Got some hd gift cards for Christmas so I used them to buy some much needed gear. Took advantage of the holiday only items to get the pack out set and the smooth jaw pliers! Also got the husky key tool as it was $10 for all 3!

Those smooth jaw pliers look nice. I dont get there other pliers that have the grips end and inch before the end of the handle?

I needed a smooth jaw plier for some chrome parts and was only able to find the channel lock branded ones. So I have those... I like the red handles in the milwaulkees though!!!

Acquired the missing metric and sae wrenches to compete my overdrive set with no skips 🤌IMG_0565.jpegIMG_0566.jpeg

You were able to find single wrenches? Thanks for the reminder, I need to grab the metric set from Lowe’s while still on sale.

Tool storage just doubled

VERY nice. How much did that run you? I love the domestic manufacturing and the 10 year warranty. Be sure to post some photos when you have it set up and filled with tools

I had to buy the set that eBay seller was parting out from the master tool set. I took the 7,9,11 and 9/32 out I needed. Got the remaining that I don’t need listed on eBay IMG_0563.jpegIMG_0564.jpeg

Their other pliers with the exposed ends are supposed to be for reaming out pipe end but I myself would prefer the full grips versus the additional reamer

WEN 12" Variable Speed Cast Iron Benchtop Drill Press with Laser, Work Light and 5/8" Chuck Capacity.

This is the first of three WEN Tools I ordered from HD to be delivered. Waiting for a WEN 2.8 Amp 9 in. Benchtop Band Saw and a WEN Oscillating Belt and Spindle Sander to come in. Weather delayed delivery on those. Also expecting a WEN 24 in. x 12 in. Drill Press Table with an Adjustable Fence and Stop Block for the Drill Press.

Checked and pulled all the drill press parts out of the box to make it lighter to move. Tomorrow I'll assemble and plug it in to make sure everything works as it should.

It's been years since I've been on an actual Snap On tool truck, but still buy a fair amount of SO tools, usually directly through shop.snapon.com.

I've often seen buyers in forums and elsewhere mention 'great deal', etc, but I have no idea what that equates to...

CoThG and any others that buy directly from a SO tool truck. What kind of discount can you typically get or expect on a Snap On tool truck cash purchase? I really like the convenience of ordering online vs. hunting down a local franchisee, but if it really is a significant discount, maybe I should give it a try.

Nice haul by the way...

Every Snap On truck I've been on is an individual franchisee. Any time I ask what the "folding money" price is on something, it's never as expensive as list price. Additionally, the guys on the route are mostly paying $50 a week towards their $40,000 bill meaning that cashflow is a BIG help to the guy that's gotta write the payroll checks. Also, a lot of times, they have trade in tools or sets that have had a bit or part scavenged for warranty that techs wouldn't buy because they're a cash only deal.

Seems like it's better for them (on the day to day) to sell me $1000 worth of tools for $900 than charge full price to a tech on credit. I also like to shop Snap-on online and order pieces from one of the guys trucks that is in the neighborhood; snap on gets their money, but he's also paying his mortgage.

Some gifts I got this year I never posted.
The Dewalt set my son won at work- brushless drill and impact with 2 batteries 20V.
Wiha sets are awesome.
The Vessel's are incredible, the wood handle set is better than I can describe.

Some more gifts.
I like the Hazet ratchet screwdriver, but the bits can move forward in the handle and jam which is a big problem. It doesn't make a ratchet sound which takes time to get used too, But it's very smooth.
Wera calendar was nice.
My wife gets random sets of Wera tools she see's on Amazon that she likes and orders them over the year.

Went through Home Depot's remaining holiday special displays and came home with this stuff.

1000000719.jpg

Three metal Defiant flashlights.
Husky 6 in 1 screwdriver.
3 piece wood handle scraper and putty knife set.
Craft knife set.
Two piece Milwaukee slip joint pliers set.

A follow up to this.

The Milwaukee pliers set was item number 48-22-6330, $19.97 at HD. Here's what you get if you search that item number at Amazon:

1767037815801.png
The first two appear to be genuine Milwaukee, but the others are varying degrees of sneaky. "For Milwaukee. Compatible with Milwaukee." I'm used to seeing cheap knockoffs, but not usually knockoffs at three times the price.

Some more details. This has the same style of packaging shown, but with the Milwaukee branding deleted:

1767038075808.png
My guess is that this is just a photoshop of the actual Milwaukee package, and the knockoffs wouldn't come packed that way.

The genuine ones have the Milwaukee logo on the handle, whereas the knockoffs just have the lightning bolt or nothing:

1767038396286.png 1767038545856.png

But looking closer at the photos, they appear to be the same photo, just edited to remove the word Milwaukee:

1767039082737.png 1767039093073.png
Look at the casting patterns. Almost every speck and grain is the same between the photos. The peen marks on the rivets are also identical.

The knockoff photo was flipped vertically in the listing, likely to throw you off; I flipped it back.

Interesting?

A tool and some things that will require tools:

55012565196_a1b40d781b_o.jpg

A full set of T3 Techniques high-angle CV joints and tire plug kit.

I hope to hell I don't have to be that burly to use the tire plug kit! The kit came free with this:

It's not your father's scissors jack:

Compared to a Toyota jack.
