I coat them with 3 in 1 oil.Always wanted a tap and die set. Just in case. But being a home gamer I didn’t want to spend a lot on a set, which is counterintuitive given their importance if you ever need to use it. So I’ve held off.
Found this on marketplace for $40. Guy said he used on tap once. And it’s just been sitting for a couple of years.
I’ve read on GJ about wanting HSS for tap and dies, I have no idea if this is. The tap wrench and one of the taps is actually labeled Snap On.
The two 2-1 tap wrenches are a bit rusty (looking online at used sales pics - this seems to be the norm). And it’s missing one die (need to figure out which one).
All in all I’m pretty happy.
Can someone recommend what type of oil to put on the taps and dies to ensure they don’t rust, thank you.

I've seen and used a fair number of different types of clutch alignment tools, but never one like that. What's the seal for?
I did the Miralax + Gatorade, and I tanked that SOB like it was nothing. I also did one with the other mixture this past December (three-year follow-up), and at first I was prepared to gag, but took that SOB like it was water too. The hardest part is the aftermath and waking up at 2 AM and 4 AM to finish the drink.

I just went through this. Apparently, insurance, or at least mine, has no restriction on frequency of colonoscopies. I had one 18 months ago, had to have another one due to issues. Prep wasn't bad at all, but doctor recommended for next time going on the liquid diet two days before rather than one day before prep.

OMG........you guys want to hear something hilarious??!!!! I work on watercraft for a living and JUST NOW realized that alignment tool I picked up is ACTUALLY FOR A SEADOO!! I've been specializing in personal watercraft for about 17 years now and have NEVER had the need for this tool!! I have always aligned them by 'feel' like I would a gearset in a rear end. I've never stripped out splines in a PTO or driveshaft, so my 'feel' must be as good as this tool LOL!! I'd bet with some extra holes I can use it for aligning a manual trans in a swap application too though. Like mounting up a T5 onto my Buick 264 nailhead.
I have UHC and they require 3, or 5, years after a negative Cologuard test before they'll cover a colonoscopy; I think it's 5. I did the Cologuard test because, "hey, it's free, easy, and supposedly 99% accurate" and then a few years later decided it was time for a colonoscopy and had to wait another year or two before it was covered. The good news is that it was 100% covered and I didn't pay a penny. But I would just go for the real deal, as I said, and skip the Cologuard unless you have no insurance and can't afford the $4K+.
For everyone else, I would recommend getting the latest appointment possible so you don't have to wake up at 3AM on the day of the procedure. My appointment was at 10AM and I got up at 6 for the final washout and needed those 3+ hours. And honestly, we should all probably drink that stuff every few years for a good cleaning out. When I got the solution at the pharmacy, I went to pay and the woman said there was no charge. I said, "nothing's free, don't I have to pay something?" She said, "for what you're about to go thru, you should be paid for it."
We are obviously OT, but colon cancer is seriously on the rise in the US- fit people in their 30s are now getting it, which is historically very abnormal. This is literally a life and death situation. Get a colonoscopy if you're over 50, especially if you have health insurance. Yes, you cannot eat for 24+ hours. Yes, plan to spend the afternoon/evening prior, and the next morning, doing nothing but always being twenty feet from the toilet. I didn't think the solution was that bad; it's not yummy, but it's not totally disgusting.
Agree- looks like something more than an automotive clutch alignment tool.

I finally got into the Milwaukee M12 line, after using my M18 tools for the past 15 years. I like the small size for, well, smaller stuff! My faithful old Bosch jigsaw is showing its age, so I got the M12 jigsaw, too, with an XC 5.0 battery. I have a feeling that like my other corded tools, the corded jigsaw will sit in the case a lot. All of the M12 tools and batteries were good deals for Black Friday/ Cyber Monday.

I know, right?? It's funny cause I've literally aligned HUNDREDS through the years WITHOUT this tool. Everything from the oldest 2 strokes, to the newer 255/260 hp supercharged units, and SEVERAL models with a 2pc driveshaft setup. If you listen to guys on forums it just CAN'T be done, you HAVE to use the tool............blah, blah,blah.You beat me to it. I just used a Google Lens search and this popped up. Pretty much anything will work. I often use WD40 so things will not be super oily to start on tools (gets all over hands etc) and I can buy a a gallon container cheaply and put it in spray bottles around the shop. But heavier oil without the cleaner can be better -- particularly if you live near the ocean or in a humid place. Pretty much anything can work: light motor oil, tap lubricant, 3 in one type oils, etc etc. It will not matter much with tap and dies if they are stored oily, since when you use them you should liberally lubricate and that will get all over things anyway. It is best to prevent rust from starting on taps and dies if you can do so, since even light oxidation will damage the cutting edges. Even if you oil them post rusting the edges will still be degraded.

