My first brand new Snap-on ratchet. I've always wanted one but I could never justify the $150 for it. Got some gift cards for Christmas and finally pulled the trigger on one! It is SO NICE. Item number FLF80A

Been ordering some SK Tuff 1 ratchets here lately. It all started with just grabbing a 1/4" drive for work. Well I liked it enough that I bought another for the toolbox along with a few more. Picked up the Proto 1/4" J4749XL just to try one out. Im quite impressed with the Proto, even being only 45 teeth.23f6180d97c3315bd2a7fde82fa93864.jpgf4c55489e1d6a623f947229ad000115d.jpg
I know how that goes! Bought a 45175 just to try them out, then bought another, then a flex, long, bent flex and 1/2"! I'm trying to thin them out now since I just don't have use for them all at home.:lol_hitti

I did just miss out on one of those Proto ratchets in 3/8" long. Got snaked at the last second on eBay over the weekend. Oh well.

FedEx dropped these off a few minutes ago. Got a great deal on them from Tooltopia. SK 86265 15 piece metric 8-22 mm. I found a pretty good deal on Amazon for the 23mm,which I will use on my motorcycle, so I grabbed it also.2af255fc0bbd9cc016838a237ec70203.jpg

Sweet! I have the same set plus a few additional sizes up to 32mm and absolutely love them. Planning on adding a long pattern set sometime soon.

Even with gift cards, You still paid $150 for it, ya know? Just saying; gift cards are just like cash. Use em on the ratchet or use em on anything else... Just don't stash em in your mattress. Hope you like your $150 ratchet.

Those Vampliers are awesome for stuck nuts and bolts. I use that plus some Kroil and if the Vamplier can't remove it I switch to Vise-Grips.

Engineer (the OEM for Vampliers) and 3.Peaks have locking pliers with the same jaw design.

Accessories for the mill and lathe, how about a LH caliper..?.... A new discovery for me, extremely handy when turning.

Actually got a deal, not some hype, 70 bucks off the total.

I’ve been looking at those for awhile now. Do they work good in all applications or only to get out stripped screw/bolts?

I would not use them for an application that requires a somewhat flat surface in the plier's jaws - like holding things together, twisting cables, etc -, the concave design of the Vampliers, together with all those teeth can mess things up. A conventional pair of pliers is a better alternative IMHO.

They're very good for pulling screws - and nails - as advertised, cutting and pulling cables, etc.

Get the Engineer version, it's cheaper...I don't think the red handles are worth the extra money. Vampliers literally have Engineer on the handles, not sure why people pay the extra money for a rebrand. :headscrat

I have a Craftsman and a Snap On. The Craftsman impact driver is a toy compared to the Snap On.
It's funny because I've had a harbor fright one for the last 5 years and it's gotten me out of easily 30+ jams. Best $7.99 I've ever spent. It works, but it's a pain in the *** to use, and the bits are garbage. This thing is a Cadillac compared to the cheaper ones. Not horrendous at around $60.

You guys should take a look at Matco's impact driver. It's much, much heavier than my coworker's Snap-on, and it's busted loose a few rotor screws that the Snappy, eh, loosened up for it.

https://www.matcotools.com/catalog/product/SID12PBA/12PC-HAND-IMPACT-DRIVER-SET/
I actually bought the matco about a year ago and I ended up taking it back. I couldn't justify the price at the time. But yeah their's is pretty beefy. If I had a matco driver still I'd probably have considered it again

Looks like I got lucky with a score. Picked up this new Proto J5249XL-TT from Amazon for $25 and free Prime shipping (I wanted the 90 tooth version but too cheap to pay $70 on sale). Must have been the last one or a one time thing because it's no longer listed, lowest price now is $100, although the identical J5249XL (less the tether hole) is $40. Also recently picked up a Witte screwdriver for $2.98 as an Amazon add on item, also no longer available and $12.88 now. It's odd how these deals come and go, I guess you just have to have good timing.:headscrat

I picked this up yesterday and used a $50 gift card from my GF. I needed a mixer for various small jobs. This thing is a beast.
