I was walking through Princess Auto (Canuck Harbour Freight equivalent) and on the bottom shelf of an end aisle were 3 of these. I thought I had enough slip-joint pliers as they're not my go-to style, but for the price ($40!) I've got a lifetime supply. They're Model Numbers 424, 426, 440, and 460. Not sure what I'll do with the 460, as it's 16" long (2-handed sword?), but it's cool!

I've never bought tools in foam cut-outs either, and especially not for such a great price. Was this marketed to aircraft mechanics?

The big ones are great for popping end-links back together.

Yea my proto's are all old new stock. In the original boxes, that they were shipped out in. If the story I heard was correct (I do not know if it is) they were made to be sent for military use, but never got sent out. The guy said the yellow color was so they would not get lost out in the field. They were manufactured with the yellow though, there is not doubt about that.

Cleaning up my "new" Porter Ferguson hammer. Here it is right out of the box....

Picture167-2.jpg

Note this face is a bit on the pitted side...

Picture169-2.jpg

The handle was loose, and I did have some extras in the tool box, so we'll clean up the hammer faces first and then install the new hickory handle...

Picture170-2.jpg

I used the DA and foam interface pad on the faces to keep from sanding in flat spots. The interface pad helps to conform to the surface, as seen here.....

Picture080.jpg

Started with 320 grit and worked up to 3000 trizact

And with the new handle...

Cripe order that arrived today: Kobalt USA T15-T50, Gearwrench T47, Armstrong 12mm deep (3/8 drive), 18mm shallow and deep (3/8 drive), 32mm deep (1/2 drive). Filling in the gaps left by my Ingersoll Rand set.
Also, Snap-On Ratcheting screwdriver I got a little while ago.

Are ALL of the sockets new?? That's an awesome setup! What brands?
Every single socket except for the deep impact universals sticking up are brand new. Chromes are craftsmans 299 piece set and impacts are sunex. I always had very good luck with both brands and was tired of my mismatched sets.

I've been thinking about just getting CM 299 pc. socket set! I originally wanted their 540pc mechanics auto set, but I think it might be cheaper to get the 299 sockets and just get the other tools as I need them.

It is definitely worth the money. I've been watching the price for a while and it finally dipped down again so I jumped on it. Figured I'd at least get them while they were still USA made. Only Craftsman socket I've broken in the 11 years I had my old set was a chrome 19mm attached to the end of my MG725

yeah, get the 299, i got the 309pc set when it went to 199 then used a 10% off coupon, and i have to say its nice, but the only thing that i really kept were the sockets and ratcheting wrenches, the other stuff is filler, wish ni would have gotten the 299pc sockets set and then filled in my wrenches like i am now. killer deal when its like 300 bucks......dollar a socket, go find that somewhere else for brand new lifetime warranty
