This has already been covered but are they the same as the hf composite ratchets?

Not sure, I'd feel safe saying probably. If I end up buying another set for the home box, I'll get the HF's and compare them.

First official snap on purchase. Found a cool driver in my area and he ordered the wrench holder for me. I didn't intend on buying the metric hex drivers but he had a clearance price on them I couldn't pass up. Threw in the socks, too.

I guess I could call my new purchase a tool. You need pencils to get a job done. :dunno:

I keep trying to find some decent wood pencils that don't constantly break the lead. I have some carpenter pencils and they are fine some of the time but not to making smaller marks, atleast for me. I saw these at Menard's yesterday and started to look at them when I saw they came with a sharpener. Great another sharpener that doesn't work. Then I noticed it fits in an impact driver. . . . I gotta try these.

Verdict, I sharpened one yesterday, used it without breaking a lead or resharpening it. So far, I'm happy. Pencils are US but the yellow thingy is China.

I've been using those for a couple of years. I have been pleased with them. I have several of the sharpeners, and they have held up well.

Anyone know who makes the ball drivers? If Eklind does they don't have it listed on their website.

I suspected Eklind made them because the plastic holder looks just like what they use on their hex key sets. However, it is possible that Snap on makes their own. These do not have the typical 90 degree bend that most hex keys have.... I don't know the exact degree but it's not a true 90.

Stanley (PROTO) Compression testor:

Came with a blow-molded red case and 3 adaptors. The gauge itself has a glass face and is easy to read. The problem I have with most compression testers is the marking lines where the needle falls are hard to see. The Proto unit has a white face and is easy to read. Also, the long hose comes in handy to prop the gauge under a wiper when working solo.

It seems like at most stores they are discontinued. Retail on Amazon is over $200..

I picked this one up on eBay. The seller accepted my offer of $35. To think - I was going to pay more for a lesser quality one at Autozone!

This may be something that Snap On gets a patent for and no one else could have it. That would not limit them from having someone else make them. They are a lot longer than regular allen wrenches, and the angle along with the ball end makes them very versatile.

That picture would be soooo much better if the red was separated from it.
