A few new tool purchases including a Hazet 190 cantilevered toolbox. There's a guy on the TheSamba.com with a great deal on these. Some Facom thin wrenches. In one photo you can see a 10mm Facom thin wrench compared to a 10mm Hazet 600 wrench, and some Wera Hex-Plus L Keys. Woodcraft has these on sale for 12.00 a set right now.

Are the MAC pliers and nutdrivers made in the USA?

Sad in this day and age that you have to ask, but I too would like to know? I actually like how those look... have a German look.

Let me know how you like the craftsman set I got one of the last HF sets. Then found a good deal on the gearwrench set and bought them to I have a bad habit of not being able to pass on a good deal.

 If you dont mind me asking, where did you pick that up from and about how much was it?

Well, it was much too hard to get one to be honest.. My local dealer wanted $511 for it and then 1 week to wait. I checked on-line and found prices all one the map, but the best "ligit" price came from Mile-X Equipment in Ohio.. they actually had it drop shipped from the Baldor warehouse in Hayward CA and cost me $391 inclusive of shipping to Portland OR.

It's massive relative to the usual assortment of Home Depot stuff, and runs almost dead silent... amazingly well built, and well better than what I really "need" ... but it was the only US made option I had, and I won't buy Chinese unless I have no choice.

^^^had those long Allen sockets in my hand today and regrettably left the truck without them. may have to reconsider and pick them up next week. It's a decent deal the more I think about it.

I've been trying to get some thin wrenches for a while, they seem really hard to come by in the uk.

You guys have Snapon in the UK, don't you?

My wrenches are ridiculously thin (and strong).

After messing up some bearings using the ball-peen press and socket method, I've been looking for a used arbor press.

Instead, I decided to use some Amazon gift cards from Christmas to put towards a new arbor press. I looked at Grizzley's 2 and 3 ton presses, but shipping was over $40. Amazon prime shipping is free!

Yesterday my latest tool 'fix' was waiting on my porch when I got home. It's crate is a bit beat up from the trip.

I got it unpacked, good thing it was double double-banded. It was trying pretty hard to get out of it's crate. One tough ******, no damage evident.

I didn't appreciate just how big this thing would be until it arrived: 22" & over 100 lbs. :eyecrazy: <---Me lifting it up to the Workmate.

I'm sure I could find a cheaper used one eventually at an auction, estate /garage sale; if I went to those. Maybe when I retire I'll start haunting them.

Could have used this to press the lower control arm bushings on my wife's car, my Grand Prix, and my son's Grand Am.

Well, it will be put to good use when rebuilding the MGB's front end.

Oh, COO is China, no surprise there.

Indeed we do.

I've got plenty of snap on stuff but I'm not willing to part with the money for some slimline low torque wrenches. It's not like they need to be super strong. The snap on ones are $450! I actually only need a 15mm one in my job, it'd be nice to have a set and the facom set would do me.

I agree. Mac and Snap-On are pretty pricey for wrenches that I only use on rare occasions. I didn't want cheap Chinese stamped wrenches, so the Facom were a nice balance of quality and price. In the US they are available from Ultimate Garage for $85.00
