Well, I forgot to take pictures of them, my phone battery died, and now they are all dirty, so here are the pictures of my latest pliers:

image_17343.jpg

image_17345.jpg

$4 each. I would have gotten a discount on one of them, but I bought something more expensive (a box of rubber gloves).

Now, those grips don't actually look anything like the ones that I got, but a different color and texture of rubber is a pretty small thing.

The brand logo is different, too, but that could just be a different stamp. Who knows? :dunno:

I needed them to get at the dreaded Miata "Devil Hose" today; part # BPE 8-15-536, Hose, Water-Oil Cool. It goes from the oil filter housing, around the oil pressure sending unit, under the intake manifold, and into the head below the coil pack.

The only mistake I made was not also getting the long straight pliers; I'm going back for them, though, because these performed well. The jaws close cleanly and grab well, the joint is tight but not stiff, and they tore apart some hose clamps that my Craftsman visegrips were having problems with.

UPS man just dropped off an AirCat 1055 TH on the front porch. I'm amazed at how compact it is....hopefully it still delivers a fairly big punch. 88edf9c513cd09c416abfa78ba1c8375.jpgfd78dfe65d9caac79a1873d06ffc45e5.jpg3dbaeb4e3a692a54a9f49af4ee821ffe.jpg

Pat, in that first picture to the left of your lathe and mill, is that an old early 70's Panther sled?

Update in few weeks once you use it a bit with your thoughts, I was thinking of getting one for our shop. Just another tool that could be handy in tight spots if it has usable power gains over a air ratchet.

I sure will. I've been using an Aircat 805 HT 3/8 air ratchet in the garage on projects for the last 10 months or so. Even with a little over 100 ft lbs of torque, it just isn't enough for small projects like brake caliper brackets.

Picked up this vintage Craftsman =V= #4427 3/8" Speed Wrench. Doubt that I ever use it, but it was free and in fantastic condition. Made in USA

Nice score. My dad had the exact same one growing up. I loved using it and wish I would have gotten it before it came up missing after his death.

As for doubting you will ever use it, I have Snap-On speeders in both 3/8" and 1/4" drives and don't use my 1/4" much but I use my 3/8" quite a bit, much more than I ever thought I would. I especially like using it to speed on head nuts on motorcycles and small engines to get a feel for the resistance well before placing my torque wrench on the fastener.

My son when he was younger used to love spinning the head nuts on the Banshee and Quadracer engines that we built with my speeder. I have pictures of him at the workbench speeding on nuts grinning ear to ear.

I bought a ramp from a Craigslist seller. The ramp has hydraulic deploy assist. This ramp is made in England and is of the highest quality and the design is clever. The form follows the function precisely.
It is a tool for my situation.
I often need to move tools, toolboxes or heavy machines into and out of the basement of our home. To get into the basement, there is a 7 inch drop into an outside step-well, then a door threshold. After removing any fuel, I like to store the rototiller, sidewalk edger and the lawnmower inside. This folding ramp will ease the movement of machines from outside to inside. I paid $200 and I helped the seller remove the final 4 bolt down fasteners of the total of 8. The ramp was in his recently purchased Sprinter. The Sprinter is being converted to a camper.

Grabbed this at lunch today to supplement my metric T-handles. I use them all the time on my motorcycle and for $7.97 (after free points) I couldn't resist.

I went to a friends house on Monday. He was helping me remove bearing off of a 1954 Craftsmen Cabinet Saw's drive shaft. After everything was done, this is what I brought back home with me and it was all free thanks to my friend Larry Hampton. Very awesome guy. :bounce: :lol_hitti

I've been helping my neighbors take care of their family members house who recently passed away. He was a hoarder of sorts, but the house always look clean from the outside.

Lately for helping them, they've been letting me have some of his tools for the massively packed basement. They wanted things to go to people that would actually value them and use them. These are a bunch of harbor fright tools, but we've only just begun looking through things.

All of these clamps and vises are NOS in the original boxes with the factory grease and directions. The large Craftsman woodworking vise (391-5195) had never been opened and is in almost perfect condition! And they're all made in Japan.

Found a bit of a honey pot of a garage sale. I bought a GE industrial electric AC motor for $2, and this awesome riding mower trailer for $25. It has a dump feature and a removable tail gate. It's about 20 cubic feet perhaps. I'll have to measure it.

It's a poor pic, but I picked up the "Texas twister" from snap on. My guy had it for $250 CAD, significantly less than Matco carries it around here. I think that Snap on just started to carry it, hence the decent price.

It is definitely going to have a place in my box. Using it has a learning curve, it's weird to approach work I've done for years with a tool that pulls like a slide hammer. Worked well today pulling a couple bearings off of a combine fan shaft. I'm gonna look for a good slide hammer set to compliment this set, as there is an adapter to thread into slide hammer attachments.

I've been waiting a long time for someone to buy one of those and test it out. ^^^

Keep us posted. I agree I use slide hammers and air hammers all the time its definitely a cool concept... I only hope it works as good as it looks...
