Started building my backup/home set yesterday in anticipation of the job move next month:

Craftsman Industrial 82 Piece Socket Set -- I know it's only got partial socket coverage but with all three ratchets it's a good foundation to build upon.
IMAG0455.jpg

Craftsman Industrial 11 Piece Hex Key Socket Set -- I use these a lot and couldn't not have a second set.
IMAG0460.jpg

Craftsman 5 Piece Philips and Flathead screwdriver sets -- can't live without these:
IMAG0459.jpg

Craftsman Industrial 11 Piece SAE (3/8" up to 1") and Metric (10mm to 18mm) wrench sets (the 14 piece sets were still $80 at all 3 outlets I hit, these were $30 and $28 respectively and are FINE for my home use):

Those above will be a good start to a new home tool set. I tend to work on my cars a LOT (little things, tinkering and tweaking, all the way up to motor swaps, etc).

Below is stuff I didn't have for my new large shop job I'm starting next month. I didn't realize how much of an advantage it is to be in a shop with all it's own tools until now. Made me realize how much I was missing.

Craftsman Industrial SAE 7/16 through 1 1/16 Impact Sockets, short and deep:
IMAG0456.jpg

All in all I was in for the craftsman stuff for just at $175.....I can't complain about that. May go back for more sockets too.......

Also hit Harbor Freight yesterday for a couple of sales/coupon items:

US General Bearing Race and Seal Driver Set:
IMAG0461.jpg

Pittsburgh Double End Impact Socket Set (using one similar to these at the shop, very VERY handy to have IMO) and the Stepped Drill bit set which is a MAJOR win at $7. those stepped bits work like champs and I've put them through some tasks at the shop.
IMAG0462.jpg

And these......I've had them for about a week or so now, they were sort of an Early Christmas present for me. Two Craftsman Professional full 13 piece wrench sets, SAE and Metric. I've wanted these for a LONG time and finally pulled the trigger now that they're out of production. I know, shame on me for not having them organized in rails yes, but I've got to rearrange my box.

Well after procrastinating for weeks I bit the bullet and got the
14 pc Craftsman Industrial SAE Set (Made in the USA).... Orig $267 pick it up for $80 at Sears Outlet 70% off Sale. It arrived missing the 7/16", but I called and they said that they would sent me out one.

I liked these so much that I ordered the matching 14 pc Metric Wrench set too for $50 (org $169). The metric set was a pain in the *** to order. Every time I ordered it would get cancelled. I finally had to call Sears customer service for help. Seems their system always defaults to your local store for shipping and my Philly stores were already out-of-stock. I ended ordering from a store in Miami for local pickup. Then once I got the email confirmation that it was ready for pick-up, I called that store and the manager agreed to ship to me. They even waived the shipping cost.

Order some of the Ernst #6015 wrench rails to hold too.

I really need to stop going to estate sales. Seriously.

This week I picked up this:

20121208_165215.jpg

24 compartment metal tray box that was meant to be in a bolt bin, but loose in this case. new, never used. $15
Welding tank wrench $1
Tap Holder $1
2 Lazy Susan turntables $3 ea
2 24" aluminum bar clamps $15 ea
Craftsman router table $6
Roller work stand $10
10" Plywood blade (new) $10
10" Veneer blade (new) $10

Two other items in the picture of note. Thee's a Kennedy tool box there with key. It got painted by the US Air Force, and then someone sprayed Ford Blue all over the lovely US markings. A shame. I tried removing the new paint, but it took all the paint down to metal, so it's being repainted now. I'm not a stickler for perfect restoration, so simple black it will be and I'll use it for my hobby tools inside. ****** thing is heavy! $20

The other item is a 24" Record bolt cutter, Model 924. It's made in England and very very nice. The jaws aren't nicked or even show signs of use. I lopped off a 3/8" bolt without using much effort. I'm very impressed. Not bad for $15!

I went online and the Record bolt cutter appears to be something possibly a bit above the rest? The values listed are insane. $60-100 on the used market, $100-150 new? What's the deal?

I had my eye out for a Buffalo Forge No. 15 floor standing drill press for quite some time. I found this example at a local estate sale for $175. The paint is in fair condition; nothing more than light surface rust. It has a new single phase motor and a new belt. The column, table, and base cleaned up really nice. The table has minimal pitting and marks, which was a real plus. It came with the vice as an added bonus. I am debating whether or not to repaint it... I'd rather use it right away, but I do think about how nice it would look restored.

I also picked up a compatible Quadrill attachment, which should arrive any day now.

The on hand counts at the local stores are way out of whack, Norristown especially. When the C.I. first went 50% off, I ordered a few to pick up there, got the e-mail saying they didn't have 2. Walked in the next day to see both on the shelf...

S80 off of Craigslist...some people have a funny definition of new:lol_hitti

I wanted a 1/2" with the quick release, but this was priced fairly. Couldn't justify paying tool truck rate when this was half:willy_nilI need to become more active on our classifieds. You guys take great care of your tools and accurately describe them:thumbup: Got to clean it up though.

That's a Shame, I just traded in my SHR80 that was MINT, I would have gladly seen it off on here but I got a nice SHL80 now
The SHR80 just seemed too short for any time I needed 1/2" drive, guess I m a wimp. :lol_hitti

It's a bummer that some don't, it's a money maker IMO.
Generally my dealer only gets the minimum of 5 so it's good that I see him on Wednesday's when he usually only has 1 or 2 left... Lol

I guess there's still no USA stamp on the pliers? I told my dealer today there was some pliers I wanted but I won't buy until they say USA on them again. He tried telling me the pliers never said USA on them. :headscrat I have a few in my box that would say otherwise.

I would love to meet your dealers, I asked my dealer about this USA hype, he laughed, said man I have no clue what your talking about, he pulled out several ratchets and said see some of these are old and don't even say USA, he's been our dealer for going on 25 years, he's straight shooting all the time. His route is the same every week, when I mentioned this to him, he said no one on his route has ever mentioned anything about a USA stamp. He says when he leaves our place he gets a chuckle cause he says thanks to gj I know more about snap on then he does. He said his customer base don't care they buy from him cause they like dealing with him.

Furthermore I have a snapon ratchet flex head at home no USA stamp, bought ionised off eBay too, maybe that's why I got it so cheap, I could care less it still ratchets the same without that stamp. Hell the price should drop without it, less laser etching.
