Got back from the orange box today:

Yeah yeah, I know those jack stands are ****, but at $8 for the pair I couldn't resist. They are rated at 2 tons, whether that's per stand or for the pair I don't know. Still, who uses only one stand?

Funny story, I was over at Canadian Tire the other day and saw a curious situation: a Jeep was suspended on the passenger side by half of the 2-post hoist with half of its wheels off (the driver side wheels were still on and was supporting the entire weight of the Jeep on the ground). I'm pretty sure you are supposed to use both sides of the hoist?

The Husky adjustables (the ones with the steeper pitched worm gear so it adjusts twice as fast) were on clearance for $4, and the Ryobi lith-ion drivers were $7.50 a piece, couldn't resist! Going to probably gift those away.

I don't even look at the HH flyer because it's usually full of kitchen appliances, folding hammers and gimmick sockets. I'll have to hold my nose and look more often.

It's opened my eyes as well. They have channellock, wiss, dewalt, makita, hitachi, bosch and a few more american brands.

And the price really drops when they go on sale.

Got the new Knuckle Saver "2" wrenches from MAC

I must say has more weight to the wrenches and a more solid feel to them (compared the the previous series) and they work great!

And, its made in USA

How are the edges of the handle; are they more rounded or are they still square?

Those Knuckle Saver 2s sure look like Proto 500 series to me down the the wider beam. Good lookin wrenches:thumbup:

Thanks, Proto is a fine tool, I have Proto stuff and never had a problem. These wrenches feel great in the hand, has the MAC logo on both sides.

Cost me about $260 for the 10mm-19mm set which is less than the original Knuckle saver.

That's because that's exactly what they are except with MAC lettering. A change for the better for sure.

I was just there today and saw the 40% off. Too bad I found out I can get Knipex at cost now! :rocker:

Still trying to look for the Channellock adjustables without the 'Code Blue' grip, makes it look cheesy!

How the hell can you get knipex at cost?

That's a dangerous statement in a room full of tool junkies:evil:

Few crimpers I have picked up.

Couple die sets I plan on buying for the waytek crimp frame like Metri-pack and weather pack die sets.

Can't always crimp and reach areas with the waytek aka pressmaster one. The design of the Rennsteig one allows you to reach tighter spaces if need be. Plus I already had it, I bought the waytek one and decided to get the same dies for heat shrink terminals to see how they match up crimp wise.

Thinking about getting this one also

The dies are pretty pricey, lowest I've seen is $250. But with this one there is no need to solder the terminals after the crimp.

I'd be concerned about the wire sliding out of the terminal during a crimp at this point. :p

Expensive dies. Ouch.

What profiles are you after for this particular tool?

Well I have been working on a wiring harness for a LS1 swap. I used a truck harness that has terrible routing layout for the engine and trans, plus its a pretty short harness.

I had to extend and solder a lot of wires, used a good adhesive lined heat shrink for strain relief on the soldered connections. I would have like to just completely replace the wire and pin to the PCM so that there were no splices.

Almost done with this swap, so maybe on the next one I will purchase the crimp frame and some dies. Like Delphi Micro-Pack 100, Delphi Weather-Pack, Delphi GT 150 Male & Female etc.

The original engine bulkhead terminals on my cars use Metri-pack 630, 480 etc terminals. So another crimper or crimp die to perform those crimps.

I know I could just purchase the harness and be done with it, but I actually had fun doing the work. Plus I get to custom route the wires to my needs by doing it myself.
