My fractioal wrench collection needed some attention so I decided to try Carlyle due to some good reviews. This set does a couple things for me: I had neither "Flank Drive Plus" style open ends or reversible ratcheting box ends. Gaining 6 point open ends was a bonus. The set was in the real deal flyer for $99. I did have to pay shipping (7.99) though since my local NAPA refused to eat that cost.

I have included a picture of 3 different open ends. I measured the 1/2" size with a micrometer and surprisingly the Chinese sourced Gearwrench was the closest to 1/2". Note the size of the open ends on the smallest of the lots. We can make assumptions about the underlying metallurgy but without destructive testing it would be nothing but supposition. However it is clear that the Carlyle has the smallest profile and therefore the best clearance.

If I were not a "lobster claw" snob already this comparison would make me one.

Picked up a 9/16" Allen brand long arm hex wrench since I was missing this size and needed it the other day. Irwin dies and a tap. The 5mm .090 was is go in my set since they had a double of another size and left this one out. Found out one day when I needed it. The other set is 8mm 1.0 for the bottom bracket on my vintage mountain bike. The last is a 6" long 1/4" dive Snap On wobble extension.

Same 72 tooth Taiwan made, that are rebranded by Kobalt and others.
Mine are smooth.
I have abused a 1/4 and 3/8 Kobalt without failures, before buying different ratchets.
For the price, I feel they are an excellent buy.

I recently picked up these Powerbuilt Pro 1/4 drive ratchets. Heads are pretty compact, that's a nickel next to them. They have 72 teeth with a quick release head. The flexhead's head closely resembles a Carlyle flex head quick release ratchet but, the direction switch is shaped slightly different. I think i may like the handle shape though. it reminds me of a Tone or Blackhawk pear head ratchet but, it's rotated 90 degrees so, its widest portion faces your fingers with knurling in the center. Nice chrome, Taiwan made, crisp action. Thee fixed ratchet measures approx 5 5/8 inches overall, while the flex head comes in at 6 3/4 inches long. We'll see how they work out.

So what's your impression on that 1/4" toptul rat? I bought one a few months back and I think it's ok, but not nearly as nice as a few others I own. I bought it for a couple reasons. First off it was on sale for like $10 and second I had been looking at trying out some of their other rats. So to land this plane, I'm glad I only spent a days lunch money, I won't be spending a night out on the town in the near future that's fur sure.

Just won these two on Ebay.. for £7 thats $9.90 . The one with the long jaws is a Record but I'm not sure what the other one is yet.. but I wanted a swivel vice for the other end of my bench from the record 25 I have.. and the price is great..

And they are only 5 minutes away so I can collect..

Picked up a few things on Amazon. Knipex auto crimpers work great. My first Williams ratchet. #3 Phillips to match my Felo driver set. Wilde punches and some shrink connectors to finish it off!

Just picked this up at work for 10 dollars. Aircat 1375XL. Guy sold it because it wouldn't remove any bolts that the other guys put in with their SnapOn MG725 lol. I tried to explain to him that the SnapOn should be compared to the 1150 or 1250k model, but he just wanted the junky Aircat gone. For 10 bucks, I was happy to oblige
