Craigslist find of the day. Snap-on 1/4" electric ratchet, polisher prep tool and 2 batteries with charger.

The Prep tool is very cool with 2 speeds 0-3500 rpm and 0-15000 rpm with a nice variable speed trigger.

I drug this Bostitch N88RH home from work last week...saw it in one of our shipping managers' cubes to be thrown away. I figured it was leaking air so I preemptively ordered a trigger valve and O-ring kit. There are some other little bits it needs, like a new exhaust cover, trip cover, and I want to convert it from contact to sequential trip, but it's otherwise complete. I'd like to paint it but am not sure how to deal with the magnesium, plus the handle's molded onto the main body.

Swapped the 3/8" to a 1/4" quick connect and tried it out this morning, seems to work fine, just a little leakage around the trigger valve.

I have a new Bosch framing nailer, which I think I'll sell and keep the Bostitch to go with the N60FN (also drug out from trash and rebuilt) and SB125BN. Luckily the Bosch is also a 21 deg so the nails I already have will work...plus it seems to be going for ~$100 more than what I paid for it so it's a win/win!

I have the 54" and the 48" crown top bars, I like the handle on those a lot (I have not used the 48"), I am not sure about the 30" version. I have the 42" old handle in striking, not sure if it was made non striking cap (if so I want!), then I have 36" and down in regular handles in bot striking and non striking. I figure I will probably buy some of the new style and see what I think. I know I would also like the chisel, I think the handle is nice for that.

This shows the two handles side by side:

This shows gratuitous green:

Hope you have better luck with that ultrasonic cleaner than me. I've had no success cleaning anything with mine. It buzzes and heats up but... doesn't seem to really do anything more than just soaking tools would anyhow. I hope I'm just using it wrong in some way and some day I'll figure it out and be able to get good use out of it.

Got a Visa giftcard that was only good at certain retailers, sears being one of them, so I went there.

I got a punch/chisel set, rubber mallet, some soft grip pliers covers, torx screwdriver, and two sockets out of a 'clearance bucket' that was full of old stock US sockets. All stuff was US made in this purchase.

If you didn't notice in the pictures, my 12 piece punch set is missing a piece, I didn't notice until after taking the pictures, so I went back today and exchanged it.

IMG_0234.jpg

One of the sockets in the bucket was this weird 1/2 drive, 9mm 12 point socket. I got it just for laughs. It didn't have the tag on it, so the cashier tried to get a price by part number lookup, and couldn't find it in their system.

The first time I used mine for a carb I had so-so results. I was using la's totally awesome cleaner. Turns out I didn't use enough cleaner. The next time I added a lot more cleaner and it worked great. You also have to run multiple cycles.

Does Snap on still sell the old style of pry bars or do all the pry bars they sell have the new handle on them?

I think you can still get them, but it seems like they are going to change them over. I guess they are much less prone to breaking the plastic handles.

Nepros 90 tooth 3/8" flex long. Saw the release PDF for this a year ago and wanted one then, had to wait a long time but finally got my hands on one thanks to Frank.

Nepros.net basically never gets updated. These aren't on their site. Frank is also cheaper with his promos and hes great to deal with.

When I talked to my dealer about them last week he said it all depends on if there is any old style left in stock. Once the old stock is gone they will all be the new handles.

I had troubles the first time as well. So I started using straight simple green and use a hand held torch to preheat the cleaner. I've found about the third time through a full cycle when the cleaner is hot enough you won't be picking a part out with your bare hands it does a great job. It's definitely one of those tools you learn to work within its limitations.

Where did you find the Posi-Grip gearless ratchets in a store? Which store please! I've been trying to find these ratchets. Thanks.

I found them at Hedahls Auto Parts. Don't know where are are located, but they are just around the ND, SD, MN, MT area.

http://www.hedahls.com/

I was digging around in some stuff on a shelf and happened upon them. Don't think they peddle them anymore.

I've tried contacting the manufacturer, Albertson Enterprises, to purchase rebuild kits to have, but can't make any contact.

Just tried the website, but says it's down. Could be temporarily, but I'm expecting permanently.

Good luck

I got the 6" version of that dewalt from amazon dw756. Let me know how that 8" works for ya. One shroud on mine was dented in had to bang it back out and the whole thing vibrates a lot. I have it on a grizzly grinder stand similar to the one you have. I gotta keep a foot on it or it will walk away.

I have had the Dewalt 6" grinder for 12 years and wanted to add another for the other side of the garage so I decided on the 8" model. The stand was the cheapest available (WEN model) on Amazon. Runs nice and true with little vibration.

I have that exact 3/8 ratchet and love it!
Mine is the 1/4" drive, always wanted to try a Proto ratchet and I use 1/4 drive the most working on motorcycles.

I've been lurking here for a while and finally decided to register. All of these have been purchased in the last 6 months (PB Swiss from Count on Tools BF sale - burned myself though having it shipped via UPS:mad:):

More stuff, mostly via Amazon.
The Anex bit set is just ok. It's good for tight spaces as the bits are only 19mm I think. Otherwise I'd say quality and finish is probably below average for the price. I may look at Felo's sets, or does anyone know if Koken makes a bit/socket set?
The Engineer wire strippers are fantastic. Seems silly to order strippers from Japan but these are perfect in every respect: light, comfortable handles, super sharp, very precise, locking mechanism, light spring (lighter than typical strippers) therefore easier on the hands.
The Bahco adjustable is nice, as is the Top and mini from Engineer. I like that there isn't a lot of slop/backlash in them. I ordered the thin jaws of each because I am always dealing with jam nuts on sensors and cable connectors.
The Knipex stuff speaks for itself. The 200mm cable shears are incredible and cut a given cable easier than my larger Kleins. And EVERYONE should have at least 1 pliers wrench.

Continuing, I recently had to make an emergency purchase of a wire ferrule crimper as my old knock-off finally crapped out. The Weidmuller Roto6 is SO much nicer (with a price to match!). Way smoother and easier on the hands, especially when crimping AWG10. The cheaper knock-offs are fine but having the real thing, to me, justifies the difference in spending the extra dollars. I think my hands will thank me for that in the long run.
I bought the Wera insulated blade set in the summer and have mixed feelings about it. It's very light and great quality and gives me more driver options in my bag while saving space - I'm still not quite comfortable with having to change out blades all the time. My preference is to have individual drivers - maybe need a Veto bag to make that work though!
I've managed to squeeze in a Vessel Prokon set into my Wera roll as well. Vessel is very nice - magnetic blades, JIS cross/Philips heads are great even on regular Phillips head fasteners. Definitely going to purchase more Vessel, probably Megadora series JIS drivers. :
