I really prefer the grips of the Merry over the KTC. The KTC version has a slightly longer reach.

Looks really handy. Is there a model number for these as I can't seem to find any info on them.

Here is what has come into the shop in the last couple of weeks. Thanks to you folks here,my tool addiction has kicked back into high gear again.I am now trying to replace all the Snap On stuff I have lost over the yrs, picking up some vintage SO stuff and getting some things warranted from Snap On that have been sitting in the tool graveyard for yrs.First is a couple of screwdrivers that came from God Knows Where that were trashed.First was an SSD4 screwdriver that got crushed when a car rolled over it

From all the chatter here on Garage Journal about Warrantying tools from Snap On,I have learned that you can deal direct with Snap On via Email, which is great since I have not dealt with a local dealer for over 10rs,having left the automotive biz to become an Operating Engineer.I got ahold of Snap On warranty dept via Email and sent them pics of my defunct screwdrivers. They sent a prompt reply saying they needed a little more info to process my claim, like my address etc.The next day they sent another Email saying my claim was approved, and that they would be shipping me 2 new screwdrivers and to hang on to the old ones till they got there, and that I did NOT need to send the old screwdrivers back to them.I was stunned!I guess all the $$ spent was not just for bragging rights for having Snap On tools.

After a week or so,I got a package from Snap On,and like a kid on Christmas I opened the box, expecting a couple of Black Handled screwdrivers, only to find that SO had sent me 2 of their new models

Now I was really stunned!Instead of the plain old Black Handled screwdrivers,I got 2 new fancy 2 tone comfort grip screwdrivers..After a while it hit me like a bolt of Lightning.None Of My Other Screwdrivers Match!Snap On was O So Crafty! Now I am gonna have to get the rest of the set if I want them all to match!Oh well! What am gonna do with all my old Black Handled screwdrivers now?

Who knows?
Use them until they break.

The black hard handles were phased out quite a while back and the style you warrantied are even older.

I don't think you have the comfort grip drivers though. From the picture, the dark portion appears to be a grayish color. The soft grips have black instead of gray and are softer still. Looks like Snap On replaced your hard handles with the modern equivalent.

I'm kinda surprised they replaced them. They've cracked down quite a bit on warranty claims lacking a receipt. Did you buy them originally?

Along with the screwdrivers,I received a Snap On FV71 3/8 ratchet I got from a guy from Facebook,a 13mm 3/8" 6 point socket and a OEXM13mm wrench I snagged at a bargain price from Flea Bay.

After looking at the current offerings I now realize these are not the Comfort Grip models, but to me they feel like a big improvement over the old models.I have been out of the automotive biz for over 10 yrs now so I haven`t really paid any attention to what Snap On was selling now.
In the past,I never had any problems with warranty issues from the local dealer, which were few.I was wondering what their take was going to be on the screwdriver with the broken tip,but Snap On made good on the warranty.
Back in the day,I bought a good deal of stuff from Snap On and Mac,but never thought to save the receipts, since I got away from carrying an account, and just paid cash for the odds and ends I needed.

Snagged these Snap-on 1/4" drive metric shallow and deep sets from eBay for $85 shipped total. Clearly used, but no peeling/flaking chrome or functional issues, and will be a huge upgrade to my Craftsman set.

$6.25 for the 3/8 universal new in bag from ebay and $6.59 for both offset screwdrivers. Screwdrivers are used but show hardly any signs of use.

Grabbed a nice 1/4" roto ratchet from harbor freight today to keep in the car. I think I may like the feel of it better than my snap on tf72;(

You think so? I have the 3/8 and I'm not impressed. My 1/4 rotohead is a Napa Carlyle and that one is fantastic.

I saw my Mac guy today. This was one of the first things I have bought from the monthly sales flyer in a while. Buy one get one free.

I saw this the other day on this thread and decided I needed one!

 Those were a "catalog exclusive" back in the day so you're not going to find those at a Sears store. SK has a nearly identical version, also made by Western Forge, but of course with SK green handles. Good luck finding a pair of those as well. They were touted by SK as "new for 2016" and SK claims that they are available but no one knows where.

How do you like those SK ling nose pliers? They are in my tool topia cart right now and am debating whether to get them or not.

You mean how do I like those Western Forge long nose pliers? Well I wish they had red/black handles but other than that fit/finish/functionality are top notch, no complaints. I'd say worth the money.

"Richpa" and "crbnfbr",

The Tool Network marks up these pliers so much ($89.95)! :shocking:

You can special order the KTC AD101 electrical disconnect pliers from frankstools.com for $49.75 plus $6.80 USPS shipping. The KTC AD101 pliers are not on his website. I paid this amount a few days ago via Paypal.

If you would like one, please send him an e-mail at "[email protected]" for an updated quote. It will take 2 to 3 days for the pliers to arrive from his distributor to Frank. Then, he will mail them out to you.

Do you have the part numbers for the SK set and the Craftsman pliers? Those are such a tease:willy_nil

I had a very similar experience with Snap On. I had a Blue Point polyurethane dead blow hammer that I bought off a truck in the '80's that had just disintegrated with age and use. I called Snap On and they told me they had a lifetime warranty on it and sent me a new equivalent Snap On hammer and they didn't want the old one.

New Toptul T-handle universal extensions from GJ-er DNSchmidt. He sent them superfast and the price was amazing given the quality. The satin chrome finish on these is impressive. From now on any tools I buy new are going to be Toptul.

Went to Lowe's yesterday while working, was browsing their hand tools and remembered the Irwin - labeled NWS pliers. The store I went to had a large selection, side cutters needle nose linesman pistol grip needle nose with lock. And, they were all on sale except the pistol grip needlenose.

Of course, didn't have my wallet...so after work, hit up my local store. They only had the Powerslot side cutters, but they were on sale also, so I picked up a pair. I'm gonna go back to the other store after payday to get the pistol grip needle nose.

Hello Everyone, I recently scored a 3-in-1 Smithy Lathe,Mill, Dill combo with lots of tooling. Somehow I had never even operated a metal lathe or a mill until I purchased this one. I had always wanted and got a pretty good deal on this set-up. I know alot of guys will say that this is junk or not accurate and they me be correct about it not being super accurate but it will do everything I need for now without question. I still haven't had much time to play with it, but I have turned a couple small parts for my race quad.

"New" old tool.
Recently inherited from my dad on a garage clean out and his tool knowledge was non existent, this may sound stupid to some, but I have not seen another.
From my point of view it looks like a type of graduating/step punch similar to a bearing punch.
Appreciate the help on this one.
