I have SK stubbies in metric (The old Craftsman Professional's that were made by SK), and never had any stubbies in SAE. So I picked up a full set of Tekton's just so I have them. Now these are wrenches that just won't be used often at all, but it's nice to have them. I must say, I'm very impressed with them. They are much nicer wrenches than I was expecting.

Not really a tool but it makes using "tools" more comfortable. Got my new Happy Feet Mats in from Uline.

Awesome Pat.:thumbup:

I haven't had time to get my new ones ordered yet. I tossed my old ones from the old shop but after years of use I really didn't want to bring them to the new shop and I want to get a bit nicer ones than I had at the old shop.

Those look like the ones I have been thinking about but will probably wait until I see a sale that is too good to pass up.

Shop looks great Pat, I love seeing pictures of your place and the new lathe looks right at home.

Picked up a couple NOS USA made Craftsman Industrial Ratcheting Wrenches. The polished wrench has a 15* offset, is reversible and has a finer tooth count (72t I think) and a smoother action. The straight combo feels like the USA made raised panel ratcheting wrenches I have but with a slightly better finish.

Mike these mats are great. We just got some in at the plant here and the guys love them. So I thought I would give them a try at home...they are a little spendy at $135.00 each...

iaJ No nuts required...LOL...you know what I mean...I am only 120 miles north of the IA-MN boarder...roll on up...the door is always open when I am there...late nights and weekends...some Sundays the door gets locked so I can get my stuff done...where are you in IA??? I worked on farms between New Hampton and Lawler when I was a kid...

I'd give a nutt to just be his neighbor...

Neighbor to the west is in Foreclosure...may not have to use the nut as a down payment...just say'in...

Do your sunex hose pliers seem ok. The set I got stuck with are out of round, lop-sided, and have a lot of un finished metal.

How did it go with the bolt? Is the impact gun the only option?

Where did you buy the super Scraper from?

It came out and yes the impact was the only option. It was incredibly corroded in. Even the new impact had to try pretty hard to break it loose. It was the upper bolt...so tight against the engine block and you have to use a 12 inch extension to get a drive tool on it. So once you get on the bolt you have no swing room for a big ratchet or breaker bar because of the oil pan on one side and leaf springs on the other side.

The super scraper is from my matco dealer.

Thanks for the info Pat. I may have to investigate those when I get a few other projects completed.

Do they sweep off nice? One thing I didn't like about my last ones was the fact that swarf seemed to get imbedded way too easily into the material and they couldn't be swept off very easy at all. These ones appear to be made of maybe a bit higher density than mine so maybe that won't be an issue.

Mine are pretty good, I wouldn't say at the quality level of other pliers like snap on, matco, knipex, etc. But certainly sufficient to remove hoses. They don't bind, twist, or misalign. And they open and close relatively smoothly.
If I had to remove 20 hoses a day I might choose higher quality, but then again who removes 20 hoses a day?

Well, I can mark this off my bucket list.....finally got a NICE set of Snap-On metric wrenches :thumbup:

This is a USED set (can't figure out what he ever used them on) that doesn't have a mark, or a scratch, or a dent, or a ding, ANYWHERE!!....I'm almost scared to use them!!!!
They are flank drive.....NOT flank drive plus

20171130_165331.jpg 20171130_165255.jpg 20171130_165242.jpg

All the wrenches in this set has the 1997 date code on them "except" the 13 mm which has a 1996 date code.....figure that one out :dunno:

20171130_180835.jpg

p.s.....I got this set for way less than what I have seen extremely used/abused and mis-matched set go for ;)

Thanks for the feedback, 1800 Nm torque is pretty impressive for a 217 mm length impact gun.

Couple of bits from a few deals on black Friday;

zv5xex.jpg

Basic knipex combo pliers
17mm deep impact socket
3/8 Tekton swivel head
Set of wera torx drivers

I've also decided to buy into Milwaukee's new M18 line of cordless tools thanks to the members on here raving about the majority of them, i ordered the below compact 1/2" as a bare tool tool and also the 1/4" impact driver thats still to come as a kit with charger and 2 5ah batteries, not much more than Dewalt but a bit more powerful going by the specs;

2djdpap.jpg

Finally after getting a set of long Gearwrench 84 tooth ratchets and using them a fair bit i decided to buy a set of their long flex head ratchet spanners with a zero offset box end, they seem very nice, looking forward to getting them into work next week for some testing;

They could tell me how they distinguish the year in which the snap on keys were made.
I have a couple of them and I would like to know.

Look for the small imprint and compare it to the date code chart (below or on the internet)

Combination of eBay finds and some things from the truck, all yesterday.

Wall mount key box, piggy bank for the kids, some three row socket trays, like new T72 ratchet, like new Blue Point ratcheting wrenches, and a winter hat (of course).

Hello fellow tool lovers,

Just got this in the shop a couple weeks ago. I am looking for a mandrel catcher for my #4 Dake Press. I know I can buy a new one but it is so expensive. I am trying to find an old one that has a nice rusty patina and a lot less in price. Here are a few images of that I am searching for. Any help out there will be greatly appreciated.

Also here is a link to my very first thread: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/...d.php?t=376426

In the new set of Snap On HD Torx bit sockets I bought a few months ago during the after-conference special, they were a mix of 2017 and 2016 sockets. They probably just run big batches at a time, and new ones get mixed in the bin with the old ones. Doesn't bother me.

Thanks to GJ member asm154 for the Hot deals post.

How much was the shipping on those wrenches?

I honestly have no need for anything that big but for $60 plus shipping, it's one of those 'you never know, maybe one day I'll need them" kind of things.

Yup, you never need them....until you need them. I have a 1-2" set hanging on the wall that rarely gets used. But when they do, it's the only thing that will work. Same with my metrics over 21mm.

My dealer finally got my screwdrivers In! These are the new sets that come with a PH 4, Ordered these right after the snap on expo. Apparently it comes with a free umbrella. I am a green junkie but I don't think I'll be using this in public lol, a little too loud for me.

Something I just noticed, the Phillips "ACR" seems much less pronounced than before. The "teeth" are much less aggressive. Also only the PH 1 and 2 have them, not the 3 or 4. df1b2d8e920d00a7a67ea990179f1551.jpg
