I want pearl blue stuff. But am afraid to mess up the finish. I wish there were more blue tools.

I feel the same way about messing up the blue but what pearl blue stuff I have gets used gently around the house. For me it's of the collecting the stuff. I don't spend on smokes or drinks, gave up on the vintage cars so since I like tools and use them gently at home all is good. I use my pearl blue screwdrivers in the use and yes they get used.

CH Hanson Automatic locking pliers.

Simple one hand use?

han2.jpg

The lower handle flops open very wide which I find awkward to reach when using one hand.

han3.jpg

I guess my XXL hands are too small :(

han4.jpg

I bought these on impulse as I thought it was a good idea and it kind of is. If you want to grip multiple sized objects without adjusting the tension they are fine. The issue is that I usually want to grip each object with different force depending on what material it is so I end up having to alter these each use anyway. Fit and finish is very good. Made in Taiwan.

These are made by Armor Tool, who also makes Kreg Automaxx. I don't love these specifically because how you use vice grips but these are definitely nicer than Irwin. Though, be aware that some of these are made in China and those are much more sloppy in the jaws.

This design is much better suited in the "multi purpose" locking pliers like this [IMG]http://www.timbecon.com.au/theme/timbeconcomau/assets/public/image/products/Thumbnails/624174-3-MPC-70_4_webres.jpg

Or on their (or Craftsman branded) bench dog clamps.

Got some oem stuff from mobiledistrubitorsupply. I was mainly intrigued by the foam tray. These are made in Taiwan and have the same ratchets as the duralast snapon 936 knockoffs. They have some nice touches that made these worth getting over gearwrench. The spark plug sockets are magnetic and the extensions are turned down narrower than most. The bit ratchet that came with the 1/4" set is only a little over 3".

I dig some of oem tools stuff, almost tempted to buy the socket sets just for their holders.

Are those sockets satin-finished? I've been looking for a decent set of sockets but it's hard to find anything that's not mirrored and priced below Gedore/Stahlwille.

I have had good luck with Wilde nail sets. IMO, Dasco and Stanley nail sets are junk. Those are the only 3 brands I've used, Wilde is USA and good quality for cheap, not made of taffy and cheap like other 2... They were/are on the shelf at Menards.

I did buy the DASCO set from homedepot. However, after I discovered GJ I returned the set right away. After some research it seems WILDE set will be the most economic option with good quality. Made in US too!

Have been debating a new set of toys to celebrate the removal of an unceccesay amount of craftsman raised panels from my tool boxes.

The Carlyle set of ratchets takes the place of about 12 raised panels lol.

Was in ace for non tool related reasons and I stumbled across a red hot deal. Each of those packs of 5 US made screw drivers was only $5. Hard to pass that up.

Got the Gear Wrench 1/4 Master Socket set. It's been discontinued, but found a BNIB on ebay for $120 shipped. COO is Taiwan. Very pleased with these sockets. I like the fact the sockets have a knurling and the socket holders are surprisingly better than what I was expecting. Added O-rings to my swivel sockets as soon as they came out of the box. :)

I recently made my first order from Mobil Distributor Supply only because they carried the one and only thing I was looking for.......a wrench rack larger than 20 spots for my recent toptul 26 piece wrench set.

Anyhow this was my first time checking out the joint and I was floored at some of the prices. And the next thing ya know with free shipping coming in at a $100 had to go there. But honestly having never heard of them before this, I wasn't expecting much and wondered if I might be in for a battle.

But I'm happy to announce everything I ordered came post haste and in perfect shape. Packaging was stellar and I will be doing more business with them in the future. :rocker:

You know the way one thing leads to another?
I ran into Harbor Freight to replace the 18" metal ruler that I somehow misplaced.
Might as well get this one with a square instead, right? Unfortunately, it's 2" shorter.
But here's this really long aluminum ruler, I could just get that, too.
And while I'm here, why don't I pick up that paddle-switch electric angle grinder that I've been thinking of getting, so I don't have to crank up the air compressor for little jobs.
Oh, and some discs.
I made it home and—oops! I grabbed cutting discs, not grinding discs. Oh well, I'll run over to Lowe's and get some nicer quality grinding discs, and maybe a coarse-grit flap wheel...

Buddy bought a used toolbox, I ended up with these. No complaints.

Bojo plastic prybars, the rest is all snap on - 1/4" driver, carbon scraper, adapter, and extensions.

Miwaulkee Bandsaw

I had been saving for a Dewalt bandsaw sold at Lowes (they don't sell Milwaulkee) because I had a few gift cards to help. I saw this on Craig's List and jumped on it. I believe it is the current model deep cut with led and variable speed. With the case and an extra blade, I paid $171.00 it. I think I did well. I going to make my own stand for it like the Swag.

Got me some merica tools to replace my other crappier merica tools.

Very nice! I've been looking at a few Williams sets and have been debating getting them with the box or tools only. Do you think the case was worth the extra $?

Been looking for this style of wheel bearing packer for awhile, you can stack 2 bearings at once quick and simple.

I picked up a new 3/4 ratchet.

EZ Red’s extendable 3/4 drive.

Collapsed length of 24”.

I haven’t used it yet but it feels and looks like a quality ratchet. The detents for the extension are firm and feel secure. The teeth engagement feels positive.

I’m looking forward to actually using it.

In this instance I needed the case because I plan to keep this set up at my parent's house. Seems like every time I go there they need something done so I stash a decent and improving set up there.

I have a WSMB-29F (no TB) and keep it in my roller cab at home. Sometimes I wish I had a box to put it in and go on a project or road trip with, but my Hazet 1/4" and 1/2" drive set with a plastic case works fine for that.

Mind you I paid $69.39 for the WSB-23FTB and the WSB-23F is $201.42 so I was getting the case whether I like it or not lol.

Dang where was that deal at?

That's a sweet ratchet Mike. I have the extra long fixed head assortment of 1/4 thru 1/2 and absolutely luv them. If I didn't already have a Williams 3/4 I'd sure consider that one.

Thanks Cam. I recently had my shorter NAPA 3/4" breaker bar break, the pin that goes through the drive block. It may or may not have had anything to do with the 3' cheater that I had on it.:dunno:
