My wallet starts burning every time I walk by the Proto section at the local tool store. Out of curiosity I asked the price on the 3/8" speed handle, ended up being on clearance for $15. The handle looks like jewelry - 5280G

The thread about how screw drivers smell like vomit from the composition of the old handles was on my mind when I was at Lowes for something else today. I actually have plenty of drivers but the old fashioned look of these were appealing and at $19.95 I figured what the hell. The handles are not the same in that they don't smell or have a weird feel on the tongue but they seem pretty well made and the lifetime warranty is a no brainer for an extra set.

Rear clearance arms

That one looks like it was for a CRV

Civic's used them too, but different size I think, 2001 and up

Not to sound like a smart *** but are u sure it doesn't just say crv on the socket for "chrome vanadium"?

Cat Angle Wrench 14 Piece Set. Bought second hand but unused. Had to use a couple of the larger sizes on some hydraulic fittings today, very happy with them.

I bought this Wright 4480 the other day.
I have an old P&C open head ratchet that is just worn out.
I didn't even know that Wright made them also.
Does anyone know if Wright is the only company still making the open head ratchets? I really like this style of ratchet, and I want to get a 1/4 inch also, but I don't think Wright makes one.

:D CR-V sure stands for the chrome vanadium not the brand of car it can be used for. seems like all my sockets are for crv's :LOL

Those are such sharp looking ratchets.

So I am a big railfan and a tool Hound and I bought this off a friend who got it at an auction. An 18 inch blue Conrail pipe wrench. Marked Japan and Super. I was offered 50 bucks for it after paying 20. I have never seen anything like it.

That is super cool, my dad would have loved that. I spent many hours watching conrail trains with him in the mid 90s

Picked up a used mac creeper, missing 3 casters, easily replaceable

Made a cover for the KRA58H box plus got the missing components, lockbar and lock

Modified my existing KRA5311 cover by adding 2 zippers to the front

Made a creeper hanger by using (2) J hooks, re-drilling new holes for them to be bolted to the existing handlebar slots

All said and done:

I had a few shipments from Amazon Prime this week. Those of you who follow me on Instagram, probably have seen a few pieces already. With 80+ more items purchased today, arriving next week (for a grand total of $220...) its going to a good tool week.

One part of the haul. The Angled Crimp Pliers, I just can't wait to use. More to add to my Tekton collection.
uploadfromtaptalk1430676903858.jpg

Last weekend, I found that I was absent a 1/4" deep socket set, in both SAE and Metric. Of course, being somewhat of a tool addict, I sought out to acquire a good set of 1/4" 6pt. and 12pt deep, in both SAE and Metric variations. (Yep, and a few other things that were on my Wish List..)
uploadfromtaptalk1430677004373.jpg

And before some of you hate on the Great Neck set, a good friend is a oilfield mechanic and had beaten the hell out of these sockets (for his own use) and they don't give up. For the price in contrast to Snap-On, Mac, etc.. I can't pass them up. Besides, the sockets have limited use application with me, so they'll be just fine.

Finally, I saw the 90° sockets on Instagram and nope, I couldn't help but grab a 3/8" & 1/4" drive pair. They are damn cool and for the price are a cool novelty in the tool box.

More to come this week!

I bought a M18 Fuel 3/8" impact and 5-inch random orbit sander to add to my Milwaukee collection.

IMG_1290.jpg

A 1/2-inch hammer drill from Sears that was on sale for $60:

IMG_1291.jpg

A 8oz ball pein hammer and 1 1/16 USA combination wrench that I picked up for $10 with points and a discount:

IMG_1298.jpg

And a set of wobble extensions from Harbor Freight. They are made in Taiwan and only cost $10, so why not?

I've used both in real world applications and I, and a few coworkers all agreed the Milwaukee has more power!

Plus I can't trust a guy who has to put on a glove to test torque of impacts!!

Indeed, 700ft lbs of the snap on vs 1100ft lbs of breakaway on the milwaukee... there is no comparison :dunno:

Though there rated at he same basically I'd have to go with the IR W7150 over the Milwaukee.. I use the iqv12 series and love them..in my opinion ir is geared more twards the automotive industry. But that's just my opinion

Beginning to upgrade my sockets from mastercraft from Canadian tire to ultra-pro from Napa. After a few years of pro use the laser etching has faded and I have a terrible time trying to see the sizes one I take a bunch of sockets with me to a job! They only have the laser etching and are not stamped. These ones are stamped and we get a really good discount through our company cash account. Got these for $35 regular $55. So far I've replaced my metric and standard 3/8 deep sockets (use deep the most) and I'll be replacing the 1/4 deep next.

I bought one of these nail pullers (technically a "molding bar") for the first time ever to pull the nails out of a bunch of fence boards so I can re-use the boards. I never have had one before. I've chewed up a lot of nice wood over the years trying to use a claw end of a hammer to do this.

It's the Stanley Fat Max 10". It's already nicely scuffed and has paid for itself already.

My new to me, 1978 Craftsman floor model drill press in excellent condition. Comes with a new angle vise, side table that rotates, and a mortise drilling clamp. Original owner was going to include the mortise chisels, but couldn't find them. He's also the original owner and bought the drill press on 3/5/78.

All for $100 ... screaming deal I think. Been waiting a long time for this kind of deal to show up. Just need a sand blast cabinet and I'm done looking for tools ... maybe
