Makita XT505 set came in yesterday. Not sure why the image keeps loading upside down but oh well.

Congrats! Was wondering if this plow can be installed on my 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7Litre.. whats the investment? Will it work for doing residential plowing? Im thinking of getting into plowing work over winter time

I paid about 5k installed in MA. It should fit on your Ram but use the BOSS matching system on their website to get a better idea of your options. I plan to do residential with it but only a few accounts this season.

The plow so far is awesome. The mounting/dismounting system is very user friendly and nice to use. Driving down the road the first time I was amazed how "quiet" it is. No bouncing and no shakes or rattles unlike the Fishers I have used prior. Also the build quality is excellent.

My plow came with the old style headlights instead of the new LED ones. So far I like the old style. They are bright and have a nice spread of light at night.

THREAD STARTED!

Uh, I really don't mean to be argumentative but the only similarity is that they're both floor jacks. Everything is different: the shape of the frame and any gusseting or side supports, the shape of the saddle, esp the shape of the lifting arm (one profiles down with a radius, one straight-lines down), even the valance protector.

THAT SAID, this always seems like a great time of year for decent floor jacks to go on sale. I always think I want one, but I've already got 3 good ones and rarely use them anymore since getting a 2-post.

I've always wondered...what types of things are those used for?

Sometimes when I wrench on cars there is limited amount of space around the engine and having a curved wrench enables you to reach space a normal wrench just won't fit.

I just grabbed these Blue Point reversibles at pawn. It's a BOERM24 and BOERM25; not surprisingly 24 and 25mm. Granted, kinda odd sizes I'm unlikely to use. ...

25mm is correct for ER16 collet nuts. Afaik no standard fastener is 25mm. Really surprised Blue Point has a wrench in that size.

I have that impact and I love it. Although mine says 20 Volt. I'm kind of confused since it's a 20 volt battery on yours that says 18 volt.

European spec. Over there companies can't use deceptive marketing tactics. They have to label the tools as the "exact" voltage.

Finally got myself a welder. Now just have to get all the various accessories, add some 20A outlets to the garage and then most importantly learn how to weld.

I'm very much looking forward to this in a few years as well. Our community college offers a welding class and I've been wondering if it would be worthwhile. Lots of guys I know can weld but I'm OCD and when I do learn I want to learn to do it right and learn to be badass at it.

Congrats on starting your venture into welding. Chris.

Yep - "20V MAX" is exactly what it states - the maximum voltage that the battery can produce. In reality they are just 18V batteries. Batteries produce a slightly higher voltage when they are fully charged. Google "maximum vs nominal voltage" for a better explanation.

I got it off an eBay seller who had 18 "refurbished" (mine was taken out of the box by a previous buyer and then returned without a mark on it) units direct from DeWalt. I paid £107 (about $135) for the body only as I already had the charger and a few batteries.

That is awesome!! I had no idea that existed. They are kind of expensive relative to a torch, but sooo worth it I would guess!

GJ always makes me want more tools...
