Here are the new tool arrivals from the last couple weeks:

Mac Tools Oxygen Sensor Wrench (Made in Taiwan)

This Mac 22mm oxygen sensor socket (about $45) is the newest version of the older SP Tools model# 88750 due to using spline drive technology on the 6 point top and 12 point bottom sides: SP Tools.

Kromhard Twist Drill Company, Akron, OH

This is a local industrial tool supply company. Below, I purchased a number of new, old stock tools at good to great prices.

Bondhus Ball-End Torx Hex Key Wrenches (Made in the U.S.)

Each one was priced between $3 to $5 for the sizes T-9 thru T-55. There were enough in stock to piece together a few more complete sets. With a little haggling, the owner charged me for the complete set $40.

Lisle Aluminum Vise Jaw Pads (Made in the U.S.)

I own the Craftsman red rubber jaw pad set (with the magnets on the back). I always wanted jaw pads a little more resistant to heat and pressure. These fit the bill. However, the magnetic strip used by Lisle is weak. I modified the underside of each jaw pad by installing 3 rare magnets and adhering them with this JB Weld plastic epoxy: LINK. This JB Weld epoxy can be purchased at Ace Hardware.

Miscellaneous Items

Lakeshore Tool & Equipment, Lorain, OH

Mayhew Metric Twisted Hex Key Set (Model# 45053); (Made in Taiwan)

This local industrial tool supply store sold me this set for $21.95. It was cheaper than Amazon: LINK. One of the Amazon reviewers claimed that the smaller Mayhew metric hex sizes (ex: 2, 3mm) have better bend/break resistance than the higher quality hex key brands. I hope to test this out real soon!

Lowe's

LENOX 13-Piece Bi-Metal Hole Saw Kit (Model# 1786647); (Made in the U.S. with Global Components)

This hole saw kit (item# 348755) is on sale (labeled a "special value" in the sales ad) until 7/6/16 for $69.98. I ordered it online and used the $10 off $50 promotion code generated by the website "Renovopower": LINK. The code generated worked the first time. I paid for the set (with tax) $63.88. This is a huge savings over Amazon: LINK.

Olfa Art Knife (Model# AK-1); (Made in Japan)

I was surprised to see several Olfa knive models at Lowe's. I've seen Home Depot clearance Olfa last year. I used this knife to remove the thin rubber that was covering the 2 magnets on the back of a Craftsman rubber vise pad. It removed the rubber very easily and now the vise pad adheres slightly better to the jaw surface. One thing I noticed is that the collar needs to be tightened very well or the knife blade doesn't stay perpendicular to the work piece during use.

Order from HJE and toolsdelivered.com. A lot of small odds and ends that I would normally just use the company provided tools, but I prefer having my own. The main item I wanted is the Williams 12pt socket set, very impressed with them now that I've compared them side by side to others at work.

The bahco I bought were equally impressive, especially for the price.

Estwing ball peins...for free! I ordered a 5 piece set. 2 were back ordered so they sent the 3 they had. They packaged them so poorly that they got pretty scratched up in transit bouncing off eachother. I asked if I could send them back for an exchange, and they just refunded my order, told me to keep the 3 for my inconvenience, and that was that. The 2 I never got were the 8 and 12 oz. I probably don't need them anyways...

Lucked into a warm deal at my favorite pawn shop today. I had been wanting a Porter Cable sheet or random orbit sander. Also, I needed a staple gun, because mine disappeared years ago. I got both, a PC333 and an Arrow T-50, along with some (5) medium duty pulleys I wanted for $20.[

I'm pretty pleased.

I've got 2 of those USA PC 333 sanders... can't beat em. Lowes still carries the replacement pads.

Was going to get the new ptr72 but he talked me into the far7200 for the same price.

I traded my far7200 in last year for the battery ratchet and I've missed it since. Do you think they are coming down in price and have you tried a ptr72?

The far7200 was discontinued. The ptr72 is its replacement and was made to bring the price point down to be more competitive. My dealer still had a few far as nos on his truck with a sale price matching the new ptr. I havent gotten to use my new one yet but the specs are about the same on both. He wasn't ready to say that the new ptr was as good as the far yet, haven't been out long enough.

10-4 I'll ask my driver when he comes Tuesday morning. Since the ptr price is over a hundred dollars lower..if I can get the tried and proven 7200 or even far72 for the same price I'll take it.

I would totally buy those green tools if they had a green charger. It just looks wrong. If I am forced to have red chargers then I am going to stay with my milwaukee tools.

Yes totally... Green chargers should have been in the boxes... They cheaped out big time...

:lol_hitti I know that's an issue! I just put all 3 chargers inside the power tool drawer and don't look at them since they aren't the part that actually gets used to do the work. ...I am kinda miffed that the reciprocating saw is supposedly only available in red.....

Yep at one point they didn't even have the green bag.

I needed the VT30 to save $70 at the dealership every six months when I swap out my winter/summer rims on my car. With the tool it took all of five minutes to reprogram the car with the new IDs.

The Gearwrench Kits were $105 total and were needed to replace crapola roadside socket sets I have in my cars.

Where'd you snag the sets for 105 total?

It was part of a Gearwrench Promo Set (KDT-80550F) from Coastal Tool Supply where you bought the 3/8 set and got the 1/4 set for free.

I noticed that your 1/4 set comes with a 120 tooth ratchet, but the 3/8 set comes with 84 tooth ratchets. Just wondering, is there a reason you went with different internal ratchet designs for the two drive sizes?

I have 84T ratchets from Armstrong and Gearwrench already so I would not have gone for the 120XP but it was free and is actually quite nice.

The 120XP ratchet is now an oddball in my group. I personally like my 84/88T ratchets a lot and think 120T is a bit of overkill and a marketing gimmick.

I should add that they screwed up my order and "forgot" to send half of the order that the socket sets were a part of. I emailed them and magically I had another tracking number for the missing tools.

I have only ordered from them twice. The first order was quick and painless but the way they handled the second order seemed shady to me. They have so many store fronts too (NXT, Etoolpros, Coastal Tool Supply, Etc) that you have to wonder why?

I got my orders both times but my sample size is way too small to recommend them with certainty. Maybe I am just spoiled from buying stuff on Amazon with no hassles...

I had $12.00 in free surprise points that were going to expire yesterday so I picked this up last night:

The register wasn't accepting my points even though it showed them as valid :dunno: I ended up buying it on my phone and carrying it up to the register. The whole process was annoying, but it ended up costing me $5.07 out the door so I can't complain too much.

I hope this will be nicer than using a blanket or towel. I've never had a fender cover before.
