Picked up the 3 piece USA pry bar set with striking cap for $17.99 at my local sears

Screen Shot 2017-02-14 at 10.01.15 PM.jpg

good deal I got mine a little while ago for maybe $25. The medium size one is already rusted to hell the paint didnt even last one use...seem to be great otherwise though

There's no paint on them, that's just a simple black oxide coating for appearance and minor corrosion protection purposes. It will really only help to prevent rust if you keep the shafts coated in a thin layer of grease, oil, wax, etc. That's why the factory puts a light oil coating on the shafts before sending the bars out in retail packaging. The factory oily coating is very thin weight oil though, so it eventually disappears and you need to put on something a little better and longer lasting yourself.

Thanks for the info that makes sense. The small corrosion marks don't matter to me at all but figured I'd mention it cause I know how some guys on this board are about their tools. Still an awesome price for 3 pry bars

They are top notch. The design is nice and there aint a flaw on any of em. The satin finish is smooth and the lengths are good. Now I gotta find an SAE set from somebody.

Well, in the midst of all these shiny, new tools, this doesn't qualify as new unless I add, "to-me."

I was driving down an alley as junk day is tomorrow in my neighborhood, and saw this old beater box on a used-up workbench. I expected it to be empty, imagine my surprise when I picked it up, and it had some good weight to it. This is what I found when I opened it, a mix of different manufacturers, from the looks of the contents, I think the box got full of water at some point.

Anyway, I'm gonna put them into some solution, and see if I can reduce the rust/oxidation. I don't expect to make these my first-line tools, but maybe something I can sell later at a yard sale.

I got the other set they had out a couple months earlier - 8 piece set, IIRC. I'm pretty sure you'll like 'em. The new design is definitely beefier and nicer to work with than the old ones.

I got some new sockets and ratchets for my garage at home, brought almost all my stuff to my business 10 years ago when we didn't have the cash flow to afford buying tools.

Wow OCD, you're Snap On guy was doing the happy dance when you got off the truck! Nice stuff, how does the Snap On plasma cutter compare to the Miller and Esab, or does one of them make it for Snap On?

He brought everything over yesterday and helped set it up... He was actually kicking himself in the **** because he forgot to charge me the part of the rebates that he as the dealer has to pay... Worked out to $1000... I offered to pay it, but he said the deal is done and it was his screw up... The discount for the package deal worked out to $6500 off retail...

I am not sure who makes the plasma cutters for them, all I know so far is it was made in Italy... It is the first one I have ever used so I can't compare it to others, but it sure beats an oxy/act torch!!

The welder is awesome, you just program the material type, thickness, wire size, and gas used, then the machine does the rest!!

Got some clamps,

What brand are those clamps? I need a different color than everyone else since we use many pairs at work and sometimes they get mixed up with other co workers
