Two new stubby ratchets arrived today from Japan. They are a Japanese brand called SK11 but made in Taiwan, 1/4 drive part number SRH2CS and 3/8 drive SRH3CS. They sell on eBay for around $25 US each with free shipping from Japan. Very happy with the quality for the price, low back drag, nice positive switch, recessed quick release and very nice chrome and finish.
Also got a Koken 3725Z 3/8 ratchet a couple of weeks ago. I have a had a chance to use this a little in my job as a mechanic and I am not sure how I feel about this one. It has very low back drag which Koken is famous for ( lowest of anything I own) but the reverse switch is horrible, loose and floppy and not at all smooth in operation. Also being only 36 teeth it has already proven to be a limitation in tight spaces of modern car engine bays. I am used to 72T and above ratchets and own many Snap on dual 80's, Carlyle 72T flex heads, Gearwrench 84T and 120XP's etc. It's a nice ratchet but I am a little disappointed in it.20191220_173559.jpeg20191220_173753.jpeg20191220_174617.jpeg20191220_174828.jpeg

Also got something that I have been wanting for a long time.....
Snap on prices in Australia are crazy but I have been wanting a set of Flank Drive Plus Combination wrenches ever since a bought a single 12mm one years ago.
I could never bring myself to spend the $650 AUD asking price ( about $450 USD) so I looked around for a good used set, but by the time I paid import fees, freight and the exchange rate it never seemed liked a great deal for something that may well not be covered by warranty here.
Anyway, last month I got on the Snap on truck and they had a bogo deal on the 10 piece metric SOEXM710 Flank Drive Plus set with a free XSM608A 8 piece set of 10° Offset Flank Drive short double box wrenches. Two sets of wrenches for $650 (AUD) made the price bearable so now I finally have them [emoji3]
Haven't had a chance to use them yet ( only opened them last night) but am extremely happy with the fit and finish of these and can't wait to put them to use.
The only thing I do find odd is that the box wrench set includes two 9mm wrenches! ( an 8/9 and a 9/10) If they were going to double up on a size why would they pick the least common size? Wouldn't you double up on 10 or 12mm? Anyway I won't let it bug me , they were free!20191220_183725.jpeg20191220_183902.jpeg20191220_183944.jpeg20191220_184101.jpeg20191220_184242.jpeg

Had no idea these things existed. Adapters for increasing drive size but in low profile. Then again I haven't looked for adapters in a long time. Didn't need the 1/2" to 3/4" but whatevers, came as a set & were cheap. I liked them so much I ordered a second set. Hope they hold up fine, made in Taiwan.

I have always wondered if anyone made adapters like this. Thank you.

My first Knipex. I feel like a proud new father, hahaha.

How do you like the baby Cobras? I have a set of 10" (craftsman branded) and the xxl 22" love them both. Thinking about getting a small one.

I have the 125mm pliers wrench and I love it. I've only really ever read complaints about knipex in regards to their needle nose pliers. But that doesn't apply to me personally, already set there, just needed cutters and specialty pliers, both of which Knipex does exceptionally well.

You should buy the compact bolt cutters next lol

Like you I recently purchased Koken ratchets. Purchased 2 Zeal ratchets 1/4” and 3/8” sadly I consider these to be on par with my old Craftsman ratchets. I also purchased 2 of the standard knurled versions of Koken as well. These I find to be much better than the Zeal, but still not near my Snap On ractchets.
As much as I wanted to really like these, the Koken will be used as spares.

Those SK11 ratchets look just like the Kobalt compact quick release ratchets I bought a few years ago from Lowes (which is a good thing, I LOVE these ratchets).

The short DBE's are among the first Snap On tools I bought, and super-handy; I use them all the time. I usually reach for those unless I really need leverage. I only got the 10 to 19mm set. Never had much need for 18/20 or anything smaller than 10.

Both pliers are extremely well made. They totally exceeded my expectations in that regard, and I had pretty high expectations from Knipex, especially since they cost so damn much. The baby Cobra are more petite than I expected. I mean, I knew they were small, but I didn't really comprehend how small they would be. The jaws of both line up perfectly on all sides, and since I bought these expecting to do more delicate work in tight quarters I'm excited about that. Even though I haven't had a need to use them yet, if you have a need for small pliers, based on my set I can wholeheartedly recommend them. After handling these two pliers I now need to buy the bigger sizes! :bounce:

I want to add that the belt case they came with is really well made, too. I typically throw those in a box somewhere, never to be seen again, but I'm going to try and find a use for this one. I won't be using it for these pliers (I'm not a technician and the pliers will live in my tool box), but I may stuff it with some basic hand tools and a flashlight to keep in the car.

