Very nice Canuckian, I am always at awe of your taste and purchasing ability.

Christmas in July:

PBS704 Ladyfoot pry bars (Craftsman ones come with a protector over a blunt tip, not these!), SHF80A ratchet, torx plus bit sockets, low profile metric socket set, 32mm 12pt socket for rear bearings, 19mm 12pt for lugs, O2 sensor socket, 13mm KTC plug socket for Subaru http://ultimatetoolco.com/13mm/
Orange goodness, stubby from Snap-on, angled from classifieds

@Franzdom...thanks! I apparently don't have great taste in clothes (ask my wife)but I'm happy that my taste in tools is viewed as reasonably good! As for purchasing ability, a lot of it is luck in finding great deals and some of it is just a case of plain ol "gotta have it" :lol_hitti
I do like those pry bars though. Been looking for a decently priced set for a while now. And great color choice on the ratcheting screwdrivers

Been a while. We're in Hawaii now. Still in the hotel, but I've snagged a few things.

well at Dads 89th birthday party this weekend one of my distant cousins gave me some tools that were from my maternal grandfather's automotive garage from the 30s and 40s. they are marked with a V for his last name. these are really cool and I appreciate having them. the most remarkable thing is that I have a favorite 1/2 combination wrench that I have used forever and it really is my favorite wrench and my "go to 1/2 wrench". I never really gave it much thought and it didnt match any of my other wrenchs but I always kept it with my SAE wrenchs. well just out of curiosity when I got home I looked at "my favorite" its a 1/2" bluepoint from 1938 ....it was one from my grandfathers shop and I never knew it....I am going to complete the bluepoint set and keep it and use it. any body have any extra bluepoint OEX stubbys 200,220,240,260,280 they want to part with? thks bob

I've seen your tools...nuthin to sneeze at there! My little guy will basically have a fairly complete starter set when I'm done. it's kind of a gamble with his set really. He might end up not even taking interest in anything tool related. Gonna be one heck of an eBay bonanza sale in about 15 years if he doesn't! I figure yellow snap on should be worth a little bit of scratch by then! Have to pick out a color for our next sons set now(due in Oct). I'm thinking I've got a decent start on red or black. They're a little easier to come by at least. My wife tells me I'm using them as an excuse to buy more tools. I think she's full of it :lol_hitti

He might not be interested when he is 15 or 20 or even 30, but he might later.

I could not care less about anything mechanical or any car repair when I was those ages. But about 10 years ago I suddenly took an interest and have done all repairs on the cars since then, including some automatic transmission and engine rebuilding.

So you might want the keep them for a while.

I am using FACOM tools that are almost 50 years and were my dad, and I love them! (his cars only went to a garage for alignments). Looking back I could have learnt a lot by helping/watching him, but again I had no interest in it (and I learnt a lot in other fields, so it was not wasted time).

My ebay sale remark was kind of tongue in cheek. I doubt I'll ever get rid of his tools. they'll be in my posession ready for him if he ever develops an interest in using them. Same goes for his soon to be brother's set. I'll never use them so they'll be in good shape if that day ever comes. I have a few tools i use every day that I got from my Dad's set when I moved away from home. They're not truck brands but they were bought at a time when even the big box store tools were good quality. He still uses his tools quite a bit as well and they're still in as good shape as I remember. He has added some cheap import stuff in the past few years to replace broken stuff though.

My dad did the same, at age 72, he did not really want to continue doing major work (by himself) on the cars.

He still did the oil change though. So when needed he bought some cheap import tools. But when he realized some were not good, he had no issue trashing them. And I also got him some tools here in the USA that I would bring him. And I would fly back with some French/German tools!

Yesterday I got home to a box from a fellow GJ member with the S-52 and S-53 Williams Superratchets. Now to disassemble and Lube them.
Today a good friend of my dads gave me the two Williams Open end wrenchs. 7/8",1 1/16, 1 1/8, and 1 1/4 open ends.

Found these at the local flea market. Left to right:

Fairmount 705, 13/16"
Williams 5, 7/8"
Williams 31, 7/8" and 25/32"
W&B adjustable monkey wrench
Keystone Westcott No. 78, 8" adjustable "S" wrench
Williams No. 1999, multisocket wrench
Armstrong No. 1-R tool holder

Total for all of it was $15. Not sure what they are worth, but I thought it was cheap enough. Condition is surface rusty, but in time I'll beadblast them and parkerize.

BTW - I love the way the open-end wrenches TING! instead of -clunk- when you bang them together; not sure what type of metal they used making them, but it must've been good stuff!

Also snagged these at a PA junkyard I frequent. They are 1/4-inch-drive torque wrenches, they were IN THE SCRAP PILES, but they seem to work fine. One has a dial measured in inch-pounds, others are no-dial. Total price was $10 for all three.

The one with the dial looks like it's for measuring torque.
worth a bit more then a normal torque wrench.

Just picked this up off craigslist, for $10! It's missing the 3/8 ratchet, and 1/4 ratchet, but I already have those. And had some blackhawk sockets included aswell:D

Every time I go into Sears I look to see if these two guys are there. Well since they were on sale I figured i'd give them a good home. They always put the China ones on top of the USA ones so figured they'd be safe for a while. Of course I did it online and they pulled the China ones. Old guy was kinda confused when I wanted to change them out with the same part # but I expected that.

Gonna sell the other though to pass it along. Don't need two. Just my cost and shipping.

Went to the flea market today in a light mist and picked these up.

Proto No. 6124, 3/4" combination wrench
Pexto 74-6 carpenter's niblers
Stanley square
Williams CC-3A heavy service C-clamp

The Williams C clamp is the heaviest clamp I've ever seen for it's size, it weighs a few pounds! Total cost was $5 for the clamp, and a buck each for the other tools.

BTW - I asked the guy who I bought these from if he had any vises for sale. Said he had some early in the morning, about 3 of them, he sold them all for $80 ea. He couldn't give me a size or manufacturer, but I was curious is all.

Seems like the dogbone wrench has been around for some time. Here I thought is was a relatively new thing.
