I almost picked up another set of the Kreg vise-grips at Menard's today. I decided to try something else though, make my own.

I picked up a cheap set of Tool Shop for $7 and some washers. Since the Kreg brand are made in China (unlike their jig, USA) I figured I could try to make a set for less than 8 bucks. If I screw them up, I won't be out much.

This is the look that I'm going for, the washers will get welded onto the cheap pair and hopefully look like the Kregs.

let us know how it works out.

Nooooo that's too nice!! As soon as I got a snap on 8pc set...I set aside my older craftsman flats as designated mini pry bars

You mean there's another use for screwdrivers besides prying on things...? I call :bs: I have a box full of C-man screwdrivers just for that purpose too... This one goes back in the box and they come out when I start beating on my screwdriver with a hammer to make something move

Needed it and a staple gun to put up chicken wire to keep the goats out of the garden the wife is starting. The electric staple gun we already had just wasn't cutting it. Of course, it came from Harbor Freight, so I had to buy it, set it all the way up, break it in, return it because it broke, and repeat. Second one survived the project, though.

Cripe box showed up today. I was looking for the Gearratchet adapter to regular sockets. Also picked up a body hammer, 20 in clip tool and 72 tooth Kobalbrotohead. Funny thing it is very similar to my 1/4 snapon one.
The other day I picked up craftsman visegrips and1/4 shank screw driver for 5.00 at a resale store

Got these swivel impact sockets and air swivels in the mail and from UPS today. Impacts are made in Taiwan for Sunex so we'll see how they hold up under professional use haha. They seem to be pretty decent quality wise though. Probably gonna buy 3/8 set though soon too.

They will hold up just fine. Sunex makes excellent impacts, and as far as Taiwan made... No different from MAC or Matco's ADV line.

They were 75 dollar with free shipping. I know they're not no Matcos or Snap Ons, but I didn't think they were too bad for 75 dollars. Also says they are fully Guaranteed. They were too tempting not to buy and the Swivel impact thread got me thinking I needed to buy a set and at least try them. Haha.

Picked up this Milwaukee M18 1/2" drill today at a local farm store (they have a website but show backordered online). After sale price and in-store coupon for $67.98 + tax only one battery but still an awesome deal.

Don't use many metric tools, but it's nice to have them when you need them.
Pieced this set together from cripes - 8-22mm armstrong + KD + Allen USA for a little over 50 bucks! Can't beat that for brand new american made wrenches!

Also pieced this set together from Epstein's - 3/8-3/4 flex sockets wilde+bonney
Cost me right around 30 bucks

Also from Epstein's

And a cool Bell Systems/Thorsen box that holds my new Pratt-Read picks and Mayhew awl

I posted this in another thread but will post here also. Bought these with some money I got for Christmas. All made in the US and quality used tools. I always try to find quality used tools since I can't afford this stuff new since I'm just a shade tree mechanic and don't make money with my tools. I like diagnostic tools to help make up for my lack of experience so was happy to add these testers to my tool box!

Star TU-443 fuel pressure tester with tons of extra adapters. Threw out a 120 dollar shipped best offer on ebay and the seller accepted. Star oil and trans pressure tester. Schley honda crank socket. Lisle O2 sensor socket, it's the one that you use with an air hammer but it's missing the piece that goes from the air hammer to the socket I have. This came with the honda crank tool. Got that lot and the oil pressure tester for just over 55 shipped. Then two assenmacher cooling system pressure tester adapters. Really needed the Ford screw on one for a while now and found these both for 16 shipped. Really happy about that score.

What?!?! Half off?! Student discount?

It a special they have going on for a few weeks. 2 different BOGO items each week one on the power tool side one on the hand tool side. From what I understood he could only sell 5 at that price, you can put your name in ahead on the future weeks if you want and pay when it hits. He signs up 6 so if one backs out someone else gets one. And if he doesn't sell all five its first come first serve. Every four payments you make gets your name in a drawing for a speaker that looks like a micro box, a snap on special edition Traxxas quad rotor R/C helicopter, and a national drawing for 7,500 truck credit.

Armstrong long pattern SAE wrenches 5/16"-1". 105 shipped

DSCN2526_zpsbc26babb.jpg

I hardly ever use SAE but since they matched my 6-32mm metric set I had to grab them. I got the metric set for 200 shipped. Can't beat 305 shipped for such a complete set :)

New Bosch MX25 kit picked up on Amazon for $135. Used it to get up old tile last night loving it so far.

Does the bosch get hot when you use it for a while? I have a dremel that I bought right when dremel started making them and if I use it for a couple minutes it gets REALLY hot to the point where it almost burns your hands. Looks like dremels has a newer one out that is bigger and maybe more powerful then my older one. I have a feeling one day mine will die from overheating and will need a new one. The bosch looks pretty nice.

My Porter-Cable oscillating tool does get warm after a lot of use on the head. Most of the end is rubberized but there are still metal portions around where the motor fan is that can get you if not paying attention.

Not so far I was running it last night to get glue up while pulling old tile up. I ran it for 5-8 minutes at a time and it never got hot warm yes but not hot. I didn't have gloves on either. I had read that about the Porter Cable tools but not the Dremel brand.

Our SO guy showed us a pamphlet of different deals and we pointed out what deal we'd like to get and he signed us up right on the pamphlet. Cant remember what all the weeks were though .
