some modern fancyfibers in them, too?

Just thought you should know:

Image.png

They are around $12 a pair. Not bad for quality socks in my opinion. I believe they are cotton. Better than the Mac and Matco socks that wear out really quickly.

Really? Last pair I bought was $6, but that was about two years ago. Dealer usually gives me a pair for Christmas.
The $12 price is after the SnapOn installment loan is paid off.

It's been a while! Time for another Knipex!

10" Cobolts, $59.90 Amazon US before tax. Best I can tell, comfort grips are not available in this size. I have the 8 inchers with comfort grips. I shopped hard and this was the best I could do. German Amazon had an intriguing price but after shipping came ... another fee of some kind... that put it a tiny bit above this price.

Do let us know how much difference there is, e.g. do the narrower grips and extra length cancel each other out in terms of what can be done comfortably with one hand.

Spec capacities are 5.2/5.6mm (+8%) medium-hard, 4mm (equal) hard, 3.6/3.8mm (+6%) piano.

Amazon had a price drop, so I grabbed the new Knipex ES cobras and the last piece of the Astro Pneumatic nano sockets that I was missing

IMG_2988.JPEG

The Cobra's don't really seem any thinner, but I can always use a pair. I knew that this nano socket set didn't come on a rail (all of the other nanos were sold on a rail), but I didn't really see a good way to organize them in my toolbox. I fired up Fusion and made this holder. It works - we'll see how I like it over time, but it allows the rather shallow drawer I keep them in to open easily.

IMG_2992.JPEG

They actually sit at an angle, so it is easy to see the sizes.
