Don’t use your knipex pliers wrench as a prybar.

LOL

But...but...Knipex...they're Knipex, can't they disassemble the planet and still look brand new?
Is everything I've learned on GJ a lie?!!!
If they don't warranty it make no less than ten threads complaining about them not warranting the simple use of this tool and attempt to blacklist them.

Seen this earlier in this thread and since it is still USA and Sears was having a spend $50 get $25/$25 back, I would get it.

I was going to say that they were damaged in shipping, but figured you guys could work with anything I said.
Seriously though, could you imagine if you ordered a regular pair and they accidentally sent these to you? Of course if you knew about them, it wouldn't be as funny.

Looks like it says GERMANY to me...
Looks like it says GERMANY to me...
I have plenty of tools that say USA, Japan, Taiwan, Germany. To me, that is space saving and the COO. FWIW, I don't think Knipex outsources.Wow never noticed that. That's actually what gets me suspicious, loads of tools say 'germany' particularly things like wrenches and spanners made in India or China but marketed by a German company are labelled like this. German manufacturers usually make a big play on putting 'made in Germany' clearly on the tool. Its a very nice tool, well machined and very smooth opening, but this could be said of many Taiwan tools too.

They do outsource, but the examples off the top of my head are from other German tool companies. Their locking pliers and revolving hole punch pliers are made in Germany by Bollmann-Selzer, and their dismantling tools are made in Germany by Jokari.I have plenty of tools that say USA, Japan, Taiwan, Germany. The want is strong on this one. Especially since I went to HD at lunch and saw they had the kit on for 268$. Reg is 299$ there and it's currently 319$ on Amazon.ca. Some day.Grabbed the Mid Torque today. Hard to be lieve it's as small as it is and still has a great amount of power.
That is a thing of beauty. My Crick level arrived yesterday at work. Coworker sent me picture. Says he can't believe the quality. I'll get it Saturday when I get in for my next shift.
As others have stated, Germany is embedded in the steel itself at the joint.Knipex pliers to fill the order, it does not say made in Germany on the tool or handle which is unusual for Knipex, is this an import i wonder ?!?

That said, Made in Germany/Germany may not be what one thinks it is. Specifically, the rules only require that it's 20% German to qualify, or what they call significant transformation. Meaning, you can shove a foreign made screwdriver blade into a plastic handle made wherever in Germany, and it qualifies for Made in Germany.![]()
I have a set of Spero wrenches marked "Pat in Germany"
The box they came in stated "Made in Taiwan"
Some USA goodies: Spellmaco transfer punches, Starrett pin vises, and Nielsen transfer screws. And also a set of Noga deburring tools.[/QUOTE]
I'm digging the transfer screws. Where'd you pick those up at?

KBCtools.com If you spend more than $100, you can use Abom79's promo code KBC25AB for $25 off. They appear to be well made, just arrived today, haven't used them yet.

New to me. Driving by a garbage sale i though I saw some tools so turned around to take a look. Most of what little they had was total junk but this stuck out. Looks unused to me. Manufacturer/date code is L-AB which I think the 'L' means Taiwan (not sure about that - may be China - same diff) and the AB would be 2012 IIRC.
They wanted $30 for it. I tried to look it up on Sears, Amazon, ebay, etc, but couldn't for the life of me remember what to call this style socket set. I know they've been around a good while and several brands sell them, even recall a thread here comparing which are compatible with which, but still drawing a blank.
Anywho, offered $25 and they took it. Pretty happy with that, but still not sure if I got a good deal or not. I wonder if I couldn't have gotten the same set new from Sears for less with SYW points/freecash, assuming they even still sell it.

Think what sears calls it is a pass thru socket set.![]()
You got a pretty sweet deal. I was bidding on this set (with the bits in the lid) on ebay a few weeks back and I ducked out at $125. In the end, it went for around $250. I was shocked it went that high.
Damn, I don't know why I couldn't even think of that. I just now searched Sears and looks like Craftsman actually calls them "Max Axess" but I see Gearwrench calls them 'Pass Thru' which makes more sense (searching on the computer is sooo much better than on my phone - can never seem to find the same results on mobile - not sure why). I'm not seeing the set I got on Sears though there is a smaller set they want $50 for which at best I probably could have gotten for about half that with SYW discounts, which is what I paid for this so not too bad.
Holy ****!
No freaking way I'd have paid anywhere near that for them. Just. No.
