Same here. The 14 piece metric set on Amazon is a whopping $20.00 for 6mm - 19mm with no skips... How in the world can anybody compete with this and the SAE set for $10??

My Carlyle metric set alone was over $40. Justified buying this to myself as saving money. The socket rail isn’t as nice if it matters to you.

Grabbed another set of the OEMtools stubby sockets for my friend with a cramped engine bay. Can't touch these for the price and the rail is really nice to boot

I've got a set of those too, and they are indeed very nice. All sockets should have that knurling, really.

Link and price please, those look great, are they 3/8?

Are OEM brand tools a high quality alternative to Chinese made stuff equal to what they would sell at Harbor Freight? Or are they on the level with brands like Tekton, old Craftsman, etc? I have never seen anything from them in person, I was always under the impression they were tools you would buy from stores like Walmart or Pep Boys.

They do look really nice in the pictures.

Made in Taiwan and good quality. Definitely at the same level as Tekton and similar. I like the Tekton 90T ratchets better, but the 72T 1/4-drive OEMTOOLS ratchet I have is actually very good. I like the OEMTOOLS sockets better than Tekton because of the satin finish and knurling. Take a look at their impacts and the features they offer. I bought the 1/2" drive metric deeps and standards and they're great, too. Grab a set of the stubbies and give them a try!

Got a 2 pack of 9 amp hr batteries for the Ryobi One + tools I bought Sunday. My cousin is fixing to add another 30 ft onto his garage, so the circular saw will be seeing heavy use shortly. Also picked up a dewalt impact bit set, along with some 3/32 collets and a gas lens kit for the tig torch.Almost forgot about the 19 mm SK flexzone socket from the socket of the club. They sure seem beefy.

Haven't bought a pair of Knipex in a while lol

Seems their needle nose aren't held in high regard in comparison to say, their cutters.

But these are the 08 21 145 needle nose combination pliers with cutter, 5.75" and they appealed to me for a small, stubby jaw needle nose general use pocket pliers.

Hopefully they aren't duds. The tips of the jaws are ground symmetrically which satisfies my OCD. The hang tag does say "slim head design with pointed *twist proof* jaws".

My opinion is that it's lipstick on a pig. I bought an OEM gasket scraper since I didn't have one in the size I needed, and it's absolute garbage.

I think I know what thread you're referring to. Since Knipex hit the ball out of the park with the Pliers Wrench & Cobras, I think everyone had the same expectations for their other products. Their needle nose pliers are great in an electronics application. They do leave more to be desired when you're using them in automotive application, but it's very seldom that a tool is great at "everything."

Ares SAE mid length 3/8 sockets. $10.44 on Amazon. Was waiting for Carlyle to go on sale to get a matching SAE set for my metrics, but at this price my brand matching OCD doesn’t matter anymore.

Wow, are these made in Taiwan or China?

Seconded, OEM has a lot of good stuff and they make some cool unique stuff too, plus its priced so damn well. Everything I've received has been made in Taiwan, and I've been meaning to buy some sockets cause they're very nice looking but haven't gotten there...yet

These showed up today tho, going to be amazing.

Just got back from picking up this thunderbolt. I have been looking for one with the front crank for awhile and this one popped up last night for $300. While I have debated a bigger machine here and there, for what I do at home and being a smaller package, this is perfect for me. Going to build a base for it and roll it under the bench.

I'm with you, I absolutely love the cobras, pliers wrench, and cutters made by Knipex. I was already mostly covered in the needle nose dept by Klein, which I really like and prefer. However I have a lot of onesies for special use needle nose that Klein doesn't offer, including NWS, Snap-on, Erem, and Channellock.

What I like about these new Knipex- they offer a relatively small jaw tip size, a short jaw length, robust (for their size) build, multiple gripping zones, and a cutter.
the combination of all those I thought would be useful.
I'm not really worried about the jaws on these.

Not sure this counts, but I’ve been getting a lot of used single wrenches as of late. A flat wrench organizer is impractical right now, so they will be getting put into a roll (to keep brands together) and into the appropriate box.

Picked up this roll for just over $3 from Sears after a $7 coupon and points. Then got a $5 coupon and will be getting their 8 slot roll tomorrow.

After being disappointed by the Snap-On 1/4" QR locking flex, I wondered if the issue was poor design or just their apparently well-known substandard QC. So I thought I'd sample another with the same "Dual 80" mechanism. Bahco was the cheapest. (FYI Amazon Global Store was cheaper than direct from amazon.co.uk) As for the Stahlwille 1/4" 80T QR, long reach needlenoses, and baby waterpump pliers...pure impulse buys. I needed a long T15 to take something apart; the Stahlwille was long enough and fairly priced. The soft-handle Stahlwille 1/4" drive breaker bar is going to be used as a handle for a Nepros stubby ratchet.

Got some new sledge hammers from trusty cook two weeks ago and decided to make a locking holder out of scrap square tubing they were going throw away at work. Just had to supply the paint, hasp, and lock myself

Amazon is absolute garbage for Snap-on Industrial brands (among many other things).

Current pricing between Snap-on, Toolsdelivered and Amazon:

$59.75 PWZ0 / Bahco 140 $31.93 (Amazon $48.96)
$72.25 PWZ1 / Bahco 141 $35.93 (Amazon $56.96)
$80.00 PWZ2 / Bahco 142 $50.10 (Amazon $79.70)
$127.00 PWZ3 / Bahco 143 $81.87 (Amazon $133.79)
$249.50 PWZ4 / Bahco 144 $110.17 (Amazon $170.55)
$525.00 PWZ5 / Bahco 147 $263.15 (Amazon $342.12)

I looked all over online for pictures or videos of the Snap On PWZ5/Bahco 147, and couldn't find much. I have no idea what I'll use it for, but I'm intrigued by the possibilities of a 3 1/2 foot long pipe wrench. Found one on sale on Amazon.de, so it looks like I'll get to try it out myself. This may end up being my dumbest tool purchase of 2019. Looks like it's still orderable but on back-order, if anyone wants to join me. (EDIT: Never mind, the price shot back up now)

This is the best comparison picture I found:

Some new tools. My local Rural King is now carrying a small selection of Tekton. I picked up the Torx for my ATV travel bag. The press and accessories or from Harbor Freight to do wheel bearings on the ATV

Wish i could get in on this deal i really wanted one but the lame *** stores around me are all corporate and they said there’s none in stock in the system so they can’t order it, closest privately owned store that has this is a 3 hr round trip drive so it wouldn’t be worth the sale price for me to drive me diesel up to get one out of state. Disappointed that they would put this item for sale without having the availability to offer it to all costumers. So far my experiences with Napa Carlyle tools hasn’t been great, not saying i won’t be buying more as needs arise (sales) but so far I’m not overly impressed.

I have a 3/8 set of metrics and i just got a deal where i bought $250 worth of tools from mobile distributor supply and they through in a complete 1/4 set with a ratchet, extensions, universal and a very nice ratchet/bit set, the box they came in is also very nice. So far I’m very impressed with the quality and i couldn’t agree more with the reply’s posted i love the satin finish and the knurling kicks ***.

Why don’t you have a store ship it to you ? This ratchet is worth the effort ! Used it yesterday and couldn’t be happier. Even if shipping is $20 it is still worth it !

So i called the private store and the guy said if i really wanted it then he could sell it to me and then ship it privately he said he would just be worried about taking my money and then if i didn’t get it there would be nothing i could do since it wouldn’t be an official online order it would just be over the phone. Guess i could still pull the trigger on it and take my chances because i don’t know anywhere else where you could buy a ratchet of this size and build quality and also get a life time guarantee with it

Where are you buying the NAPA branded sockets??? My NAPA has absolutely zero NAPA branded tools, they’re selling Evercraft/Carlyle/Proto under a “good, better, best” scheme.
