Pretty much the top bench chisels on the market today, though a few Japanese brands would argue about that. Not made in the USA but they are made by a company in Canada owned by some good people.



Few other things. The thread detective and Milton fittings came through Amazon but everything else was purchased already marked down then with SYW points and B of A cash back applied to knock another 40 percent or so off.

I had a pair of long skinny needle nose pliers that I had gotten in an Allen set from Cripe years ago. Set was super cheap, something like $5, for 5 pair or something. Anyway, I could care less about the rest but I really loved these super skinny long needle nose for fine work. Grabbing small hose, electrical wire, releasing connectors etc.. they were the pocket screwdriver of pliers. The grip tore a bit and a well meaning co-worker took it upon himself to wrap the grips in electrical tape. Adhesive oozing, sticking to hand every time I touched them, finally decided to replace them. Naturally the sets are long gone from cripe so upgrade time.

A little smaller and shorter. New anvil design. Electronics moved into grip and set in potting compound.

In no particular order, got all this stuff in the last few weeks. Since all my good tools are at work I am rebuilding my collection at home. It doesn't all have to be SO, it just has to not be junk. Here goes:

- Osca hammers, made another thread here about them since I could not find much info
- SO deadblow from the truck, got a discount
- Bhondus hex keys with ball ends and Craftsman USA ignition wrenches (garbage finish compared to the overseas produced ones we get here in Canada)
- Axle nut socket set and cheap puller set on sale
- Very long impact extensions
- 3 extra long ratchets (the 1/2 one is 23" or so), just put some lithium grease in them today, also on sale
- A few Irwin clamps on sale, those come in handy

Question: has anyone ever used impact extensions that long? If so, how's the torque loss?

Where do you get pro point ratchets at never heard of that name.

He's in Canada, they have their own versions of generic tool names. In the US those ratchets can be found under EZ-Red.

Also, can you link the thread for the hammers, I cannot find it. I REALLY like the look of the brass one. Where are they made?

I've also seen a lot of Pro Point stuff under Pittsburgh (composite ratchets come to mind).

I needed a nice compact mini sledgehammer stumbled across this Nupla HD3SG 3 lb. 10" hand drilling hammer at Sears Hardware for $28.99. I have a Nupla dead blow rubber mallet at work with an identical handle and grip and I love how it feels in my hand. USA made with a lifetime warranty!

I bought that hammer on special at Sears years back, maybe $10 or so. I love it, and it is my go to hammer on a daily basis at work.

There is a bit more info in the thread above, I myself don't know much about them. I'm trying to dig up some info, but they are made in Italy and have a VERY high quality feel to them.

Also those impact extensions are from Pro-Point, a Pittsburgh equivalent.

Funny, I've had that hammer for a couple years, and its the only thing I have gotten a blister from in years. I don't even get blisters from roofing tear off anymore, but that nupla handle rips up the side of my hand. I went back to my Estwing driller and delegated the Nupla to my truck toolbox.

Kind of a bummer. That style handle is great when my hands are sweaty or covered in wheel bearing grease.

No, they're made from a new steel formula Lee Valley came up with and named PM-V11. Lee Valley owns the Veritas brand.

According to them, PM-V11 holds an edge much longer than A2 but sharpens as easy as A2. The reviews you can find online are very good. Aside from the new steel, the machining quality is really nice and the bevel goes all the way to the edge so they are great for dovetails as well as general purpose bench work.

I've got to get some diamond paste ordered so I can final hone them and put all that to the test for myself. My winter project is a new coffee table from some figured cherry I've had stashed for several years.

Some of my newest toys for work.
I love the ct761 3/8 impact, lots of torque from a compact gun.
The CTR761A ratchet is pretty awesome as well. I wish it had a little more torque, but the speed makes up for it.

The guys at trusty cook decided I was worthy and sent me a Buddy Blaster 52 for free!

It fits right in with the rest of my hammers. I was going to put it in with the rest of the soft faced dead blows, but I don't have any red hammers and I thought the red white and blue would look better!