Picked this up for fifteen dollars today from CL. Anyone know who might be the manufacturer? It says made in England. I’m putting a Jacobs 2B on it once I grind down a cheap wrench for it.

The replacement chuck is very nice. I think it’s the wrong key but I’ll get the right one.

Got these 1/4" drive Tektons on their Christmas special. Second pic is a size comparison to SnapOn in 7mm.

Picked up the 18v to 20v adapter for my 18v DeWalt tools. Works as expected, but the locking buttons are a bit awkward and stiff and the battery is fairly tight (not a bad thing, but it slides into other tools easier).

Blue Point. Are you thinking someone made it for them?

Jeff that’s awesome. Very similar to my Charge TTi which I love and use everyday.

Christmas shopping. Bought an Olfa 18×24 cutting mat and 6×12 quilting ruler (both made in Japan) for my sister.

Bought a pair of Knipex 71 31 200 notched standard co-bolts for my BIL's dad, he is a general contractor do-it-all type and likes better stuff, he uses Stabila levels but he doesn't have any Knipex as far as I can tell. I think the original 200mm size is a good Knipex gateway drug (It was mine I think LOL)

No pics, but I bought my BIL the HF Daytona 4 ton pro jack in orange. He needs one, I'm curious to see how well it works. No coupons on this one sadly, and I checked. It took me 3 stores to find it in orange tho, just glad I found one. Was $192 after tax and that sumbitch is heavy.
Edit: https://www.harborfreight.com/4-Ton-Professional-Rapid-Pump-Floor-Jack-Orange-64201.html

And lastly I've always borrowed one of these when I've needed it. But impulse purchase for $49.99 at Menards got me this Milwaukee 800 lb hand dolly (frame made in USA). I'm about to move, I will need it. Seemed like a good price.

Yes someone made it for blue point. Blue point doesn’t manufacture tools that I’ve ever seen.

So SnapOn jumped on the bandwagon. I've got a pair of Mac ones that are well over 15 years old, hopefully SO's are better. The Mac ones worked but the backdrag was prominent and they were roundheads which I hate largely for the PITA it is changing direction and it was a pain with these guys. Maybe opening them up for a clean and lube would help, sprag gears aren't that complicated.

The Olfa mat and cutter should be in every shop. That is how I cut my drawer liners with extreme precision. I also have a Fiskars roller cutter blade.

I bought a 12x18 Olfa cutting mat a few days ago locally from Joann's with a 40% off coupon (posted in another thread), paid $11.99. Been watching it on Amazon, was $13 for a while but jumped up to $16 last week.

Joann's has a doorbuster sale on cutting mats right now, 50% off. So the Olfa 12x18 dropped to $9.99, bought 2 more this morning. The Olfa 18x24 was $19.99.

EDIT: N/M, looks like the doorbuster sale is over now.

6 point full polish combo wrenches and stubby wrenches from Cripe. I got the stubbies in std 7/16- 5/8, and metric 12-15, 6 point combos in 1/2, 11,12,14,16. these were Armstrong and KD, NOS USA made full polish wrenches. Cost around 50 bucks not including shipping, which they do combine, so it’s less then indicated in your eBay cart.
Cripe seems to be my store of choice anymore for when I get birthday or Christmas money to spend on tools. Can’t beat the prices, and I can get quality nos USA made tools.

Filling in some gaps:

NOS USA made craftsman G and G2 series 1/2in drive sockets, 9 to 19mm (the 11mm is missing).

2 10mm Craftsman Industrial ratcheting wrenches to replace my missing 10mm that I bought in high school. (One of them was defective, side load free spin issue, but the other one seems to work just fine). Might be putting some SK X-frames or Protos ratcheting wrenches on my wish list.

snapons have been out for more than a few years now. they use a cam setup.

side note. my tekton stubbys sae/metric and usa made nut pliers came in. Just waiting on my 4 way wrenches to come in. probably closer to the end of the year for those though.
