I know this question might be getting a little too in depth, but does it matter which side of the pry bar is facing down when pulling nails?

Yes if you are removing nails to reuse the timber, not really if it’s going to scrap

Picked this set of reversible metric ratcheting wrenches for $19 at TSC. I have several ratcheting wrenches, but not one that is reversible. Until now.

They were on clearance and TSC was having 15% off Gearwrench, so they applied it also. I wasn't expecting that. I love Gearwrench too. Unfortunately they only had metric otherwise I would've bought SAE as well.

Probably few and far between. More in rural areas. They definitely exist in Cali.

Quick googling reveals a handful between LA and San Diego.

No longer will I struggle so much with rusted on lug nuts. Grabbed this Central Tools 7005 3/4" drive 36" long breaker bar. I don't know much about it, but $47 shipped send a decent deal for such a large made in USA breaker bar, and I've been looking for something bigger than my 18.5" Craftsman breaker bar.

Has quite a bit of info stamped on both sides of the bar, and says Hunter Wilde on the handle.

I thought the same thing when I opened it! The pictures in the eBay listing didn't show a good angle to be able to see that, and the listing described it as a breaker bar.

Before I bought it, I couldn't find any documentation online for "Central Tools 7005," as shown in the stamp, so I chalked it up to an old tool from a smaller tool manufacturer with little online presence, figured I wanted a breaker bar, and bought it.

The other thing the pictures also didn't show was the list of patent numbers stamped on the reverse side of the bar. I just did a patent search for those, and sure enough, they're all patents for torque limiting mechanisms :-/

I bet you will find that it is set to 475 foot pounds or some standard truck wheel stud rating. Could be worth a lot more if you know what it is rated for. I think it would be an awesome score for anyone working on large trucks, if it is rated for them, but the 3/4" drive makes me think it is a high torque number.

Knipex Ear Clamp (Oetiker) pliers and Ares Low Profile Impact Adapter Set



This is my first go with anything Ares but these seem really well made and the knurling is excellent.

Really? Have you tried the knipex? These are my first ear clamp pliers so I wouldn't know the differences. The regular Oetiker pliers look identical to the knipex, and their compound action pliers look kinda bulky. These will be used for automotive/motorcycle hoses so space can get cramped. I'm not using them for all day PEX installs...

Let me know, I'll return the Knipex if you say they truly ****....

Nothing wrong with the knipex, just not compound action, and they do not offer a crimp at 90 degrees to the clamp. They are also not too bulky. Most place I use the clamps are space constrained and the oeitker pliers have been great. Also good clamps are stainless and tough to squeeze, so the compound action helps. Just to clarify, I have both, but use the oetiker by choice. If I was at my shop, I would take a picture of them side by side. The only issue I would say is that the pincher is narrower on the oetiker, but I have had very few issues with that.

I did a little searching and I understand that Knipex used to make the pliers for Oetiker before Oetiker built their own factory. BTW, my Knipex (10991220) have the 90° crimp on one side.

I guess I'll keep the Knipex, hell, they're already here...

I took a chance on this Amazon Warehouse Deal for $117. I've been watching this set and it's typically sells for $200. The tray is a bit banged up and I doubt that I'll even use it. The tools are in great shape though.

I just got a set myself of the flex style. Apparently, it's Sears' new post-bankruptcy plan to get you in the store. I received notice that a flex ratcheting set was on sale for like 75% off ($24.99) and I also received $25 in bonus points. So the set was. . .free!

I wasn't really looking to buy a set since I already had 12, 13 and 14mm but now I have the whole set, maybe for re-gifting. Also, for me this dispels the whole Made in China thing, at least for future purchases. These are made by Apex in China, and the design and apparent quality are identical to the older Danaher/Apex USA-made wrenches I already had.

I got a couple of Oetiker clamp pliers from Zoro. Ordered 2 side pliers, received 1 regular pliers and 1 side pliers so I might send the wrong one back even though it costs more. In their defense the wrong label was stuck on the packaging so the picker got what they thought was the correct tool. Also got several years worth of Baldwin oil filters and hard to find air filters for my Ferrari.
