not new "tool" arrivals but a new arrival none the less. ive been wanting to get into electronics for a while. so this is my excuse to start. a generous donation from work
also donated an oscilloscope but its still at work and no pics.

I really wish oscilloscopes weren't so expensive. Electronics is fun. Most of my days are spent pondering what to make.

Yeah thats why i didnt have one yet. I still need a few things to get started, like step down transformer, or power supply. There was a couple thermoelectric coolers in there. thought those were neat. Never seen one before What have you made?

Loved them first time i used them. Came from the garbage channellock internal/external pliers.(sorry channellock lovers) Got tired of the clips flying off. Changing the tips, and bending them myself. The bent tips of the knipex set are amazing! Little expensive but top notch.

Pretty excited about this week's new additions.

For HJE day, Norseman drill bit set, free Lufkin tape measure, and a variety of burrs. Guess they ran out of tshirts.

Matco multimeter and test leads

In addition to my first purchase from the Matco guy. A Martin 1 1/8" line wrench and Matco race punches. Not as good of a finish as my Snap On ones but they'll be good.

Also purchased one of these Super Scrapers I've read so much about. Seems like it should be a pretty good investment.

In addition was a 3M respirator, DeWalt box for bits, Tool Shop magnetic paper towel holder, and Torin magnetic bit holder.

They really aren't that expensive if you don't mind the older used analog scopes. Even compared to 4-5 years ago, the higher feature digital scopes have come WAY down.

For a used analog scope you can find 20-30Mhz for sub-$50 if you watch carefully. For 100Mhz used, you can find those for sub-$125 usually.

For digital, you are looking at around the $250 mark to start. Frankly, though the ones at that price range are not worth your time. The real deal starts at the Rigol DS1054Z, at $376 after discount at one rep, a very very nice scope (which is hackable) and is really damn full featured. A few years ago, a scope of this quality would have been in the $800-1200 range.

+1

As per the hackability of the Rigol DS1054Z, it's bandwidth can be doubled to 100MHz, memory doubled to 24Mpts, and a slew of software features including decode options.

Makes an already top notch deal into one that's value can't be beaten right now.

I picked this DHP481Z up Thursday to replace a BHP451 that came with a 4 piece kit I bought about 12 years ago. The old drill stripped its gears about 5 years ago but I wasn't using it much at the time so I never bothered to get it fixed, I guess I was waiting for the recall LOL. If I didn't already have the other tools in the kit I may have got a Milwaukee but this new drill is a beast so as long as they got the gears figured out it may be the last cordless drill I'll ever have to buy.

Garth, I like the Makita's also. They've come a long way since the 7.2v days. :D

Have had the same drill at work since '12 without failure, and use the piss out of it day in and day out.

Yes, there is definitely some investment in this, but we needed it for heavy applications. We needed a 3/4" drive set for our new impact.

This is the first time I've heard of that company. Are they trying to make a presence here now? Website says they are originally a Dutch company and and they make high end tools in Europe for the European market.

They look like nice pieces.

Matt, you are exactly right. They are making a presence for themselves in the USA. They have a great concept in that you get their kits in a laser-cut and labeled foam drawer insert. Take off the shrink-wrap and lay it in your drawer.

They are primarily going after the auto dealer and mechanic shop. Great warranty and easy to work with. I review a lot of tools, and I have to admit they rank very high in the socket quality.

They've been trying to establish a foot hold in the US market for a little less than a year now. They were at SEMA last year. They have given tool sets to a couple of You Tube channels Chrisfix & Humble Mechanic for product placement in their videos & they've provided tools for some racing series. I don't think most of their tools are European made. Some are but, the vast majority appear to be Taiwan made. In fact a lot of the stuff looks like Toptul might have made it substituting red for the normal green & black. :dunno:
I do know that their website pricing isn't cheap the 3/4 set pictured goes for $824.99

Huot Drill Bit Index for Jobber Length Sizes 1/16" to 1/2" in 1/64" Increments #10550 (Made in U.S.A)

Those are the best. I just bought the metric version of that one. I've got 3 or 4 of the fractional ones kicking around, plus the big 115 drill one that holds fractional, letter and numbered drills. Next up is to get the ones to hold reamers, and eventually the ones for taper shank drills.

Thats good to hear Duster, this drill looks like a response to criticism that their brushless were gutless. I'd still have my 7.2 if someone probably a friend hadn't borrowed it. My 9.6 doesnt work anymore but I still use the batteries for a diamond wet saw I've had for 20yrs. Now if I could find a good price for lithium batteries.

picked this up for a bill today, Not a bad deal for home use, also had a magnetic glove dispenser on the side I didn't notice until I got home.

Need to replace the lock since it didn't come with keys, stopped at a HF on the way home from picking it up looking for a replacement cylinder set, not much help, we don't sell any replacement parts, did you buy the extended warranty?

For now I just pulled the lock and removed 3 wafers so I can lock and unlock it with a jiggler key I need to break it down, some one just slapped it together. Need shim the casters, install the shims/reinforcement brackets they left off and a good cleaning.

You can order new locks thru the main headquarters at harbor freight. I think you call the help desk.

I also grabbed the Gearwrench breaker bar BOGO from Advance Auto, and actually had a pleasant experience with a knowledgable employee for once!

For some reason Sears sent me another $10 off $10 tool purchase SYW reward. Again, I didn't know what to buy on the cheap. I browsed the website a bit and realized I needed a new pair of wire strippers. These cost me $3.17 out the door and I had them preordered and ready for pickup.

This set has been after me for a few months. Mac ratcheting interchangeable nut drivers. I used them at my buddy's shop and liked them immediately. Of course they are discontinued. I watched eBay and nothing popped up, then three sets came up within two weeks. One set went for more than I was willing to spend, $100 shipped. The next set I lost the bid, and finally I grabbed this set for $60 shipped.
