I picked up a set of the Snap-on SOXRR SAE reversible ratcheting wrenches. So far, so good. I really like the low backdrag.
I wish the dual 80 ratchets had as low backdrag as these do.

Irwin circling pliers on sale at tractor supply for $7.50. Couldn't pass them up for that price. I've never owned a set before now, so I figured that would be a great addition to the tool box.

If you use these much, you will understand why they only cost $7.50 and curse the day you bought them. Sorry to break that news to you, but I was so thrilled the day I threw the equivalent ones I had in the trash.

That’s what I deserve. Depending on Amazon reviews instead of GJ input. At least I knew enough not to buy the harbor freight hose clamps!

I would look at the description and make sure you didn't pay for all stainless hose clamps. I have so many hose clamps that it would make most people sick, I throw the ones with the non stainless screw in my "auction pile" for someone else to buy.

I don't have too much to use them on at this point. Worst case, they hold me over until I can get a better set.

It disgusts me, but yes, some are unlucky enough to deal with SAE on a recurring basis.

Is one size up from 5/16 - 3/8 - or 11/32? :bounce:

Back in my day we used SAE tools and they taught fractions in school! Now where did I park my dinosaur?

I grew up in that same age. I guess my old boat still has sae so I guess I've used them in less than a year, possibly. Still seems like in this day an age the need for them is pretty small. My wrenching for the last 20+ years has definitely been a majority of metric from home to work. When people post them, I feel like I'm visiting the past much like the drive-in movie we went to last night.

Back on topic, I got these today from Amazon overnight. Ordered on eBay yesterday. Realized I had loaned my left and right Wiss to a "friend" a while back. These get good reviews so I thought I'd try them.

I work on swimming pool equipment and EVERYTHING is SAE, my vehicles are metric though. Lots of fasteners in construction are still SAE.

I'm 28, it seems my whole generation struggled to conceptualize fractions. Being that I work on cars, my eye is calibrated to "see" in metric. I have to do the conversion in my head when working on sae stuff. Too small to be a 13mm, is it 1/2 or 7/16?

I recall the student body as a whole being limped through fractions, then suffering quite badly for it later.

I was having a little fun--I'm 40. A bit older than you, but didn't actually ride dinosaurs to school. :lol_hitti. We did hit the fractions heavily in school.

I find SAE and metric both easy to recognize. Once you get used to which makes don't use certain sizes, you know its probably a 12mm or a 13mm or vice versa. I grew up using SAE so that's naturally easy for me and I still use it regularly.

I like the Midwest snips better than the Wiss, I have both.

The Midwest snips are excellent and made here in Michigan. Wiss are imported now.

I don't think that's accurate. Some of Wiss is imported(their scissors) but some is still made in the USA and relatively cheap...but Midwest Snips is definitely better than anything Wiss has ever made. Malco is even better than Midwest but are more expensive.

Some new goodies

Rubber boots for my new 14.4 guns

The 1/4" long neck is on promo in the new tech flyer. Since I've been enjoying the 14.4 line, figured why not

Recently resided my house and had it painted white. Things like cobwebs and stuff are a bit more noticeable, so picked this up to be able to walk around the patio and do some quick cleaning. The best thing about this vacuum has to be how quiet is. Love being able to walk around the house and vacuum up my dog's hair without having to constantly get the cord hung up on something. Really liking this thing so far.

This showed up today, my wife said it's too pretty to put outside in a box like my old compressor.

Yeah the Midwest are great, I used to use wiss but they would bind up occasionally. I’ve never had that happen with the Midwest.

Y'all probably know, as I have said it a million times, but I have a "thing" for Xcelite, especially rare and unusual Xcelite. Well, I found a couple more- Behold, the Non-Sparking Beryllium Copper models BR-146 and BR-1810! I saw the BR-XXXX line in an old catalog, but it's the first time I have ever seen one (two!) in person:

Had a spare 15 minutes and was passing one of the local tool shops, I wanted a 12" speed square and the weight forward hammer was a very good price as it was the last one and the fiberglass has yellowed with being exposed to sunlight for a few years, haven't seen one new in a shop for quite a while.

Came in early just in time for my birthday. Fit just as I planned. Top still hasn't arrived yet, but I can get a lot swapped over from the old 44".

Front center some new Tekton rachets to go along with Tekton Metric sockets that I bought last month. IMG_20190717_170135.jpeg

I'm really loving mine. So impressed with them I'm going to get flex heads for no reason other than to have them just in case. Can't wait for my 6 PT 1/2" sockets to show up this week and compare them to my old Cman Usa 12pt.

You will like them. I didn't have many metric sockets, so I decided to go with them and their swivels.
