It's a race to get all of the tools I want before I retire. My Milwaukee M18 drill is dying, as are several of my batteries, so I ponied up for a new one with two 5.0 batteries. Although it is the same size as my old drill, it sure has a lot more grunt, and the higher RPM is nice for wood working.

I went to the sidewalk sale at HF and came home with a side box for my 44" box, and a 20 ton press. I don't have much need of a press, but I've always wanted one, and for $150, it was a no-brainer. Stupid sideways picture)

Been thinking of adding semi deeps in 1/4" metric anyway. Since I have a thing for orange and didn't have a long 1/4" ratchet this was an easy decision. 3bd069c6807704c75d645ffeb1b76a94.jpg6bc77a75b76998c154e5643f8cd42dd2.jpg

How are the 3 row socket trays? Do they take up excessive space? I have semi deep in 3/8 & 1/4 and have been contemplating a 3 row tray. I'm just concerned that it will take up too much space in my already jam packed tool boxes.

I had them before I switched to the grid. I liked them.

First is some Bondhus ball allen wrenches. All the allens I got floating around and didn't have one .050. Needed one to change out a 3 point potentiometer on a boxcar magnum.

Second is a 3/8 x 17" long flex ratchet from Powerbuilt. Been wanting to try a Powerbuilt ratchet after seeing all the Carlyle quick release ratchets on here. All I can say is wow, very nice. Very little backdrag, 72 teeth, small head with detents in the flex. And nice chrome and handle shape really comfortable. If I needed more ratchets would definitely buy more of these, especially for the cost difference versus Carlyle. 8fd0f58c2bc0d32bde408c830e9c662c.jpg

I actually feel like they are more space efficient than the two row trays. There seems to be slightly less space between the rows. The overall width is bigger obviously but nowhere near 50% bigger like you might assume. The length is identical.

I have the 1/4" Powerbuilt flex ratchet and absolutely love it. It seems to be the exact same mechanism as my Carlyle, but for far less. I love these Powerbuilt ratchets!

Where is the power built ratchet made China or Taiwan? And where do they sell power built tools?

Taiwan, guessing same place that makes the quick release ratchets for Carlyle, Tone, and Blackhawk. And there could be others.

Not sure on locals, bought this one off ebay.

Ive been needing new tap wrenches for quite some time. I was making due with the cheap, crappy ones that come in the tap and die kits. Finally got annoyed enough to order some.

Picked up
Starrett 93A, 93B, and 91B
Irwin 1/4"-1/2"
Greenfield No. 6 (not picked..hasnt shown up yet)
52ltvm.jpg

The Irwin one is pretty meh. Gets the job done but isnt smooth and is a bit of a pain in the **** to tighten.

The Starretts.....I have mixed feelings. As they are now they are great! Smooth to use, easy to tighten, and hold taps nicely throughout their range.

But out of the box they leave a lot to be desired. All three had grit from their manufacturing still on them. Not just a little bit but a bunch...as if they didnt even bother to clean them more than shaking them off. Made them gritty and hard to use due to grit in the threads. But cleaning them up left me with what you would expect...a nicely made product that is smooth to use.

Heres a picture of the debris out of the box on one of them

Id like to get a T handle tap wrench for bigger taps (12mm and 1/2") but not sure if ill do a Starrett 93C or pick an older one up

Nice. I love my Starrett 91b tap handle. Also have the 91a and 91c but the b seems to get the most use.

Got some oem stuff from mobiledistrubitorsupply. I was mainly intrigued by the foam tray. These are made in Taiwan and have the same ratchets as the duralast snapon 936 knockoffs. They have some nice touches that made these worth getting over gearwrench. The spark plug sockets are magnetic and the extensions are turned down narrower than most. The bit ratchet that came with the 1/4" set is only a little over 3".

Holy Hell, thats f#&*$^g awesome! :rocker:Love the collectables! What are the dimensions of the shed? Where is it located as far as your house? Did you run power to it if its far away? I need answers man! lol. You need to either do a build thread on this, or just email me what you did and the pics :D

Interested as well. Your shed deserves its own thread if it doesn’t already have one

I grabbed those two OEM sets over the holidays when they were on sale. I've been impressed with them so far. I like the satin finish, and the knurling on the sockets/extensions.

I did once some time back, but was informed that it wasn't a garage build soo
In the meantime, I just lay low on the tool forums. Maybe if one makes a thread like: Show us your tool build projects or something. Unless you guys got another Idea for a thread for project builds? LoL.

Sure, just shoot me a PM.
The shed is 12x10x14. Its about 10 feet from the house. Wiring is separate for both sides of the shed, so power on one side does not effect the other. Power is run under the ground, through the garage, an into the breaker box. Has its own breaker there, an a switch in the shed itself, so I can shut off all power if needed.

The 1/4 in semi deep metrics are the greatest thing ever. It's my go to set of sockets around the body shop for the misc small tasks I do. Those with a 3 inch Matco locking extension and Matco mini polished 72 tooth ratchet would be my main go to setup. 10mm always seems to be in play. You can take the majority of a Japanese and now Korean car apart with this.:D

Yeah going by size itll be getting the most use for sure! Just wish they had made it able to accept 1/2" and 12mm size taps and it would have been perfect.

One thing that bugged me about the Starrett tap handles (besides not being marked USA any more) is that they don't make larger sizes. Of course at $160 list for a 91D,
I wouldn't wanna know what bigger would cost. They are great handles, though.

I want pearl blue stuff. But am afraid to mess up the finish. I wish there were more blue tools.

The tooth counts are different as well. The 17 is higher/smoother when the 11 comes in I think it has a reversing lever to change direction where these get flipped over.
I won’t stress because the price was right at less than 20 dollars a wrench and these are new. NOS
