I was planning to use it on my Tekton 1/2" dr. long-handle ratchet (15013). Recommended?

Hopefully someone on here can chime in that owns and lubes that ratchet but it's a fairly fine tooth ratchet so I'd tend towards a lighter lube than a thicker one. I think once you get into the higher tooth counts going with too thick of a lube will cause it to skip. I don't think SL is that thick or at least as thick as RLL so it'd probably be ok. I think the general idea is higher tooth counts, thinner lube. Lower tooth counts, thicker lube. I also know that Wright ratchets are marked oil only on them and people usually use something like 3-in-1 or sewing machine oil on those.

You can always just try it, see if you like the action. If you don't clean it out and lube it with something else. I don't think you're at risk of doing permanent damage to it, but if you go too thick the pawls won't be able to engage with the teeth of the ratchet well enough and you'll get the skips.

Got this in last week and got to use it on my cousins Lexus IS250 oil change. It's a toyota canister style oil filter "wrench" / cup. Not your tradition oil filter cup/tool.

Made in the U.S.A. by ASR.

Just an FYI, if you use that on the plastic filter end caps, it will eventually crack them at the ear tabs it attaches too. I had that tool and following the proper torque specs, it eventually cracked both my Tundra and FJ cruiser plastic filter end caps after 3-4 changes.

What is the alternative/recommendation?

I have the same tool, haven't had any issues on the wives RAV4 w/plastic cap. I don't know what the recommended tq spec is for it, but I just snug it down once it bottoms out.

Mine would not (they are torqued to 70 ft/lb) but I had to use a 3/8 - 1/2 adapter to get my wheel lug nut size so I'm sure that killed the torque.

New ratchets. They are Posi-Grip 0° gearless ratchets. Never tried one before, but father-in-law decided I needed a set, so I couldn't say no to free tools. Had to piece the set together from 3 stores, but got a decent enough deal.

Where did you find the Posi-Grip gearless ratchets in a store? Which store please! I've been trying to find these ratchets. Thanks.

Will it take off your lug nuts???!?!

Mine would not (they are torqued to 70 ft/lb) but I had to use a 3/8 - 1/2 adapter to get my wheel lug nut size so I'm sure that killed the torque.

I'm planning on doing a video on it. I want to see what the limit is for lug nuts on it. I think it should be able to do mine no problem as long as it meets it's rated torque spec. I'm planning to just torque a bunch at slightly higher torques and keep taking them off until it can't and then back down and verify that it can repeat the previous torque and that should give us a pseudo-scientific idea on the torque on it. It's no skidmore wilhelm but it should still be fun. Hopefully I can get to that this weekend. I get to skip a princess birthday party so that seems like prime timing for it! :rocker:

Picked this up today at Home Depot for $24 including the battery and charger. They had 4 or 5 of these left over from Black Friday special buys. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1453421114.999298.jpg

My purchase off the truck today

Those are the Snap on wrench rails up top

I have the same set of picks. Years of daily use and they're still straight and sharp. The long ones are a godsend for radiator clamps and such in tight spots.

Picked up a Ribe bit set from Mac. $106 CA, happy with the price for a kit that I won't use often. I like that the adapters supplied are 3/8" as well as 1/2". Sometimes clearance is tight with a half inch body.

Thanks for the heads up man, I was thinking about that when I bought it, but figured if the end cap was to break, I'd just buy the metal one. I really only would use it for my tundra and my IS250, which already has a metal end cap

Thought I'd join in on the fun here. Picked up the snap on speaker off craigslist last week. Got the saw today at home Depot for a really good price.

For me, Volkswagen. Have a 2001 Jetta gas in the shop, and the head bolts are M10. Which leads me to assume they are more of a European thing, as I hadn't seen them (yet) on North American. We don't see a lot of imports where I work, but see enough to justify buying em'.
