Snapped a kolbalt 21mm socket. Took it to lowes and they wouldn’t warranty it Bc it was from a set. Immediately took my business to harbor freight and bought a 1/2” icon set of shallow sockets 13217a6df7d67212082dca5976ba5b39.jpg

Couple of new arrivals today as I was walking out to work tonight.

I'm much more impressed with the PZ-60 over the PZ-58 that everyone else goes gaga over.

Also, not particularly fond of flex head ratchets, I thought this bent handle version might be of limited use unlike it brethren that are never the right tool for the job. Tekton purchase on Amazon this time because I had credit from returned items to use up.

That shape is great for brake caliper brackets.

^This! I bought basically the same ratchet back '03ish from the ******* dude when they introduced it with the comfort grip. I didn't have any flex ratchets but I'd seen an older mechanic I used to work with had one the same shape with the bent handle and I figured a ratchet with a longer handle couldn't hurt so I said what the hell, I'll take it. Man I used that ratchet for EVERYTHING! Brakes, spark plugs, suspension, driveline, belts you name it I grabbed that ratchet. I used it so much so I stripped it out within a year, I'll admit that was on me. I said I used it for everything I used it for EVERYTHING! Well okay, so maybe I used a 3' extension and a universal impact for transmission housing bolts, but other than that I used that ratchet for everything! That bent handle and the flex head gets inside damn near everywhere and the long handle lets you put a lot of torque on a fastener without a lot of effort. Once I stripped it out the SnapOn dude swapped the internals while I poked around his inventory and 5 minutes later (before I found any more tools I NEEDED luckily Haha) it was good as new and ratchets like a champ to this day. I can not recommend that style of ratchet highly enough, you will get your money's worth out of it no matter how much you paid for it!

The percieved value of icon tools is much better than kobalt/ husky. I don't see those brands surviving years from now. Enjoy your set, I got the same set today too.

If you still have the old socket call Kolbalt next time you are at Lowe's. The Kolbalt rep will tell them to give you a gift card for the total of the set. Don't know why Lowe's always give such a hassle about this.

I would understand if he brought in one socket and expected them to break a set or give him an entire set. Is Icon stocked in singles? b/c I could see a similar problem there.

My understanding was the lowe's had singles, tho, and should have no problem giving him one (or even know it was from a set).

They had no singles. I got it in the 300 tool set when it was on sale years ago. I’m in the process of using kobalt as my beater tools anyway.
As far as icon I have only seen them in sets. I asked the store manager if I broke one if they would replace just that one. He said they would break a set open and give me just that one socket if they had too “lifetime warranty means lifetime warranty” - straight from his mouth

So, I do understand the unwillingness to break a set. I would think they'd ship you a single at least in liu of it.

I will be curious to see how these hold up in shops. The pistol grip Snap-on one breaks every few months like clockwork.

It's sooo funny that the "lifetime warranty" is actually "lifetime warranty unless we run into a crisis like needed to break a set".

Motion Pro motorcycle chain alignment tool.

Always like buying motorcycle tools new or used. Now all I need is that replacement Diamond 530 master chain link I ordered to arrive in the mail so I can get the Harley back on the road.

Never had my own digital torque angle wrench. Was always easy to borrow it from the tech next to me. Found one on fb marketplace for a stupid cheap price and recently recalibrated. Couldn't pass it up.

Curious to see what you think of it.. Thinking this will be my next purchase, doubt I can get rid of air die grinder, but I’m always looking to take a step closer to going all electric lol.

Decided to try out some snap on.
3/8” FLF80a
1/4” TL72

Also, got this Proto 5249XL. Really nice feel and for a 48 tooth ratchet, almost no back drag. Feels very stout also. I might pick up the 1/4” in the same style.

I am always on the lookout for Xcelite tools, and I picked up this Cornwell spinner handle that was clearly made by Xcelite. They made tools for many other companies too, and it's always fun to see an Xcelite driver wearing a different name.

Our power was out yesterday but the mailman still brought a box from Epstein. The Wilde brake spoon for $2.50 was a no brainer, the Wrightgrips fill the 2 holes in my 750 set (shut up, empty slots in the rack annoy me). The 2 pliers are supposed to be Wilde and they're solid for sure but the hose clamp pliers are stamped Witco and the other has no marking whatsoever. The pivot bolts aren't in the best shape either but that's just cosmetic. The oil can is a gift for a machinist buddy and not pictured are a handfull of Norseman bits filling in a last few holes in my indexes. All in all a good haul, I may try my hand at wrapping the pliers handles and with any luck they may end up becoming presents.

I just ordered it from Toolnut.
Sometimes Google works better than going to Amazon first.

I don't need the education on searching for tools.
I was directing the post to the OP saying he found this on Amazon.

My apologies, I should have worded that better. The grinder came from Jersey Discount Tool Co. via Facebook. Just the wheels came from Amazon

New California Air Tools compressor for the firehall. The Craftsman took a ****, wanted to try something quieter, and it sure is. This will be hooked up to the hard line plumbing in the truck bay to keep the trucks aired up.

Needed a 34mm axle nut socket...

BTW... Finally used my Bosch "Freak" that I won last year... was worried that it wouldn't have enough "umph", but it worked GREAT removing the lug nuts and the axle nuts.
