Huot Drill Stand Dispenser #1-60 (Made in the USA).

This was handed down to me from my Dad today. It belonged to my Grandfather. It's got to be 40-50 years old.

Took advantage of an ebay bucks multiplier and CPO discounts.

M7 Mini (super shallow) 1/2" Impacts. Etched markings are terrible! Im not sure they could of chose a smaller font but that tiny script under the M7 logo is the size. I'll be using these a lot all the same. Been quite a few situations where I could of used the clearance. Length wise they're all about 25mm which is quite a bit shorter than your standard shallow impact. Cheap too. After the kickback they'll only run about $50.

And I generally prefer preformed OE lines wherever I can get them since its such a time saver but not always possible as things get discontinued so I finally broke down and bought my own.

Hi, my name is Dan and I am addicted to tools.
Isn't that how we are suppose to introduce ourselves at meetings like this?

Like most of you, I like wandering through big box stores and local hardware stores looking for deals and unique finds.

I do have a few questions though. Is there that much of a difference between Husky/Kobalt/Craftsman/Pittsburg and Snap-On, MAC, SK, MatCo tools for a garage mechanic? And by garage, I mean one attached to a house, not one attached to a dealership.

Next question, for those with aging eyes like mine, do you mark your tools to make the sizing easier to read and if so, what to you use?

Finally, is having 4 sets of SAE of combination wrench sets a bad thing or should I go for 5?

Thanks, Dan

Welcome aboard. Sit back and open your wallet because this site will fuel your tool addiction.

Use a paint pen and color/trace the etchings .. might make them easier to see.

Love that flare kit.

Not new but couldn't pass up at 100.00 bucks.
Work great. Just needs new batteries but can be used plugged in.

I already had a larger battery charger with all the electronic bells and whistles but I needed something light and simple as a power source to test generators and field coils for my 1931 Model A. I can use this for other simple jobs too. I found this at a local pawn shop for just shy of $24 after tax. I didn't get a crazy deal but its made in the USA and probably better than the Chinese HF equivalent. I also needed a puller for pulling bearings off of generator armatures. I looked at HF and was going to buy a 3 piece set but they had two SKU's - one had two star reviews and the other was 4 star. They couldn't find the better SKU puller set so I went to the nearby Sears and found a 2 jaw that would work for about the same price as the 3 piece set, but this one is made in the USA. Apparently there are a few USA tools left hiding in the corners? Anyway I brought this one home and it pulled the bearing with ease and is probably much more quality than the Chinese HF puller.

For once I didn't find a tool on GJ. Stumbled across this browsing Klein's catalog. I also have a fondness for strike-able hand tools.

650DD Demolition Scratch Awl, with full length tang and striking cap. This is slightly heavier than Klein's normal scratch awl.

Picked up a couple of nice deals. OTC Valve Spring compressor from AWD($45), Valve Lapping tools, and the Prybar sets from Home Depot ($13ea).

One bar set is for myself and the second was for my girlfriend's father. Since we use his lifts often, I try to double up on any good tool deals I find and pass them along to him. However, she's decided they would make a good upgrade to the one's in her tool box and has decided to claim the second set, :lol_hitti

Soldered a new set of jumper cables out of 20' of 2000 volt 2/0 AWG loco wire. My 20 year old set of copper were worn out. These are much lighter and should hold up a for a little bit.

Bought these because of the 1/4" drive and stubby length, should be easier to get into tighter access areas on motorcycles specifically.

The Mayhew Select models are not made in the USA and are from Taiwan. Not mad about that just a observation, those I got because of the non-ball end which is a + for me.
The Bondhus set are stubbys with long pattern design.

I think so, though I don't follow that thread carefully. I noticed a half dozen of them a couple weeks ago at around $35-40. Stopped in for a couple things today and saw they had two left tagged the $13 price.

Those wrenches look great Moose.

Thanks! :)

Yep. That idea is getting copied.:D

They're really easy to make. I used Key Clamp tube (For handrails and stuff) and it has a nice thick wall. This is 27mm OD and 20mm ID, the wrenches are Gedore DIN 894 single open ends.

I flattened the pipe end a bit in the press, between two press plates, then pressed the wrenches into the tube. After that i "crimped" the middle of it down using a piece of bar stock. Now they just need some slots cut and welded up, and the end near the wrench opening welding up.

:)

I have this same ratchet except it's a fv71m. Does anybody know that the "m" means? From what I've seen from my research it signifies a military use ratchet. But I couldn't find a very reliable source so I'm not positive if that's what the "m" means, any info would be very appreciated!
