Matco guy came today, had 3 or 4 Armstrong 1/2" drive flex heads laying on the floor. I picked one up and asked what he was doing with them. He gives this disgusted look and says "you want that dang thing? 50 bucks its yours." Apparently he had made a mistake on an order and wound up with them. After he left I googled the price, P/N 12-994, over $100 on tool topia and amazon... I should have bought them all from him :/

Very cool Matt

Today is the day for deals on this ratchet, it is listed in the hot deals thread as well.

Ya it was, I ended up picking up the 3/8 version for $40 off ebay today. I already have a couple of 1/2"rs from CM, guess we'll see which ones I like better.

The 3/8 are metal, 1/2 are rubber

IDK man, I'm wondering if that's a recent thing on the 1/2" ones. I know I've used a whole bunch of PI 1/2" with the metal handles. I've got a Snap On labeled 1/2" PI TW in the mail on its way to me as well. I was actually surprised to see rubber handled ones on Tooltopia the other day. I had never seen them before.

Shop I was at had a snap on branded 1/2" with a cushioned handle 6 years ago. I've had my PI one for 2 years and it has a cushioned handle as well.

That's interesting. We had the non-cushioned grips just a year ago. I'm starting to wonder if the company I had worked for ordered in bulk and we were using up old stock. We were in Knightdale as a matter of fact.

Are they any good?

They are not bad I have a set but you need to watch the screw that holds the swivel ones together it likes to fall out if you don't keep it tight and I have had it fall into a cylinder and it wasn't fun to get out. Also they just have the rubber boots that get soaked in oil and don't hold spark plugs anymore I just got a set from Matco that use magnets that I like so far f276103737abf0b2ff3b12d0f744ddfd.jpg36c91fc30b2a0719cece8fd7ab2cbf23.jpgdd8245045d9959011f18d4bd5e94009b.jpg3b07d6ba8cdf065342ae6f8e3d0df796.jpg

Well, at least you didn't lose the screw - you knew right were it was. Losing it would have been worse!

Ok... some back story... I got a set of full polished stubby USA made Craftsman metric wrenches that skipped a few sizes.

I have OCD sooo. I always planned to fill the skipped sizes. I got a FREE SK 20mm a while back with their give away soooo. I still needed 19, 16, 11 mm. I noticed the 16mm was available from sears in the matching finish... pulled the trigger and it arrived after waiting 2 weeks for it's arrival. Leaving the 11 and 19mm

I also purchased the ernst 11 wrench stubby holder. The missing wrenches and holder arrived yesterday and i was quick to put them in my drawer.

Did I mention i have OCD.?. which caused me to get the missing sizes...

Now i have a different OCD issue... lefties and righties.

The KD wrenches are USA made and i got them for $5 each.

I won a Gedore Tools South Africa competition on Facebook last week. Collected my prize today and this is what I got.

Box says Made in SA and AFAIK it's all made here, but the pliers and cutters all say Made in Austria.

Wow I am very impressed with snap-on right now. I ordered the ratchet kit yesterday afternoon, and its here today before lunch. That kind of service really makes them worth the price to me

check the insides of the other 1/2" sockets if you didn't already. I had several stuck pretty tightly together in the last set I picked up.

Picked up a 9-piece set of the Craftsman branded angled socket wrenches. These angled specialty wrenches with through access feature a 12-point socket on one end with 6-point socket on the other end.

The SAE set pictured below consist of the following sizes: 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, 3/4.

Made in France by Boost for FACOM, Sears marketed these under the Craftsman name in both SAE and metric sets of 9.

Love the idea of these , and the sets look the muts nut, i jus dont see a use for them, where a socket and ratchet can be used, or spanner? Spose as they are pass through, if you were working with studding.
Still think they look cool though.

I can't believe how handy those things are. I have a diff brand but keep one in my pocket all the time. Mine has a flex head hex bit on one end... 1/4 ratchet flex on the other end.

Was it some type of military or government job? That might explain the different handles. I work right off New Bern Ave as you leave Knightdale and get into Raleigh.

Definitely handy. I had to use one a few months ago doing the fuel injectors on my buddy's f250 diesel due to space constraints. That was a pia job.

First v-cut wrench. Wasn't going to spring for a complete set, so picked one in a size I use regularly.

Nah, it was just a tire shop I worked at between semesters. I saw a few of them get broken and worn out. They were replaced within the week with brand new, in the box, non-rubber handles. Either they make two versions, or the company just has a freaking ton of NOS at a warehouse somewhere?

What is your opinion so far vs a standard wrench? I've never used a v-cut.
I don't think there is an advantage, other then looking better IMO. These particular wrenches feel really nice in hand, they have great weight and balance.