He made a comment that SO missed the boat, I probably only payed a little more for all three than what his new tool costed, lol.
I told my Snap On guy I want one of his first that he gets of the adjustable ones. I think that's gonna be a killer.
FWIW, it was UHC insurance that had no restrictions on the frequency of colonoscopies, sounds like it is different if you try the Colorguard, or there may be different plans as well.
Also learned that colon cancer is preventable/treatable, through colonoscopies. It starts in the polyps and progresses slowly, so they snip out the polyps during the colonoscopy and prevent them from developing into cancer or spreading beyond the polyp.

This is the message that needs to be received by all. Nobody needs to die as a result of colon cancer. Screening for it is the key, and it's just not a big deal. Cancer is a big deal.

I would clarify as saying it may depend on many factors how much one would want to test. If you have no family history of issues, you might want to test less etc. If you come from a family with a history of problems, it would be prudent to test more frequently and use the more substantial test (colonoscopy rather than ***** matter analysis). Colonoscopy's are not fun and it would be unwise to overdo them if one is not likely to have an issue. But getting checked at some interval past a certain age makes sense, and then if problems are evident test more frequently. I had a friend that died quite young (20s!) of colon cancer and that individual also had a sad family history. That sad situation (not a good way to die!) and a doctor nagging induced me to agreeing to a colonoscopy test that was clear. With a lack of family issues, I can probably be on the low side of rep rates in spite of being upper middle age. Others (like my friend who died with a bad family history) should have started early and been checked more.

Made my first Matco purchase today, picked up the low profile 3/8 metric sockets. They even happened to be on sale! I know I could have got them cheaper from Astro but I'm not a fan of laser etching and kind like them better in chrome.
They have normal socket detents and not a hole like the impact variants so not just chrome plated.
Most already guessed but they are made in Taiwan.

This is only going to be true if you get an "ut oh, you got a problem" screening. If you're all clear, and the doc says, "see you in five years", UHC isn't going to pay for you to go in yearly get more colonoscopies. If they find bad news and the doc says, "see you next year", then yes, I'm sure they'll pay as long as the doc says it's necessary. My Cologuard test was all clear, so I had to wait.

Just saw a story today about some country singer's hot thin wife dying in her early 40s from colon cancer. Again, this is just not normal.
I know this is so very far OT, so I will end it with this post.

Friend of mine died from malpractice getting a colinoscopy, so if you do believe in getting one, I wouldn't do it any more often than necessary. Being in the minority, I feel better staying away from testing for this. Maybe I'm lucky up til this point, but at 65yrs old, It's worked for me. Seems a lot of my friends that died younger died from "complications from xxxx". Complications is another word for malpractice a lot of the time.
$44 is a good price for a FACOM pliers wrench!

My GripEdge DualDrive Torx sockets finally showed up. I can't remember who I learned this from here, but they fit the detent within the Astro Nano 1/4" wrench perfectly. Compare them to the Snap On with a Snap On 3/8" Torx socket. They are both T-55. In the second photo, that is the exact angle i need to approach a particular fastner. It is above me, but I have to reach down into the torx itself. The face of both torx bits is flush to where the engagement would be. So you can see, with the Snappy I was getting quite the wobbling effect due to the odd angle and the downwards force...and...it's red locktited in there. So wish me luck. The GripEdgedoesn't get rid of the wobble, but it will minimize it. Whether it'll succeed in removing the fastner remains to be seen, but it's another option to attack another problem right?

Trying to round out the collection as all of the existing sets were piecemealed together 18 years ago from various pawnshops as a broke newlywed. The nice thing about their rewards program is that this only cost me $49 versus the $138 it would've originally.

I was a little surprised by this as well, but they assured me that there is no restriction on frequency of colonoscopies, regardless of prior results.
There are actually threads on colon cancer, if anyone wants to discuss further.
There are several listings on eBay for under $40 and even a few under $30, so I guess I should've shopped a little harder haha!
This was a pain to actually track down but I managed to get on on a trip to the big cities.
