I'd return the kobalt locking pliers. I bought a set couple years ago. They where junk. Maybe for around the house use (not even in the garage) but that's about all there good for. Not sure if they improved them since then tho.

+1. bought 5 of them for the students to use at school(out of my own packet), paid $2.99/set few years ago. Too soft as tools, too light as paperweights.

not worth the blister pack they come with.

I got my SK Day order from HJE!

I'll post the same write-up here that I did over in the SK Day thread about the tools.

The breaker bar feels awesome and if my memory holds is thicker than the HF 25" breaker bar it is replacing. I might go out and measure them and see. In any case, I'm hoping this one will be a bit more rigid. I've had the HF start flexing on me just tightening down an axle nut.

The screwdrivers feel and look very nice, but they are much lighter than I expected. I was surprised at the weight given how big they are. They don't feel unbalanced though which is nice, and the two large flat head drivers have the hex bolster for turning with a wrench.

Got my order in today! 3/4 XXL breaker bar, 3/8 XXL breaker bar, 1"-1 1/8" line wrench, and 3/8, 1/2 drive metric hex socket set. Got the sweet tshirt, awesome beanie, just in time for cold weather, and the power bank. I'm pretty pumped about that 3/4" breaker bar!

Posted it to the SK Day thread too

SEMA snags

I've been wanting a set of these for a while. Got all three including the impact rated 3/8" for a buck ten.

These looked like they might come in handy, specially in a engine bay where there's no room to swing a hammer. And after playing around with them, seem to be really good quality.

Now for these. At first I honestly thought they were a gimmick tool and who knows they just might be. But they appear to be manufactured from good quality steel and they sure as hell tighten up as advertised. BUT I haven't tried them out in the real world just yet. But considering I got them for 60% list, no complaints.

Thank you I thought I had all the sk breaker bars. Now they start producing more useful bars.

Added this to my collection today. 10" Pliers wrench.

$12 out of pocket makes it even better.

I got a couple new to me -definitely not new:bounce:- wood planes. The larger one on the right is a Keen Kutter, and the one on the left has no discernible markings. Those markings should show up after a bath in evaporust. Thanks to Karl_B! He sent them for the cost of shipping.

Maybe it's bad form to reply to your own post. I don't care. Cleaned up and almost ready to make some shavings. All they lack is sharpening the irons. The only marking I found on the number 3 was the Shapleigh's logo on the iron. As best I can tell, that was a hardware store chain in the midwest that went out of business in 1949. The next plane up to be returned to service is a Stanley Bailey #5C.

Seems like a good idea but a quality socket or flare wrench, first off, wouldn't damage fasteners like that, and second said quality flare/socket would probably remove a lot of what they showed also.

Still im intrigued for when Joe Fixit destroys a flare with his cheap open end wrench. Anyone know COO? (hoping Taiwan)

I was pretty excited about ordering these. Got one for myself and a couple extras for stocking stuffers. This is the first thing I've ordered from Channellock that I was disappointed with. The rubber grip is incredibly slick and there is a lot of slop in the jaw. I'm also not sure what to think about how far out the dynamic jaw sticks out of the wrench. I see that it's necessary for the wide jaw design but am afraid it will end up damaged if I close the jaw more than 3/4" and drop the wrench on that side or something. Oh well. Hopefully it never becomes an issue.

Don't worry about the jaw slop, I haven't slipped off a fastener yet and I regularly use it with a cheater pipe or a sledge.

Did you remove the rubber grips or did yours not come with them? Wondering what is under mine because I'm afraid they're too slick to stay. Will try cleaning them first to see if that helps.

If you remove the comfort grip, its just the regular wrench underneath too. Nice design from that point of view. Its not altered in order for the grip to fit.

I took a knife to it.

There's no way that grip will ever slip off the handle.

You will be pleasantly surprised by that iron. I use it as my bench iron. I have been using it for about 3 years. Replaced tips and it's like new. Not sure who makes it for Sears but it is certainly a quality product. Same with their guns. I have the heavy duty one and the pro . I can solDer 0awg with the pro version if I wanted.

Got my enco order. So as much as it pains me every time I need to restock my abrasive ****, the belt grinder was long over do. And with two projects to get done in short order over the next couple months, it was a necessary evil.

So out with the old

4C224923-5B82-40F5-8324-31EA9F9ED533_zps8hosuzaq.jpg

and in with the new

F1C1EB80-B5BC-4174-A7D7-FC1DC13F7471_zpssybzfmwu.jpg

PLUS a new set of Bondus. My old set has lasted several years, I have no doubt these will as well. I also finally got me a 5C indexer, been wanting one for a while and actually need it right now.
